You don't need a valve to turn off the soap container. It only works with the low-pressure black nozzle. If you put in the Turbo, 20 degrees, or 40-degree nozzle, it will not work. I own the same one. This machine is only designed to spray the soap with the black low-pressure nozzle.

I bought mine for $8. It had water damage from the sprinklers going off inside a store and I opened up the box and it was all wrapped in plastic and worked right out the box.

Mine keeps shutting off every 10 minutes. I bought the same one as you. Something about holding the valve on or it shuts off. Will give it a try.
