There is a small, thin washer that came with the small, plastic, black gear that attaches to the crankshaft. In putting things back together and assuming working on this engine upside down as you have it here, would you happen to know if that washer would sit on top of the gear or on the bottom? Thanks!
Really helpful great video. Watched as was really looking for crankshaft bottom seal replacement as mine leaked very quickly after new, and then bought new mower as did not have time then. Any tricks for fixing/replacing seal or video?
I was wondering, for the nut on the crankshaft (flywheel side), is it clockwise or counter-clockwise to loosen? I'm a bit lost on conflicting search results, and without an impact drill heh.
Is it possible to weld the shaft that the blade bolts to? Sadly i have a spot next to the keyed out area that broke off. just wasn't sure if the metal is cast or steel.
That's a good question and I'm not exactly sure. It's not something I would try due to liability so it's never crossed my mind. I would say it's cast so not sure how that might work out. Sorry.
@@brantsmallenginerepairs Thank you for the reply and no problem, it looks like cast but wasn’t sure if it was ever done. My worry was if I didn’t get it balanced after welding and cleanup would it have an adverse effect on it.
@@thephreak2151 I think it definitely would but to what extent? It's definitely out of balance right now with a chunk missing so stands to reason if you could weld it, it would be better than it is now.
It was a used one from one of my other mowers. If you're looking to replace one, try a small engine mechanic in your area or look for a cheap mower in the classifieds that has the same engine. Otherwise, you might want to try an online parts seller like Jack's Small Engines or ProParts Direct. Good luck.
@@brantsmallenginerepairs I tried starting spray, replacing the plug and still nothing. I was gonna give up. After a dozen times of pulling the starter chord I felt there was compression until it fires. It now runs out of the blue. Thanks.

Bottom of gear. Washer goes on shaft first, then gear. Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a comment. Cheers

I don't have a video but here's a link to donyboy73. He's got a video over there. Hope this helps. Cheers

On mowers, it would be counterclockwise to remove. On some 2 strokes, it's the reverse. Hope this helps. Cheers
Very Helpful Thank the Lord and Your Video !!!...God Bless !!!

Can you open it up without removing the fly wheel
How you take the pully off the shaft my pully and blade plate are stuck
Thanks for watching. Here is a video on how to remove a stuck blade adapter. Cheers.

Where did you source your new crankshaft from ??

@@brantsmallenginerepairs I am a small engine mechanic but with the pandemic new parts are harder to source 👍
I know what you mean
I followed step by step on this video and my engine still doesn't work even after few attempts. It turns over but still won't fire up. Any idea folks?
Check fuel, spark and compression. Gotta be one of those 3.
