I love this man for him humbleness and his music. He has had a life working hard and has retained such sweetness in his voice and manner. His daughters are so devoted to him, that you know he was a wonderful father.

So humble and sincere, The sincerity and humility that completely disappeared in our musicians and singers since 80s, is preserved in this man.

@@bettyboo8214 Absolutely! The most remarkable and profound lesson i learnt from Rodriguez is that humility is the most important attribute a person can strive for.

I’m so sad that this incredible human is no longer with us, but at the same time, I am so grateful that he lived. I saw the documentary at a very turbulent time in my life, and it lifted me up and inspired me to keep going. Rodriguez really does come off as a “wandering spirit”, as one producer describes him in the film. He keenly observed the world around him and communicated his observations in the most poetic and beautiful way possible. His humility and warmth come through in every interview of him, and you can tell how special he was as a person by the way his daughters and friends speak of him. RIP Rodriguez and thank you for sharing your gift with us.

as a south african that grew up on this music, our parents played it at every get together - its still boggling to know that he was unknown in america - of course we never really had access to tv and the internet and spent most of our time riding elephants and hunting lions. id be embaressed as an american to have missed this. The words to all his songs, poetic. This guy was bigger than the beatles over here.

The real story and discovery of Rodriguez wasn't by South Africans who just passed bootleg copy cassettes around and thought he was dead! It was Aussies who actually paid for and imported his records on mass from the USA and then locally released them, then paid him to come to tour Down Under in '79!
No one called him Sixto btw...
It was always Rodriguez or Rod, even to his bandmates etc.
    RiP Rodriguez ❤

Two tours in Australia which included a show in Sydney to close to 15,000 people in 1979...a best of album and a live album...16 sold out shows in 1981....all his albums went double platinum...and his 'Cold Fact' album is part of standard catalogue stock in all chart stores in Australia, even today....hardly complete obscurity methinks....but anyway you English and South Africans can believe whatever....people with a clue know the cold fact that this doco is pure myth making.....
