Wife and I would go everywhere on it as a tourer did UK wales up North and often being in Bristol jumped the Ferry at Plymouth and in Brittany for 3 day every 3rd weekend. Tiering on the forearms and neck but they strengthened up quick. Wish never sold it but have bought another January this year and am in the process of rebuilding after I stripped it down as didn't know what was under the fairings. Done sprockets (both) Chain bearings. Cooling system both oil and water. Front shocks off ,new seals and fresh oil and all brakes completely refurbished with piston seals. pads pressure pipes and master cylinder overhaul. Oh new tyres been standing for 3/4 years. Its coming back together slowly at present as convalescing from operation on foot but will be out this season that's for sure and will get back into being a motor cycle Instructor again thats for sure,
i had one wish never sold it now, it was great bike but very heavy but the faster you went the lighter it became on a straight line felt like your on rails nice and smooth but very easy to get caught out on a corner as you have to muscle it to make it turn if you dont know the roads
I added a 1991 CBR1000F to my small collection of 90s sport bikes.. It has the so called ‘Benetton’ paint scheme, pink/black etc.. It has 23k miles and is all original. It’s certainly different (big & heavy) compared to my other bikes, but I like it 😁👍🏼

Had mine for 30 years almost......have tried other bikes but with Bridgestones on its the best if both worlds....it's now more tour sports but will leave all BMW'S of the same age in the weeds...I road mine from Reading to Aberdeen 553 miles and then danced at at a disco. Great all-rounder very underestimate...I'm not sell it
I passed my bike test in 1990 and went straight out on the same day and bought one of these as my first bike proper. It was a wonderful comfortable bike and very reliable. I had standard bars which seemed higher than those you have. Only problem I really found was chains and sprockets and plastics.That’s a keeper mate,it handles great too🙃

Extreme....I sold my Harley V rod for a Benelli Tornado 900 tre and that took 3 months. My neck arms, you name it ached, but I persevered and came through it.
I went on the back of this bike when I was a young lad, the rider told me he was gonna take it steady….well, I nearly came off the back at 100mph. Only thing that stopped me was gripping his thighs with my legs to stop my legs from flipping over and sending me off the back; the acceleration was brutal. I’ll never forget it. I was white as a sheet when I got off. I’m older now and have a ZZR1100 1999, which is a lot faster, but I’ll never forget that trip, though.
I had one for 10 years. Just tyres, batteries, chain and oil. Used it touring 2 up with full Givi luggage. Same ( best) colour. Lovely, heavy , but stable. Why did I sell it?

I think the mirage is correct since most bikers owns more bikes maybe the previous owner was a bit older person cbr1000f is not much interesting for the elderly people because of speed and sitting position in comfortable for the elderly backbone,but to me I really enjoy it.give it a try,first ask for a test drive then you can access what you can feel about it
I recently acquired a 1991 CBR1000F and that's the first thing I thought when I sat on it for the first time (I bought it in pieces, so the seat wasn't on it) - the handles are too far forward and too low. They call it a "touring" model, but I doubt that I would ride it more than an hour or so before tiring of leaning forward. I've wondered about a solution that involves extending the handles. There are riser kits, as cheap as $40 and expensive as $500. Funny that the designers of this bike didn't really consider this and do something about it.
It's a fast and comfortable super sport with a smooth & bulletproof turbine of an engine that is known in the community to last 100K+ miles if taken care of (on that note, it's simple and easy enough to work on yourself). It's not the quickest or most nimble of its class/era, but it was a better total package than the rest with typical Honda best fit and finish from that era that you can ride all day long. This was the predecessor to the CBR 1100XX Blackbird and one of the fastest bikes in the world when it came out (by '99 not so much). It's HEAVY, but feels lighter than it is when you get going. Problem areas: Regulator/Rectifier (like all Hondas of the era), cam chain tensioner noise (not a big deal - read about it online). Likes: the engine is a subtle beast of a thing and will surprise you when tuned right. There were very few changes other than plastics and brakes through the years - and you can still find parts for them. Very dedicated community- of you're serious read up on them at the CBR 1000F "Hurricane" forums!
@@aaronmacadams4052 How far forward are you on the wrists? I had a BMW K1200RS last and that took me forward more than the CBF1000 that I am used to. I have a pinned and plated shoulder, is all, but the BM did not bother me. It is up in Scotland, so will be two train rides and one hell of a ride back to the NE if I buy. Ta.
Forward lean on the 1000F is sportier and more forward than you expect, but not extreme. You have options to swap in other handlebars (like the VFR) but I added genmar risers (maybe an inch higher than stock) and like the mod. Check out cycle-ergo.com to compare ergonomics.
@@Eastsussexbiker If your CBR is after 91 you can get bar risers. The VFR 750 bars only bring it up and towards you a little but a lot of people say that is enough. No it is a straight swop, nothing has to be changed. Make sure you don't get the early 39mm ones. Found mine in brand new condition for £25 on ebay. Good luck.

I bought a 1990 last year and just got it running. Mine runs way hotter, the temperature gauge is about 2/3 of the way. Can anyone tell me if this is normal?
yours is a red white and blue one from 90 I have a 91 red and black some respondents mentioned the vfr bars your stanchions are dia 43 mm so you need the later vfr800 vtec bars with 43 mm holes they are very rare you gain 35 mm higher and about 30 mm to the back I have them on both of my blackbirds on a long run the seat support is not good and you bum will ache
Back in the day this was my dream bike , still a looker even now . Lucky man .

I passed my bike test in 1990 and went straight out on the same day and bought one of these as my first bike proper. It was a wonderful comfortable bike and very reliable. It needed head bearing which I replaced and transformed it.

When you owned it, did you ever get use to the handle bars?
They were ok but I don't remember them being that low when I rode one back in the 90's
Get some VFR750 bars on it make sure they are after 1990 they changed the fork size then.
