    Heheheheheh! Super classic. Reminds me of my younger brother when he went to a neighbours birthparty party in 1975 and this was one of the songs played at the party. It was his first party to attend and he sang the song for days thereafter, never mind he was incoherrent with the words.

    Mandala reminds me of Vincent Odhiambo, Onyango Kikworo, Ombura, Alex Ogutu etc. Time has gone. During our secondary school days in Miwani. Weekend boys dressed in set-me free trauser would shake their legs in a buggy dance as we wait for a new week to begin.

    I watched a terrific live performance of this song at the then Garden Square Restaurant, Nairobi in 1986.On rhythm guitar was a young late friend, John Ngeresa. Lead vocalist was Kasongo wa Kanema.

    • @ogana_M
      @ogana_M 4 роки тому +4

      @Titus Mukiama.The song was released by Grand Pizza along with Mwana Mawa in 1976. Kasongo wa kanema was a Super mazembe band member. It was not common then for members of one band to play live songs from another band.

    This song was sang well by some students in the domitories of our high school [Moroto High, Uganada]. The boys that sang this were those rascals who didn't comb their hairs and smocked cigarettes, as if they were officers. A group of bullies. Memories alive. Thank you Bwana Darubini.

    Yes, Idi Amin encouraged goodlife, on condition you didn't cross him. This radio was based at (Dakabella),Soroti, It was built by Yugoslavia experts under the non aligned movement. It broadcasted East and Central Africa 24/7.

    Wangira, Wangira , Wangirs of Homa Bay High. Where did they go? Where all bands go my brother? I remember we used to dance to Temptations' papa was a rolling stone. I recently watched a documentary and felt very foolish when I realised the band split long before the music reached Africa

      Idi Amin's Radio Uganda was very powerful and clear. It broadcast widely and was even received in Europe on Short Wave. But as usual, it may have been foolishly destroyed in vengeance and/or looting. And we can't build another one like it. It also entertained us with such great songs even as the mass murders went on.
