I just got my Jiren in yesterday and my friend had warned me about Jiren's arm locking up. Luckily, before I sheered off the connection, I took off the arm and lubricated where it connects. Now it works perfectly fine and I have had zero issues.
And I know I’m a little late but. Basically I got the figure then the next day I was just gonna display it’s on my shelf with the crossed arms and since it wouldn’t come off by regular pulling I twisted and pulled at the same time and now I guess I price of plastic was twisted off now his right arm falls off every time you bend his elbow😭😤
Special thanks to mah boy Jawbry for offering up his figure to fix! For those wondering how to prevent this, as stated by some people here, before messing with your new Jiren remember to have some silicone oil to lube up the arm joints. Do that and you will be good to go.
to loosen/smooth up tight joints on new figures: clear liquid soap is your best friend. just drip it into the joint and let it sit for 24-42 hrs. the joint will eventually loosen up. when ever you hear creaks on any joint, it's time to stop cranking on it, so you don't end up with a broken figure.
It’s sad that we have to do this to a $50 figure of a character that I and everyone has been wanting for years now, why would figure-arts do this new crap to a figure like him he is not a test figure he is a popular character, just do the same thing you have always done with Vegetas crosses arms don’t try something new, not with Jiren he is not even my favorite character but I been waiting for him for a while, I have 25 figures all bought from amazon but goku and vegeta, only one I’ve had a problem with, trunks and his broken sword but I was expecting that everyone had that problem with 1.0 trunks but jiren and it’s one of figurarts newest figures, this gotta be a joke sorry for writing a whole novel but I need to get my frustrations out because this is the same thing that happened to mine and I’m trying to fix it now I’m just so mad about this, a character that I’ve wanted for this long and this happens. At the end of the day if you have this guy make sure to dip him in warm water before you take his arm off, wish I knew, I thought SHF was better than this. Edit: We need a rerelease with a apology note from everyone at SHF that comes with the figure 😂 who’s with me!
QUESTION How about I ignore the obvious fact that he should be posed with cross-arms unless he's fighting. And just never attempt to take the arms off and only take the hands-off for posing. Can I avoid this issue?
Why didn't you just get a replacement with Amazon? It's a known issue. More times the seller will let you keep the figure because it's worthless to them, a and you'll also get a new replacement or your money back.
Ikr same happened to mine but i plugged the bicep swivel back in it works? But it just falls off from time to time. Im not too fussed cuz now i can put in the crossed arms 😂
Both my pegs on his arms broke followed you video you honestly don’t need to create a new joint from what I’m noticing it fits like it did out of the box and isn’t loose so thank you for telling me how to get the pegs out!!!!!
Tamiya extra thin cement will fix this also ( with all the original parts ). Just apply a little on each end and hold in place for 30 seconds. Done. You can also use plaplate if the original part gets lost. It's not glue. It's a compound that will melt both parts back together. Lots of videos here on YT on the product. It's used mostly on gundam kits(also made by bandai)
I managed to repair a figure's broken peg once. I did a terrible job of pulling it out since I didn't have needle nose pliers. So because the peg was all fucked up I decided to layer super glue on it to even it out so it could easily fit back on the joint and in the socket without problems. My figure's repaied joint turns but I am extra careful because the figure is essentially crippled now. Took a while to do but I managed to fix it. Word of advice: use the tools Dstar recommends. Don't free style otherwise you'll end up having to do what I did.
I bought mine used, the seller said the right arm had the issue. I used your method of hot water but I forgot about it like 30mins. The hot water fixed my issue. The arm socket doesn’t sound tight. I’ve tried it for weeks still no tight joint. Hot water fixed it
Honestly mine hasnt broke and i play with mine all the time, also note that i use silicone oil on any tight joints for my figures so that they dont squeek. You just need to handle these figures like they are 60$ If you change out parts heat them up with water and you wont break them. I only broke figure and that was yamchas hair joint and it was because i was careless.
I tried to take off the crosses arms and snapped the arm peg and now I have to use putty to hold it in. Fragile figure so hoping the next jiren is better
For me I’m very careful with my jiren action figure whenever I take off the cross arms I would swivel it to put on the normal arms and do the same thing when I take off the normal arms
I only have one SH figure Vegeta w Scouter an it is awesome don't get me wrong but when I change the parts on him it feels like there going to break not to mention when changing his different faces they don't sit right on his head

When you 1st get him. Most people don't think of it because, honestly, why should you? It's not in the directions and most people shouldn't have this issue
Maybe I didn’t make it clear enough,when you get 1st him,you have to confirm if the joint is too tight,After confirming that it is too tight, lubricate with lubricating oil

I would recommend super glue the head of the joint but drill and secure it with a pin.

@jeff0117 do you apply that after completely dismantling the upper arm/shoulder or while it's still in the shoulder?

I was so happy I got this guy,I used the crossed arms,took them off,tried to put the normal arms on again,and the arms broke.
I think that if you put some type of oil or grease should do the trick, before it breaks.

It might get brittle time to time. To make sure. Add some lubricant in the joint.
Mine broke just by swivelling the arm while posing, so be careful with it.
Put dish wash soap in the joint, and wait a few hours. You should be all good if done correctly
