I remember reading an interview with Ronnie where the question was, "ARS and Skynyrd meet in a dark alley. Who makes it out?" His answer was, "Ain't enough whiskey in the world to get me into an alley with Robert Nix."

I never knew that Robert nix played on Tuesday's gone and I also did not know so into You was written about Leslie Hawkins that's why I love these videos. Rest in peace Barry Bailey Atlanta rhythm section is one of my all-time favorite bands
I just don't think Alot of people realize just how important skinard is as far as the circle of Rocknroll.They were our Beatles in many ways.The sheer volume of Tough Pop Rock Hits they produced in a short time span is truly astounding!!God Bless Mr. Pyle.Thanks Joe.

My daughter and 2 of her friends, actually performed with The APB near Sioux Falls a few years ago, he needed 3 lady singers to help him as a version of The Honkettes ❤️, and they were awesome. Our friend Colene Walters, who was with Porter Wagoneer for years, actually arranged it, so she, my daughter and another friend, and did an amazing job.
Ed King and I became friends 10 years ago, a beautiful man, his wife and 2 dogs🥺💔🙏

Another winning interview! Very informative and very moving. Whenever I hear about the plane crash I get emotional, all these years later. I hope to some day go to the memorial they have up near the crash site. Thank you for sharing this interview with us and I can't wait for part 3!

I saw Skynard open for Allman Brothers shortly after Duane died. I lived in Baton Rouge in 1977 and planned to see them in New Orleans when the plane went down. I remember the shock and sadness.

Joe, I wanted to add that I enjoyed your discussion of the Atlanta Rhythm Section. I loved all their music and saw them several times at Alex Cooley's Electric Ballroom. Did you know Alex Cooley? He brought Rock & Roll to Atlanta in late 60s & 70s. He put on the legendary Pop Festivals in 1969 & 1970. I saw many great acts at his Electric Ballroom, Johnny Winter, Nugent, Taj Mahal, etc. He made Atlanta a great city for Rock & Roll.

I always thought that Atlanta Rhythm Section was very under-rated...a top-notch band, in my opinion. Always loved So Into You...great Wurlitzer intro, great guitar solo, what a super groove tune.
I saw ARS debut the album with "So Into You" on it at the Roxy in Hollywood - front center. Very tight. Very memorable.

Thank for what you do Joe. I love watching these interviews. A like and sub is the least I can do. finally back work after 2 years of covid restrictions. Live entertainment was hit hardest than anyone I believe. I know tourism has to be a close second.

Xcellent interview of a Southern Rock legend, talking about other Southern Rock legends. I have a broken Artimus Pyle drum stick - thin strips of duct tape wrapped around it in a crisscross pattern - that I snagged at a Skynyrd concert at Winterland a year b4 the crash. My favorite souvenir from the 70s and one of my favorite all-time concerts.
I would really love to see Joe interview Howard Leese, Steve Fossen or Roger Fisher of Heart…that would be a fun interview!
#SemperFi Artemis! My dad was a Marine! He taught me Give Me 3 Steps as one of the first songs I learned on my Yahama flat top in 79. I was 13 & my guitar 🎸 was my present that year.. I live in north Mississippi & I remember the day of the crash vividly.. I'll never forget that day. It was the day the music died for me. My labomba so to speak... Thank you for your wonderful talent over the years & your wonderful memories you've shared with us & I how your with us many more years sweetie. I've been to the memorial and it is a sight to behold. But what really struck me was on the fence behind the memorial is a sign that reads " private property do not enter" . And the crash site is a little ways onto that property.

Nothing can help you move past the trauma of a plane crash faster than getting shot in the shoulder at the first farmhouse you come to. Damb-never knew that odd part of the story. Bring on part 3-awesome cliff-hanger.
I saw the property owner who "supposedly" shot him,interviewed and he said that didn't happen.

Damn...I bought pronounced with some of my brother's friends on January 31st, 1975.NO 1974...It was New Year's eve still.for the party that night...we went back and listened to it and fell in love..I had just turned 17...Tempe AZ...
I hated disco..did not dance..from KC ...loved country....country rock got me through disco...
These guys were stolen from us....so young

Wow. Just for a moment it was 1976 all over again for poor ol Artimus.
He's right, they were on fire that Summer. I watched them perform at the Liberty Bowl Stadium on July 4th of that year. I'm certainly glad that I got to see the band at the top of their game.
A saw them that summer, at Anaheim Stadium, with REO Speedwagon, Ted Nugent, and Foreigner. Each band was in their heyday. The Skynyrd guitars and Gary Richrath, of REO, ruled the day!
@@obbor4 Those shows back then were nuts. ZZ Top actually headlined that night. Outlaws and BOC played, too. Ten freaking bucks. Hell an ounce was $15. Lmao.

Saw Skynyrd for the first time in 1987 when the band got back together and played the Volunteer Jam at Starwood Amphitheater in Nashville. Later that year they I think it was 10 19 1987 they came back to Nashville and played there first show as they were going on tour. God Bless Lynyrd Skynyrd

I was at the Kiel that nite for the Charlie Daniels show in st.louis. I was 15.
What’s crazy is there’s a race track at the exit off the interstate where the monument is I’ve been going there since 1994 and I never knew the crash site was only a mile or two from where I’ve been racing until that monument went up

I was shot once with a shotgun and it put me flat on my back. It was like getting hit by a truck. I wasn`t severely injured though.
Did he speak at his funeral?
Not to make lite of the tragedy of the plane crash but injured in a plane crash only to get shot....crazy bad day.
Very engaging stuff; Artimus is a character. Joe, excuse my lack of knowledge about these interviews, but why do you break them into 20 minute segments? Why not just run the whole interview in one shot?
Hi Gary… we started showing this show on tv here in Nashville so we cut away for commercials. We just kept that format when we started showing on UA-cam. Actually we even cut some of them even shorter because UA-cam viewers don’t… as a whole… like longer interviews. If you watch our channel though you will see we eventually show the interviews completely from start to finish for viewers like you who prefer it. I know it’s hard to really know even if you’re in the middle of it. My wife and I saw a minor car accident in front of us and we both had different stories. Thanks for watching… Joe

I hate that the aftermath of the plane crash turned everything south and against each other. Does Artimus have the correct story, I dont care, I wasn't there. When you crash in an airplane I am guessing you are disoriented and in shock. I would say its amazing he remembers anything at all.
Either way .. keep on rocking from a fan who saw you guys in the early 70s forward.
