What a nice video. At 12.08 you"ll see the white house attached to the port. That was the house from my great grandparents. My mom was there a lot as a child and during war, when she was affraid as a child for the noise of the planes in the air, she was running to the house of her grandparents and hiding herself under the skirts of her grandmother, the only place where she felt safe. My great grand father was a fisher man. The people were poor in that time but very tidy and organised, always busy with cleaning (and very religious).I had a great childhood in Hattem, always being outside and discovering and we were going on our bikes everywhere already at the age of 7.

At 14:49 you get a pretty good view of the back of the working grain mill, De Fortuin. Purchased by my 2nd great-grandfather, Klaas Blom. You’ll find our family name over the wide double door, into the mill. My 1st great-grandfather, Jan Blom, was a miller/grutter, my mom’s “opa”. Her father, my opa, Hendrik Blom, born in Hattem, went into the Merchant Marines, and landed in Indonesia. Only returned back to Holland at end of WWII. De stam boom van m’n moeder komt uit Hattem.
Crooked trees give areas like 11:40 so much character. So cool! Are you from. The Netherlands? I'm originally from Denmark, and will also go there to film soon
Damn the place changed a lot in the past 2 years. I work in a restaurant there now, and quite a few things have been modernized or renovated in these past 2 years apparently.
Ce serait plus beau si vous leviez votre caméra ou votre téléphone (pour mieux voir le splendide moulin et toutes ces maisons !!!) Merci 1000 fois! Bye
