My mother was always so busy with the house and the garden, and at the end of the day she picked up her fine crochet work. So I didn't get to spend much one on one time with her at all. But my fondest memory of time spent with her was shelling peas on the side porch. I treasure those moments, thank you for bringing them forward in my mind again.
Love your videos Amy. You are calming and soothing and remind me of visiting my godmother who I miss seeing so much. Your concept about the shawl is beautiful. I hope to knit a shawl this year with some mini skeins I recieved in an advent calendar, maybe a Stephen west pattern as you have made many beautiful ones 😍
You just made me cry. My mom died on November 28, 2021 here in our house. I feel like when she passed, she took the joy she brought to my life with her. This isn't home without her. It's just where I live. All though the last hours of her life, I sat by her bed and knitted. My crafts are the only thing that make me happy. So, when you said find home in your knitting, I started to cry. Your manner is so gentle and kind. Thank you so much.
Amy, your videos are so inspiring...I want to buy all the patterns and make all the projects! Thank you, thank you! The Archetype deck is awesome...I have it waiting to be opened when it calls to me! ❤️💫❤️
Shawls as portable sacred spaces. Wow. Sounds a lot like what I feel my knitwear is - gentle armour. I heard that years back on the Gentle Knitter podcast. We are fortunate to have such lovely ideas surrounding all of our lovely woollen things. Your podcast is a gift. Thank you again.
Yes - i love that - gentle armour. I think when we do make our garments and spend such a lot of time doing so, it really gives us an opportunity to think deeply about what we're making and to weave in our intentions. Like magical talismans!
Your SlipStravaganza is lovely! I've never been one for MKALs, but really enjoyed watching Stephen West's videos in support of this year's offering. They were amazing to watch and made me think I might do one next year. Thank you for the lovely series of videos you're creating.
I so enjoy the mkals - just because you really have no idea where they're going to go. Always a surprise! And, you are so welcome, Shawnalee - I'm so enjoying making these episodes. I love to know that they're being watched and enjoyed.
Thank you again, sweet Amy. I love your podcast, your energy and I learn so much about knitting from you. Thank you for taking the time to explain your moderations and how you go about your knitting. You also inspire me to be bolder in my choice of colors. Many I will se you in the zoom tonight😊👏🏻lots of love, Tone
Amy, I just love your podcasts. I look forward to them and I feel nurtured and nourished each time. I'm grateful for all the little gems that you impart. I just love this community. Sending joy and love, stay safe and well.
Amy, that acid green cowl looks so fantastic on you! I am really loving your podcasts, especially the card readings and the selections from the books at the end. Espace Tricot have (or used to have) a vlog as well. And if I may add another cosy knitting vlog - Kammebornia - Sophia and Denis do a lovely colourful and cosy little vlog. They live on a small Swedish Island. Cheers! And thank you!
Your comments about shawls were particularly poignant for me Amy. My Mom passed away a year ago on this coming Tuesday. When she died she was wearing a lovely soft shawl that I knitted for her a few years back. I’ve kept the shawl and when I wear it, it’s like receiving a hug from her. It is a comfort indeed. Bless you for sharing your lovely words and your work. I enjoy every minute.
Your slipstravaganza is incredible. I love your colors and its making me want to finish mine as I have a similar feeling with a kit I bought at the last minute. I don’t know why I have not finished because I only have the last two clues. One being almost done but I didn’t do it exactly right so I stopped but I don’t think its the end of the world and just need to finish.
Dear Amy thanks so much for sharing your projects with us, yes I agree with you, it is very important both cast on and cast off, details are important, lo e your shawls 😍
Aw, thank you - I do so love playing with colours. As long as it has a warm undertone, I can usually get away with it. But I can't wear white at all - makes me look like a ghost!
Inspired by your video before this one, the question and answer video, I looked for my "Women who run with the wolves" book to do as you suggested: pick a chapter that called to me. And, yes, it was Sealskin, Soulskin, which I read. So strange and wonderful to hear you talk about just that today! Thank you
Its my first time here it popped up in my youtube flow and from the first moment i was hocked 😍 lovely program and i love your voice so calming . You got a knew follower👋
Thank you for all the time, thoughts and warmth you put into each episode. Love your Slipstravagaza shawl. I am at the 2nd chevron. So still a way to finish it off.
As always an amazing episode. I love your sense of colors and how they interact with one another. Everything is a masterpiece in and of itself. Looking forward to your next journey. Stay safe. Many Blessings. Namaste 🙏🏽💜
Lovely podcast episode Amy...Thank you for the tip using the German short row cast on with the Iceland bind off. I use them both, but I've never used them together. Thank you for the inspiring card reading & book paragraph. :-)
Hi Amy 😊 I just love your version of Pink Velvet and completely agree that it looks like a piece of artwork. All of your projects are so lovely. I especially adore your Ranunculus and I am currently binding off a summer version knit out of Illamani Sabri (85/15 cotton/alpaca) but plan on knitting at least 3 more (one for each season ☺️).
Dear Amy, I read this book in the 90's and I must say, I forgot so much of its wisdom. Now as you mentioned it the second time in your podcasts, I urgently must read it again as it is still standing in my book-shelf. Thank you for reminding me of it. Regarding your projects I am really impressed about so much knitting. I do not proceed in such a fast way. Have a beautiful relaxing Sunday.
It’s always so lovely to spend time with you!! I need another ranunculus as well. Two is not enough! Wearing one as I watch! I have some crazy superbulky yarn from the 80s that I need a pattern for so I must check out Tara-Lynne’s patterns!
I'm not even going to tell you how many Ranunculus (ranunculi?) I have knitted, but it is more than two.... It's just such a quick and lovely knit. I do wish it was more size inclusive though. And yes, do check out Tara Lynn on Rav for some fun fast knitting!
Your podcast feels like home to me. Your voice is soothing, not only in tone but in its dialect. As I’m from Edinburgh too your accent is comforting and reassuring. Thanks for your inspiration with what you are knitting. I love seeing your FO and what you are planning. 😊
Aw, there's nothing quite like a familiar lilt of an accent to conjure up a feeling of home, is there, Vicki? I'm so glad you're enjoying all that you find here.
Another lovely episode Amy! Your Pink Velvet made me think of Gustav Klimt's The Kiss, one of my favorite pieces of art. Looking forward to seeing the finished sweater.
Thank you so much, Jessica! And yes, I think you're spot on - it reminds me of Klimt too. I've just shared the finished garment in my latest episode - you'll get to see the full effect there!
Coming home - expressed in so many diverse ways but all signalling a way back to the true self. Thank you, Amy. Your yarn and style choices always an inspiration - such a gift to see another's version, opening up new possibilities, not imagined until seen through another set of eyes. Today's episode guided me through my first sock darning attempt and provided a soothing background for my impatient efforts at extending the life of these precious items!
Oh goodness, well done you, Edythe! Darning is not my forte, but when needs must, like you say, it does extend the life of our most precious pieces, doesn't it?
Thank you once again for a delightful episode. You’ve got plenty to keep you warm with your single glazing! Your colour combinations and choices are exquisite. xx
Amy, I received my copy of Women Who Run With the Wolves in the mail. Before I opened the package I thought it was the wrong book as it wasn't large like yours. It is small, with the finest small print....quite unexpected. I'm so glad to be able to experience this book. I may be wrong, but as Canadians, I don't know if we have cosy winter traditions. Lots of getting ready for winter, but not the cosy things. Perhaps that is why we so eagerly adopt those from other northern countries.
I enjoy your wisdom and seeing all your wips and fos! I too am keen to knit the sweater with the floats on the outside and had yarn bought from Tribe Yarn for this through iKnit7. I listened this time as I knit the last rows of Slipstravaganza. Thanks again.
@@AmyPalko Hi! Thanks! I have the Slipstravaganza now drying on a small bed. It looks like feathers of a crane type of bird! Can’t wear it! I went the whole way so it’s big. X
