Here is an answer to all those who are looking for maximum RAM capacity on the Asus Vivobook 15 X515JA series laptops, the laptop supports a maximum of 20/24 GB RAM depending on whether the RAM soldered on your motherboard is 4/8 GB. Though Asus suggests that this series supports a maximum of 12 GB RAM, You can literally add a 16 gb RAM on the single RAM slot given on the motherboard. The system will work like a charm. I did the same despite ASUS telling me not to do that, but yes it works and helps a lot in multitasking (I am using multiple applications like 2-4 chrome windows with 80-100 tabs per window, word, excel and R, simultaneously and the system works very well. Hope this will help someone who has invested a lot of his time searching for the solution instead getting confused reading various suggestion on the internet.

Hello i have a problem with my asus x515EA laptop. I bought a 16gb ram stick to get from 8gb to 20gb ram. Before i had a replaceable 4gb ram and a built in 4gb ram in the mainboard. After installing the 16gb ram into the slot everything worked well and i had 20gb ram in total (16gb + 4gb built in ram). After that i made a bios update for the laptop and when it finished the ram is only 16gb according to the task Manager and now the laptop is only using 1 of 2 ram slots. How can i fix this ? Pls anyone help me with this.
is your laptop have ryzen processer the that 4 gb ram is taken by in the term of graphic its perfectly natural in fact even better
@@HarshRaj-is1hz there is a intel core i5 processor in the laptop.
@@EmpireCool4 click window + r button then write dxdiag then go to display memory and see if you have 4 gb graphic or not
@@HarshRaj-is1hz I dont see any point that sais 4gb graphic.
The cooling design is quite interesting
You are right, makes very little sense 😅
Do I need to install or reinstall anything if I'm just adding more ram to my 4gb laptop?
Nope, when upgrading ram! Just add ram stick and you are good to go👍
@@ToxicNerd Thank you for the help.
Hey brother please help me....I have same model x515EA. which has 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD. I'm using this laptop form 2021. But I recently updated my windows 10, and now its only shows 4GB ram...please tell me why?
Then I see device specifications on the laptop box. they mentioned (4GB+4GB) RAM on board...what it means....?, and aslo my laptop's task manager shows 2 slot for RAM, one is used and one is empty, but when I opened it. Laptop has only 1 RAM slot...
Please help....😢🙏🏻
Hello my friend, I am Okan from Turkey. Let me tell you this. For your information, only the remaining 1 slot embedded in the 4Gb motherboard is also available for upgrade.
How much RAM can this laptop support? Would a 16 GB RAM card be supported for a total of 20 GB RAM?
so the 4gb soldered + 8gb would work? @@feliperodriguez2486
@@renatoh.santosdasilva3080 My mistake, already ordered a 16gb stick for my 4 gb asus x515 and it works, i have 20gb know, so yeah 4 + 8 would work, and also 4 + 16

can i upgrade ram?
Bro did everything but failed to install or upgrade 2.5 SSD

Hi bro can i use 512 gb m.2 on this laptop? İ have same laptop
Hi, yes you can👍
@@ToxicNerd thank you😃
Hi ! It can be upgraded only with 4gb ram ?
As far as I know ram memory work well only in pair with same values like 2 × 4gb or 2 × 8gb or 2 × 12gb .
If i add extra 8gb ram to the existing 4gb as far as i read on some forums might not work well.
Please let me know you view 👍
Just tried installing 8gb and it crashed
damn man, really? @@nnikitov57
Does this laptop work with dual channel memory? I have 8GB Ram 3200MHz soldered. If I add another 8GB Ram 3200MHz, will it enable dual channel? I heard from one source that it doesn't work dual channel, only single.
I think it will

@@ToxicNerd can you do video of where the cmos CLRTC is on the motherboard for F512d asus vivobook.
Hey man have you installed 16gb ram? Is it working fine? Plz let me know, i will do the same then.
I have this laptop with the 8GB onboard ram. What is the maximum capacity of ram that can be installed, 16GB or 32GB ram?
have you tried this , i am confused as the asus tech team told me that 12 is the max you can have which means i can get the 4 replaced by an 8 and not with 16 stick !! let me know if you have got it working
its processor can be changed
can't we not take out the battery?
is possible upgrade the gpu?
Nope! No GPU upgrade possible.
is this applicable to x515DA?
Can I add HDD hard to this model?
yes you can it has a 2.5" sata space, you can also add a 2.5" SSD if you choose

Is cl22 supported in this laptop?
Can i upgrade my ram from 4gb in the mother board to 16gb ram 3200 mhz my cpu is ryzen 5 3500U..?
Hi, have not tested personally but pretty sure that you can.
is it possible to upgrade to an i7?
Nope, CPU is soldered to MB so only way to upgrade is to buy new motherboard!
Great video, thanks. My laptop should be 16gb as I've just changed the rmsick from an 8gb one. But it's still showing 8gb. Any ideas please to fix this.
Change DDR, it s fake 16GB. Or install CPU-Z and it show you exactly the DDR capacitat you installed on.
My laptop is also X515EA, Can I upgrade my graphics card which is Intel UHD? Lastly, I want to replace the 640x480 0.3mp camera. Is it possible to replace it with a 720p or 1080p webcam?
Hi, no you can't upgrade graphics, chip is soldered to the motherboard! About camera.. i have no idea.
@ToxicNerd hi how to find CMOS battery can reset password bios
is there a slot for GPU?
Nope, GPU or CPU are not upgradable
can you tell me weather it's better for gaming to take out the 4gb ram and put a 16gb one? I would have 20gb total (4gb solded + 16gb = 20gb). Will the laptop run games better in these configurations, without the dual channel benefit from the two ram memory cards?
