I learned how to drive in my dad's which was very similar. Most of the survivors are coupes, convertibles, or hardtop (no B pillar) six window and 4 window sedans. These base level 98's with B pillar are now few and far between. My dad hated radio noise when driving so it was ordered without a radio but with air and autronic headlights. It was black with a light gray/silver interior. The slim Jim automatic seemed to have a 1st gear almost like a granny gear, but when it shifted to second it was gone! I would love to have one to restore. Nothing in the entire GM lineup had the rumbling exhaust note from the factory or Super Rocket V-8's!
With a very nice, old car like that I would most definitely rebuild the original engine and keep it "original", as its only original once. That is a highly optioned and beautiful car; I'd spend more time and money fixing it up.
you are definitely right J!; I totally agree. Those old beauties are only original once for sure so i would agree on rebuilding the engine and fixing it up and such etc.
I had a 63 Dynamic 88 with the 394 and 2 BBL carb. The 394s were notorious for blown head gaskets. Bad when you need to replace 'em, as they weigh a ton. But good for me that a farmer at 66,000 on his 64 had blown one. I got his Slim Jim with the prettiest pink transmission fluid I had ever seen. It actually shifted smoothly, lol. I would encourage you to check the compressions, and also make sure you don't have a bad plug wire. Nice looking interior. Does it have AM/FM with rear speaker/fader? Jim
Thats a knob you can turn that moves a needle on the speedometer that is supposed to make a buzzing noise when you go over the speed you have it set at. I've never actually tried to use it.
3/4 tank of gas sitting until next year? I think you're very lucky to not have serious bad gas issues as is. All I can hope for is that the gauge was way wrong or you'll be back to siphon out most of it and use it up.
I kinda thought maybe you would at some point do a full restoration on that olds since it looks like a pretty nice ride and fix everything and maybe make it a occasional summer driver that you could take out on the main roads. But u said it would probably be cost prohibitive to do that as far as rebuilding the engine goes. do u think u would ever make it a summer vehicle like that?
ever do a compression test after the engine is warmed up? I'm thinking that one low cylinder might not be all that bad. I think i've seen engines run worse on all 8! haha
She's a keeper! Love the old Oldsmobiles and Fords!

A very nice looking Oldsmobile. One to keep her going. Thumbs up 👍
I love it! It sounds just like my 67 olds. Won't be long before I fire my olds up and bring her out of the winter slumber.

Thats such a nice classic Olds, always starts up no matter what!
Great example of vintage American steel!
Holy crap that thing fired right up and very fast. Wow that new fuel pump really hopes it start better now.
Runs like a champ.

My favorite olds are the 59-60 4 door flatop
Sounds good even with a slight miss.

Good video Bah :)...I see that Old Chevy C10 from the "Will it start" videos is still sitting there lol.
Yeah, I don't think that Chevy will move anytime soon.
Lol nothin new for a chevy. What is the story on that truck though?
wow you plan on getting it back on the road soon
besides the low compression in one cylinder, potential summer car it's probably the best out of all of them.
The red Chrysler, maybe an update on it??
I could do that when I get around to putting the tarp back up over it.
Love that car! What is the Safety Sentinel switch on the dash for??

It lowers your high beams, when a car approaches you.

I'll use it as an occasional summer driver again.

I've never done a hot compression test on it. The compression isn't horrible on that one cylinder just a decent amount lower than the rest.
welcome back its been awhile
Why don't you put collector plates on it? One time fee of $50 good for as long as you own it.
I'll probably do that to most of my older ones before I put them back on the road.
How rare is the 6 window pillerless holiday sedan?
Very think there was 1375 made I might be wring on that but they are rare
keep up the great work love your videos n by the way how long was that car siting
I parked it in November of last year.
Still no engine in the 60 Dodge yet.. :-)
Haha no, I work kinda slow lol.
Is that a 394 c.u. 4 bbl.?
Yes
Dude you invest on the thing just to drive it down your driveway?
No I used to drive it around alot more than I have in the last few years.
☺😎👍👌
Would you sell that car ?
Belongs in a garage.
fix the red f150
Really? Not going to rebuild i t? Not going to treat it worth a damn? Keep it parked until Spring? Jesus christ, why even own it?
