  • 8th & FINAL Installment of Jamtasm's Summer Musical Series
Pretty much I saved the best till last. Thought I might do something a lil different and special for the intro :)
Les Mis' is my all-time favorite musical, which may seem strange because it's not a 'Triple-Threat' musical as it doesn't have any dance. But that just means the pure drama of the acting, singing and the powerful score just makes up for it.
I fell in love with the score years ago even though I'd never seen the show at all, and after 4 years of obsession I finally fulfilled my dream and saw it in London's West End Queen Theatre. Breathtaking experience.
Les Mis' is a rich concoction of romance, loyalty, redemption, duty, sorrows of war, revolution and honour. Set in the early 19thC France, based on Victor Hugo's classic novel, Les Mis takes us into the journey of one man, Jean Valjean and his experience of redemption. It examines the nature of law and grace, the history of France, politics, moral philosophy, antimonarchism, justice, faith, and the nature of romantic & family love. All bound together by one of the strongest musical scores ever written by the Powerhouse Duo C.M Schoenberg & Alain Boublil, including my all-time musical favorite "One Day More".
Hope this gives a lil taste of what to expect if you ever hear the musical, and, inspire you to check it out! I hope I've done this musical justice and I do thank those of you who actually committed to sitting and watching/listening to this for 20mins!!! Hats off to you! (I actually realized I accidentally left out a few songs; "Lovely Ladies/Turning", "Red & Black", "Dog Eat Dog" and some other more 'dialogue' songs...D'oh).
    *Songs in order of appearance:
    1. Overture
    2. Look Down
    3. At the end of the Day
    4. I dreamed a Dream
    5. Castle on a Cloud
    6. Master of the House
    7. Stars
    8. A Heart full of Love
    9. On my Own
    10. Do you hear the People sing
    11. In my Life
    12. A little fall of Rain
    13. Drink with me
    14. Bring him Home / God on High
    15. Empty Chairs at Empty Tables
    16. One Day More
And that's the end of the Summer Musical Series! Hope you enjoyed it! =)

Very enjoyable. Since seeing this marvelous musical in concert (10th anniversary) a few years ago, it has become my favorite musical of all time. I marvel that 20th century musicals just got better and better, until I thought they just couldn't be more wonderful. Then came Les Miz! And Philip Quast!

Hey thanks for watching and enjoying it! :)
Honestly 96% of this is straight from the Les Mis piano book and the Piano-Conductor score (which you can find on 4shared.com) The rest is just me making my own transitions into the next song, which you can improvise some chords, melodies and motives to intertwine one song to the next. I'm sure you can use your own creativity & imagination to make it sound awesome!!
All the best with it!! :)

Hi, thanks for watching and enjoying it! unfortunately I don't really have the time to transcribe it all, but fortunately it's not too hard at all, 95% of it is simply playing the song just as you would from the piano/vocal book. There's 3-4 songs that I got from the piano conductor score. There's nothing that I've done that's totally unique; as long as you know how to play each song, you can figure out a way to blend them in your own creative way!
    Good luck!

haha, aww thanks mate; I'm glad you enjoyed this. Unfortunately I don't have the means to make a tutorial video due to the lack of internet and time as I work on a ship. Honestly, all the songs can be learnt through any Les Mis Piano-Vocal book. You can easily obtain them online these days through various websites I'm sure. And then just find a creative way to link them all up! :)
All the best with it my friend!

hmmmm, an interesting thought; never considered it, especially as I'd have to re-record all the covers with a proper studio recording set-up (or at least have proper recording equipment). But I'm a fair bit away from having the funds to do that. If I ever have the time and resources to do it, I'll certainly let you know!
