See, this is why I agree with exam that Pit isn't as good as people say. He's still a good character, but his recovery is exploitable, his air speed is way too slow, and he has lots of trouble killing even after the smash 4 changes. The only reason why people say that he's at the top of high tier is because of his fast, disjointed blades giving him a great neutral game, but Bowser Jr. also has a good neutral game and he's currently considered low tier (though Jade's upset over Trela might change some opinions).
I'm not sure about that, I mean yeah, Earth's two sets against Zero have been terrible, but out of that two sets Earth's Pit has been amazing, he has amazing sets against a American pre patch Sheiks, and other top players in Japan.I'm still waiting for him to beat Zero, because overall he has been a god with the character.
Pit is good, Diddy is just one of his hardest MUs. Diddy has a better neutral, he's faster, hits really hard, and Pit's floatiness and lightness really makes him combo food against Diddy's Dthrow combos and kill setups. The only time Pit is at an advantage in this MU is if he can get Diddy to recover low and then either trying to snipe or go for an aerial. Plus, well, it is ZeRo he's fighting, not some random pools Diddy. Earth did a lot better than I thought he would against ZeRo.
Hey, I have the highest respect for Earth, that wasn't a knock on his skill. Both Earth and ZeRo are extremely intelligent and patient players, but at the highest level of play Diddy is a very hard character for Pit to fight and it shows as much as I hate to say it. ZeRo wasn't giving Earth any openings to exploit, and he was punishing Earth WAY harder than Earth was punishing him. Yes, Earth did get double two stocked, but he still put up a respectable fight. It could have been tournament nerves as well seeing as how he beat Zinoto in friendlies afterward.
I feel like Pit's main problem is that most of his attacks do only sub-medium knockback, so he doesn't have that many options for getting people in the air nor having that many combos for racking up damage. The downthrow is his only combo starter and fthrow his best kill confirm, that was the main reason Nairo was resorting mainly for throws when he was still playing Pit. And also the arrows could be a bit better.
Mixa the biggest problem for pit tbh is his aerials. Nair, fair, and bair are very small and usually get beaten out by like every move in this game. If those hitboxes were bigger pit could so much better
I think his damage output is just dog shit. Like fair is actually good priority-wise, but it's a three hit move that only does 7%?? Come on now. Back air should be a kill move too. Ugh. He's just so subpar.
Highlight of the set: *RED BULL*

True
It's just Pits Blades look like they will hit often and maybe his smashes will kill, but up smash aside his f smash lags coming out.

Pit is a really mediocre character. I think he's just way too honest for the current Sm4sh metagame.
he's not mediocre, but he is too honest in a way.
