- Advocates for the right to medically assisted death say Canada's new law will help more people suffering with debilitating illnesses to die on their own terms. But as Adrian Ghobrial hears, the changes venture into controversial territory.
I am afraid that later on, Medically Assisted Deaths would be more like Forced Medically Assisted Murders.

Government should be putting more money towards disabled people before allowing so many more people to join the deathlist.
They're saying in 2 years the laws will be changed to allow people with depresion and mental illness to do this same program?!
All without putting money into helping people with mental health and addiction issues.
It's great for those who are in horrible pain each day or dying from an incurable disease though.
I can't wait to see assisted suicide is available for those struggling with depression like myself. I'll definitely ask my psychiatrist to go for it.

You don't think livng with depression is horribly painful? I can handle physical pain easily enough. MENTAL anguish, despair, numbness, soulless... Is BRUTAL.

@@20LookInside12 All people are created in the image of God. People are not merely a tax on a system. Mental illness is terrible. Depression is terrible. I have been through my own struggles with mental health symptoms, but there is always hope! Things can get better. Psalm 30:5 For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime; weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning.
How does any legal expert reconcile any mental health issues with the fact that Lawpro actively incentivizes discrimination against this group?

Exactly! It's so ridiculous that our only option is suicide if we don't want to be here. It's inhumane to force people to live when they don't want to.

@@stephcurry2350 cure your mental pain by focusing on helping others; diverting your negative thoughts by taking a walk , going for a holiday, treating yourself with something new , taking classes , a long luxiurious bath when you feel overwhelmed or anxious.Thinking about jumping off a bridge unless its a bungee jump is just feeding your neurosis .Ever thought you have an evil enemy wanting to destroy your life?; focus on your spiritual self to answer that one by going to a biblical church eg Noone said life was going to be easy and it sure isnt when your health is compromised so have COURAGE AND COPE. Ask for support with your issues from family and friends, it uplifts them to feel needed although i know its hard to be the needy one , everyone is at some point

Living with a mental illness (bipolar 1) is horrific and counselling is $200/hour. How can one afford counselling living on an Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP)? You can't. There is very little mental health counselling for people with a mental illness in Canada, that's been my experience at any rate.
But there are christian churches which don't believe in religion (practices)but a living faith in a living God, guess what?it's free.

Im (hopefully) about halfway through my MAID application for severe chronic pain ,Major Depression. I would happily go through with it tomorrow. Much more dignified than GSW to the head
Jesus had healed me of OCD and anxiety. God loves you and he cares. He can help you with mental illness and physical pain, Don’t take your life there is more for you. You can still live a great life free of mental illness and physical illness. Just tell him that if he is real you will give him everything, what do you have to loss.

I only started getting better in my OCD when I gave my life to God and he gave me the power to control my impossible thoughts, he can do the same for you

@@JohnSmith-qw1mq From what I was told, they feel a sense of euphoria. There is no pain and death occurs within 6-7 days. Dry mouth is remedied by lemon swabs.
@@wraithsrequiem9711 Seriously? To people in Hospice perhaps, but for a physically healthy person - that would be tough to do. Mentally ill (depression, anxiety etc...) with migraines. I am pysically really fit, but mentally - I've made my life so isolated and miserable now, and with all the insanity going on in our society ~ I am DONE.

I have heart failure my heart is only working at about 25% of normal capacity and I started the process with my doctor in California it’s called death with dignity act here.
youre mistaken ...there is nothing dignified about end of life .. Is it moral to have nominated others complicit in your death?Have courage and Live fully as an example of coping to your family, friends and community ...people remember you in a positive light that way. Focus on your spiritual life now and know that God is near to your suffering soul.Accept Christ into your life as redeemer , repent of your transgressions , repair your mind and heart ,and salvation leads to eternal life , the real promised life without the suffering. I think that it is very unjust for MAID to be restricted only to physical pain, no one can understand how excruciatingly painful to live with emotional pain and depression.
i am certain if big pharma wasnt so invested in making billions$$$ we would have better solutions to emotional pain and depression.( especially encouraging suicide) Think: if you were starving would they be your predominant issues?I cured emotional pain and depression when i stopped bing the victim by recalibrating my thoughts on my life. I forgive those who were ruining my young life because they know not what they do and in the big scheme of things id rather be me than them...and depression /anxiety, its is too much negative inward focus, expand your horizons , help others starting with family and friends, support with money, your time and compassion , you will feel wonderful Start by going for walks , listening to music , taking yoga or educ classes , have a lovely bath , treat yourself to some nice food or prent, volunteer , adopt a dog or cat...... Dont let depression/ mental state or any illness define you!!!!!God bless

These comments of people begging to die. Praying for Annie Banana and "Steph Curry"...There is help. That help comes from Jesus. No, I'm not trying to sound preachy, but nobody should believe this lie. That death would solve your issues. You're life is precious. Despite what you're going through, there's a way to escape that isn't death. That's through Jesus whom I've experienced firsthand with my mental illness. He can heal you. Go to him for help. It's amazing what He can do for us.
There's no help for everyone. In my country I just suffer greatly. I was at psychiatric hospitals and nothing changed.
The doctors mostly say "try a little harder" and give you some antidepressants and that's about it. I want this suffering to end in a humane way.
I don't believe in any god, because there's zero proof of it. Let us pass away in peace.

@@soundtrack1405 Sure! When you look at creation, meaning the trees, flowers, the sky, clouds(Basically the things that weren't created by humans). It shows that there is a Creator behind it. When you look at a building, even though you don't know the people who created it, you know that it was created by someone. Do you get it? Also, I believe humans are proof as well. Just think about all the intricate things about us, how everything falls into place(including the solar system). There is a mind behind everything that is created. I hope this helps💫

@@treseoreilly1953 Children are never OK that a parent figure chooses death over them. That act subconsciously tells the children that they are not worthy and will likely affect them in a negative way, well into adulthood.
@@evydarling My father took his own life, and you're right about the effects (likely why I'd like to partake in MAID as well at this point...), but if the children discussed this with her and understand, it can give them a really amazing learning experience in compassion, letting go and loving without strings attached. It's NOT suicide. It is an end to Suffering and many should be allowed to do this, kids or no kids.

I agree with you but what about the trauma you get from seeing your sick mum constantly suffer from agonising pain for *many years*. Just because she's alive doesn't mean she will be a good mum especially if she has chronic pain, then she won't be able to do physically take care for her kids or won't be able to play with her kids. if her illness is making her depressed or anxious, she might neglect their needs also.
Why do people put neadless obsticals to access Maid, that really upsets me since now I am in daily emotional pain. I am classified as unemployable and i can not even function in proper school.
I beg you MAID please consider releiving my pain by administering your services on my. I am a single 45 years old man who is in constant emotional pain. My adhd and ocd render me unemployable or not even volunteerable. I try to volunteer places and every agency has me as black listed not to admit. In addition i tried to apply to go to school and 3 colleges tbay i went to have me under black listed and to turn away. My mom and dad are both embarrased to have a handicaped son. I cry myself to sleep every single night and wake up crying. I get turbed away from every place i go. Now because of all of the stress i am always in emotional pain and in constant panic anxiety. So once again i beg of you MAID to at the very least consider me for the waiting list. At this point i am not living just merely existing.
