Difference is simple. Boy in old version is much more natural and fitting for song. He was perfect fit for song. Girl in new version doesn't even make moves with the flow of song and in way of acting she is not fitting for song. Could blame all this on who filmed it. Crew that filmed remake video look like scrubs comparing to one in 1999. That difference in quality is way obvious (which can also be part of reason why girl acting wasn't that good). This video is great comparison! It was nice to be reminded of one of all time favorite songs! For this kind of video would be great if they actually had that boy from old video (maybe they tried but failed to acquire him).
You do realise that the boy from the old video would be about 30 now? It wouldn't look right. I think the girl in the new version looked ok for the part, but doesn't have the same flair that the boy did in the original, with how his moves synced better with the music, and how he sang along silently. The girl just kinda flails around, or doesn't move at all. I don't think this is any fault of her own though, just the direction doesn't fit well in the new version.
I'm seeing the 2019 version for the first time and didn't know anything about it. As a child of the 90s, I can say that nothing beats 1999 version. The best times were the 90s and the 2000s. Then it went downhill until it fell into the depths.

Beacuse she's a ballerina; a serbian balletdancer from the "Lujo Davičo" Ballet High School (Serbia) to be more specific. She's not familar to break dancing. The name of the girl in the video is Milica Bajčetić _(if someone is interested in her and her Insta: @milica_bajcetic)._ I think there are more than enough b-boys and b-girls in Serbia; so I don't get it why they picked up a ballerina (and some twerkers) for this video - as ballet and twerking has nothing to to with this. Imo this was a missed opportunity to show some of the break dancing scene of Serbia. However, you can tell that the girl is a ballerina from her rather stiff than flowing dancing style. It's because in ballet you have to fit into a certain role and master certain movements in a very specific way and there's no space for a personal flow/style or whatsoever in Ballet. There's no breaker flow in her dance moves, simply bc Ballet has a total different flow and is a different dance scene. Also this music genre isn't her thing; that's the reason why she's not feeling it (she doesn't vibe to this music). Btw: The new music video was filmed at the "Vukov Spomenik" railway station (underground station in Belgrade, Serbia). It was sponsored by belgian communications provider Telenet to promote a new mobile phone service, called "YUGO". Hence the _"bring it on YUGO"_ at the end of the 2019-version video.

I prefer 1999 because it had more effort put into it as those effects must of been hard back then and the dreadlock kid just has more soul and heart and childlike wonder...
Yeah- to be honest, in 1999 we weren't all "glued to cell phones" so we really DID have more "soul and wonder"... we saw the world through our own eyes, not through a screen on a phone. Funny how much more "connected" we were back then WITHOUT the level of technology we are connected to now. I've lived through both, and can honestly say the quality of life in 1999 was far more soulful than that of 2019- hands down. Won't even GO THERE about 2020...

They switched white dancers with black ones for ''Variety'' which is sad, then again white people can't dance anymore and the scene is not as big as it used to be. They switch a male main to a female one, because that's how it is these days ''Equality''. As well as the original was better, because the focus was more on what the lead was doing, instead of just showing off some kid with dreads. Like the camera shots seem allot more interesting and intuitive in the original, than just have her face in them 70% of the time because shes cute (Like she seems emotionless and bland, almost like she was forced to be there. The kid in the original sings along and has allot more of a natural flow and fun). Its more of the thing that you don't need good tech to make good stuff. More how you approach it and you can only see it in a side by side comparison and the new version just falls flat in comparison. PS: I think that its an advertisement for an internet company or something, not an actual music video.

I think every try to make it better would fail. But this one is just miserable. It's not just bad. It doesn't have anything good. You could make something worse, but still worth watching. This was just boring.

Because A) Marlo Snellman (the protagonist of the og video) had real dreadlocks for many years when the protagonist of the 2019 version had synthetic fake add ons that you can take them out and put them back. B) Because late 90s/early 00s street and athletic fashion was bomb, good quality and durable clothing. The clothes on the 2019 look tacky and cheap.

As much i like the new version, it's missing something.There was something worrying about the 1999 version. It looked like his path was suddenly set up for him, people around noticed and watched him, and he was supprised many times. Like a world of glitch. This new version shows her only having fun and dancing.
Not only that but this new video feels like it lacks character. The original version felt incredibly authenthic and more immersive. Even in the old version the VFX effects were done better, playing with individual characters while the new video usually uses the entire scene to rewind or fast forward or etc. It just feels like they slid the timer bar around on a media player and then put in the main character. I don't know maybe it's just me but Bomfunk's original video has much more of a feel and authenticity to it.
@@Opiien that's a technical analysis and Im open to that. I actually like the overall of the new one but I agree that it feels sterelized. I just have a thing for the low chromatic stuff, tunnel scenarios, ceiling lights. While the old look is way too 90s cheese. Personal take though

Is it just me or the 2019 version's most distinctive modifications are the following: a). femi movement b). multiracial movement c). multiculturalism movement So the exact card they have been trying to implement with intensity for several years now, including academy awards in Hollywood. They switch a male main to a female one, because that's how it is these days ''Equality''. As well as the original was better, because the focus was more on what the lead was doing, instead of just showing off some kid with dreads. Like the camera shots seem allot more interesting and intuitive in the original, than just have her face in them 70% of the time because shes cute (Like she seems emotionless and bland, almost like she was forced to be there. The kid in the original sings along and has allot more of a natural flow and fun). Its more of the thing that you don't need good tech to make good stuff. More how you approach it and you can only see it in a side by side comparison and the new version just falls flat in comparison.

B) Because late 90s/early 00s street and athletic fashion was bomb, good quality and durable clothing. The clothes on the 2019 look tacky and cheap.

As much i like the new version, it's missing something.There was something worrying about the 1999 version. It looked like his path was suddenly set up for him, people around noticed and watched him, and he was supprised many times. Like a world of glitch. This new version shows her only having fun and dancing.

Not only that but this new video feels like it lacks character. The original version felt incredibly authenthic and more immersive. Even in the old version the VFX effects were done better, playing with individual characters while the new video usually uses the entire scene to rewind or fast forward or etc. It just feels like they slid the timer bar around on a media player and then put in the main character. I don't know maybe it's just me but Bomfunk's original video has much more of a feel and authenticity to it.
