They’re not just brother and sister, (not brother and sister at all actually) they’re soulmates. After A Dance with Dragons, I don’t know how people can’t see there’s something deeper to them than just sibling/cousins. It’s unconditional love. And to answer your question, GRRM seemed to want it, he intended it from the very beginning. Many say it’s been discarded but GRRM hasn’t straight out said it was, and was very upset when he found out his original outline for asoiaf was leaked. If Arya was pretty like Sansa no one would have any issues shipping her with Jon, but since she’s not it’s “gross,” or “strictly platonic.”
@@shaki8557 Of course it is unconditional love my soulmate is my best friend but we are not sexually attracted to each other at all, just a very very deep emotional connection. I also feel unconditional love for my sis and i would die for her and kill for her if it is neccesary. And ik they are not actually bro and sis but they grew up like that and in my opinion a sexual relationship would destroy their relationship. And I think it is way more tragic if a family member or best friend dies for someone, than love interest. That Was way too much in books. But that's just my opinion 😂 and i didn't really find hints to a sexual attraction between those two. They are soulmates but not twin flames if you know what i mean. And I don't think Arya would really like to date him and marry him. I actually don't think she should have a love interested at all. Almost every woman in asoiaf is in love or something. And she felt more sexually attracted to Gendry (Yeah ik she Was 9 or 10). I think it was in asos when she thought about Gendry muscles and so on😂 maybe he belong to her but i think it was like Teenie love. But arya and sexual attraction to Jon doesn't really belong into one sentence for me. It just feels wrong.
They will always be my 2 favorites on the show. You captured them perfectly! I still hate that Arya didn't go exploring North of the Wall with Jon or he didn't go West of Westeros with her.

They could have moved on with Bran in Iron Throne, Sansa as Winter Queen, leaving Jon and Arya to explore West of Westeros. Hell! It could have been a new series, something that I would dote for. Well said. When I say this elsewhere they downvote me! She's out of favor right now because "she stole the Night King from Jon." Heck, she was JOn's sword. Syrio told her she was a sword. She and Jon had the purest brother-sister love in eight seasons, despite separation. Sigh. I hope she visits him when she comes back to Westeros.
My brother said, in the book Jon Snow really Loved her. I mean love. That's why he's fall for Ygritte because in the first blink Ygritte remained him with Arya. I don't know if in the book. Jon Snow will had a deep feeling like Jaime Cersei or what but....oh man they're bonding always make me crying. And they're bonding for me more deep than Jonarys in the show. Don't get me wrong I like Jonarys but, I understand if Jon choose Arya more than Daenerys. (if he must choose)
