- Love it or hate it, its here to stay and I promise you, its a grower. I like most, didn't like it when it first arrived. Now I love it, I mean really love it.
Yes its a T7 multivan, no its not replacing the current Transporter. Its hard to explain in text, watch the video and you'll see :)
We head over to Caffeine and Machine to meet up with a bunch of cool Transporter owners. If anyone know's if this thing can be made to look cool, its these guys.
Please do hit that like button, it really does mean a lot.
As always, thanks for watching.
If VW had removed the T7 ‘branding’ and just called it a MultiVan, no one would have batted an eye lid! There’s definitely a market out there for this 👌🏻
I agree. If they'd do that though, i wouldn't have been able to justify buying one to play with 😜
There’s always a reason, just need to apply some #manlogic 🤣
@@h12st_d63 true that 😬
Owning a T5 Multivan, I'm not a fan of how they've made the rear compartment with the seatbelts attached to the side wall instead of the seats in the T7.
I have a modified T6.1 2020, when I was choosing my van it was new... nobody thought it was good, now everyone thinks the T6.1 looks the best (unless you don't have one and well jel) but everyone will come to love what's comming unless you're living in the past,... simple!
Well said that man 🙌
I was one of those that did not like the look of it on line, then I saw one in person and loved it, now I want to get one, thanks for making this video!
Haha, they are a grower for sure :)
The new caddy has had all its style and desirability designed out of it. It looks extremely ordinary.
Our new caddy actually looks really smart with a few updates (headlights / suspension / splitter etc) We'll try and do a video update on that soon
Wasn’t too sure when I’d seen it online, but after seeing it at C & M it’s grown on me. As above; “Everything looks better lowered”
Haha, so much better in person for sure.
I love it. If I could afford one I would buy one, especially once it has been modified.
It's really impressive
Saw one at camper jam and actually liked it. They do look a hundred times better modified and lowered like yours though.
I'm glad you agree. So much better in real life,
looks way better than the standard one now, cant wait to see it on air !
Give us a few weeks and it'll be done 😍
Got to see my 1st T7 Multivan at BugJam, yup definitely looks better in person
That's seems the general thought for sure
The new Sharan Addison Lee spec. Dull as a beige Touran
They would defo suit Addison Lee. Proper luxury travel and comfort with all the toys. I would if they'd go short or long wheel base. A choice that's normally only available to a van.
I believe in your Hands will Look more better But we love it I just came back from Berlin Was amazing test drive Front bumper and the rear bumper Need some extra Touch
It's growing on me more and more every day.
Don't think it should have the t7 name but apart from that it's pretty cool! Sharp looks and your signature styling and it's looking good. Being a t4 owner it's still too modern for me though! 😆
T4! You're old school 👌💪
Anything looks nice low .
Mad but true it really does!
It's 100% does 🤷🏻♂️😬
What a great video. You are lucky to have a team that can modify then unmodify. Well done.
Yes we have a great team. They are what makes Transporter HQ special ❤️
Pretty cool! I've ordered the same colour
Great choice :)
The reason I bought my T5.1 Kombi in the first place was not only as it’s suited my lifestyle (love being outdoors & 3 kids) but I also just genuinely hate people carriers and for me the T7 is just to close to that. There clearly seems to be some confusion around where this sits in the Volkswagen suit but either way it s just doesn’t float my boat and I’m pretty confident it never will. Having said that the video does clear up a lot of questions and I can see why it would appeal to some people as a “new” product rather than a replacement. ✌️
Yeah, the layout inside is very much like a Transporter caravelle. Packed full of extra like USB-C charging points at each seat. So good to drive like a luxury car. Anyway, as we say, it's defo not a Transporter replacement.
I really like the look of these 🙂
Same here 😊
Lads you have made it look awesome. Retro and futuristic, best of both worlds.
I saw one a few weeks ago at campervan marmalade, the interior is amazing and multifunctional.
Thanks Darren. More to come. Yes the interior on them is stunning and very functional
Elliot’s T5…! 💯👌
I know right 😍😍😍

Best part about it is the twin sliding doors as the front end just doesn't cut it for me..Rishi sunak looks more aggressive and the rear just seems to bland.
I always find it amazing how car designers can make a wank looking vehicle but have the utmost confidence that once people have seen it a few hundred times it'll grow on them and they're almost always right, I cant think of many new cars I like the look of from the off but even those BMW's with the massive grills are starting to look ok now.
I totally agreed. I hated the T6, I hated the T6.1 event more. Now i love both. The thought the same about the new BMW's too
Those rear seats headrests looks like battle droids heads
Looks very nice I like the front and looks good Low any news on the caddy in joy everyone 👍👍👍👍👌👌👌👌
We've fitted our new headlights in the caddy this week. Some body styling arrives Monday I believe. I'll try and get an update out there in the next few weeks.
Outrageous price.
Yes they are a lot of money. It seems all new cars are going up now. There is always something to blame. Covid or Putin etc.
I totally agree that you guys can and will make this van look mint, you have the technology and you can rebuild it, however it does look a lot more like a caddy+ rather than a transporter. Ultimately I can't afford any of them so I've no skin in the game lol
Yes it's the MQB platform like the caddy.
@@THQAutomotive I think it's like a pug, not everyone likes them but almost everyone thinks they are cute. you guys have done a cracking job on just the few things that you've done already.
@@martinroberts4391 I'm more of a Frenchie kind of guy. (And that's to reference to the T7 multivan looking like an Espace 😬)
If a Caravelle/Multivan and a Sharan had a love child, this could easily be the result.
Whether it's perceived as offering the best of both worlds or perceived as not really appealing to anyone will remain to be seen.
I've a feeling VW know what they're doing 😀
I agree, VW know exactly what they're doing here.
It looks amazing love all of the styling you all have to think 2 years ahead
Thank you. We've not finished yet 😜
I like it and no doubt it wii get better when you put your spin on it
Yes still plenty more to do. I don't think we could do much to improve the inside. They've done a great job there.
The best Citroen Picasso money can buy
I don't understand but thanks for the comment.
TBF it looks a hell of a lot nicer than a Sharan or Touran and really that's what it's replacing
That is does
It's a replacement Sharron.
Simples
I like the look of them. Unfortunately it is nothing more than a people carrier. It can't carry loads, and I can't use it as a camper. It's a hard no from me!
I'll guess we'll see what happens when the van version comes out
i usually find it takes me time to understand where a new vehicle sits in a manufacturers lineup before i get it.
The Multivan is a cross between the Touran/Sharan and Transporter so a 3/4 sized van body.
All van style vehicles seem to be merging so much now plus aren't Ford and VW making a van together in 2025?
We only hate because we can’t afford it! We’ll all have one in 4/5 years time and be saying we loved them from day one!
This is so true for some people although they'd never admit it.
Most people like you said berated the T6.1 myself included when it first came out but now most people are now doing T6.1 front end conversions 🤣 I’m not jumping on that band wagon but yes I’m not a fan of this new T7 however it could well be a grower you’ve worked magic with it and improved it no end good work
Keep watching, I promise it will only get better. All that aside, If people could actually bring themselves to test drive one, I'd be super impressed with the drive and set up inside.
@@THQAutomotive I can well imagine it will work for a lot of people I have 8 kids so it just will never be an option for me, I live the ID buzz though for a second car for the Mrs so maybe this T7 could be a contender. Looking forward to see what you bring to the table with mods and styling
@@mattacdavison6890 can wait to get working on the ID buzz too

Still plenty more to do. Watch this space.
Truly do not understand the fuzz about it being called a T7. Really. We are in the process of ordering one, love the retro wheels, bit tad too low but that is easy to solve and personal choice. Following you guys !
Thank you, yeah i agree. I've actually fallen in love with the way this things drivers and the usability
Love it looks sweet 👌
Thanks Andy 🙌
Great video and really well explained. The multivan is pretty cool and I'm sure the styling mods you develop will be as sought after as ever. Now who's gonna bang air ride on one and start cutting it up?
Us, give me a few weeks ;)
The standard ones do nothing for me really not sure, but like a lot of people have said now its sitting right on the right wheels it improves the look massivly
We have a few more bits in the pipeline to improve it more.
Looking shocking standard but I think it will be ace once it’s been modded

Its a long bigger and comes in a SWB and LWB. The seat layout is pretty much the same as the Transporter Caravelle.
Reminds me of a Renault espace
That gives me a great idea for some new wheels for it 🤔 Let me speak to my friends at Navis Wheels 😝
@@THQAutomotive I also didn't mean it in a rude way.just the first thing that popped into my head lol
I like it but my drive is a T3/25 which are quite similar and looks great lowered.
A classic for sure 👌
Was a nice van but it’s ruined by dragging its underside on the floor. Obviously lots of people like that look, but go camping on a rough field and it will be smashing the front bumper off. Bet the handling is ruined too. Everyone to their own and I can see you have put lots of clever work into how it looks. Not one for me though.
Drives even better low. Reducing the centre of gravity. We'll put it on air next, so it'll lift at the touch of a button
The orange with navis wheel render you did looked so much better than this in gray with steels , Im not sure this model and spec can carry of the pimped commercial look
I'm personally not a fan of 2 tone but its good that we are all different. The steels aren't staying on this. We have some sexy split rims coming from Navis.
was he parked in Padstow harbour carpark, I think I saw it ? I thought initially ewwww but after a few good looks I can see how this could be improved. keep designing THQ its the future
Yes that was him
Not for me, should remove the T7 name as it’s not a Transporter. As a model that sits between the caddy and Transporter or as a Sharan/Touran replacement it’s ok although I thought that was where the Buzz would sit.
I guess it's bigger than an other people carrying vehicle they have done before (other than the caravelle) plus the sharan / Touran didn't come with the velle styling seating and the option of a short or long wheel base.
My two pence thought…..
VW sacked off the Touran and Sharan due to poor sales (apparently) but they came out with this which to my eyes looks like a updated version/combo of the two!!??
The rear end looks like the last Touran to me.
If I was a sceptical man (I am) I think they’ve branded it as a T vehicle in the hopes of people and companies like yourselves to jump on it to give it the kudos and cult status of previous T vehicles…. I quite like it, they just named it wrong imho.
Agreed
I think you have a strong point there. All that aside, it drives great and it really well equipped.
@@THQAutomotive no doubt it does, all new dubs do and are on a whole.
As I say, I do like it (with the styling tweaks)
If you think about it, it’s the same thing Ford did by putting the Connect vehicles under the Transit banner… automatically makes you think of commercial use.
Going off what I’ve heard about sales of the new Caddy, I wouldn’t at all be surprised if they sacked it off for the T7 or 7.1
@@tonyallen8590 it'll be interesting to see for sure
As a VW Technician and Having had several new Transporters since 2004 my only gripe is the van suspension is rough no matter what combination of springs and dampers are fitted. Koni Actives do work the best with std springs but I've not driven one lowered van that rides and handles properly mainly due to the loss of suspension travel. The T7 is built on Car suspension which is designed primarily for handling and comfort and is bound to ride and handle better than the Transporters if not lowered too much. I agree they all look better lowered but without damper travel they handle badly. The T7 will be popular and hopefully get people out of oversized SUV's
Really. I found the koni actives extremely underwhelming. There are far better suspension out there.
@@THQAutomotive In my mind a transporter van will never handle like a sports car but it could ride more like a Limo and less like a load carrier. Koni actives with caravelle springs is the best solution I've found. If you want low and stiff then yes there are stiffer damper rates available.
@@paulmcmorran3677 What others have you tried? I really didn't rate the Koni actives. I know many others that have tried them that thought the same
@@24k__J Apart from the people that own Caravelle's and the previous multi van?
@@THQAutomotive Have tried Koni adjustables and Bilsteins. The fundamemtal problem seems to be loss of suspension travel and once dropped 30-40mm you're virtually riding on the bump stops . I use Koni Actives which work great with OE Caravelle springs .They don't work with lowered springs as theres not enough travel to generate internal damper pressure. It would be useful if someone produced a shorter strut body to allow more travel when lowered.
I like it but the rear lights look a bit like a sharan’s. Maybe a sharan replacement
Can you please show us how big the boot is when there are only 4 seats?
Not sure I understand the fuss around them calling it a T7. Once the Multivan and Caravelle variants came out, "transporter" simply becomes the commercial variant of whatever Tx we're up to. The face and tail are growing on me. If they bring it out with 150kw 4motion & diff lock, I'll be sold. Thanks for the video! [Edit: I read more comments about the MQB and now understand. With the 2024 Transitporter on the way, I guess I better find myself a T6.1 in good nick!]
They do look 4motion ready as the rear hubs are splined ready for drive shafts.
Looks a bit too slick on the front for my taste. Hope for the commercial version they make it a little more badass like a manly work van, not like this family minivan look.
Got one on order, should get it by the end of September. Do you know when the body kits will be ready for sale?
Expensive people carrier. 😉
Agreed, it is awesome inside and to drive though.
No mention of T7 on VW commercial website. Does say the Multivan will replace the 6.1 Caravelle. How can they not call the next Transporter, based on the next Transit Custom a T7?
Time will tell
Value your opinion. Which is best the T7 or ID Buzz.? Personally think the T7 is disliked by some purely on sight.
We have a T6.1 / T7 and ID Buzz comparison video coming this week.
It’s no longer a transporter, it’s purely a people carrier that resembles a Citroen Picasso . You’ve made a the t7 far nicer than standard though so hats off to you guys but as a mtb rider , I’ll stay clear
But when the T7.1 commercial version comes? 😉......
It's not a T7 it's a multivan, the new transporter van will arrive next year, the bad news is that it will be built in conjunction with the next ford transit at a factory in Turkey
It's a T7 multivan. That's what it says on my invoice, that's what it says on all the marketing information VW sent us, that's what it said all over the display at the VW demo day event I was invited to. Unless they're all wrong 🤷🏻♂️

Except it's wider, longer, has the same seat set up as a Transporter Caravelle. Plus it also comes in a SWB and LWB version
It should be called a Sharan
Where and at what cost can I get one of those air suspension kits?
I want one for my T7
Is this kind of taking the place of the Sharan and the Routan?
No its the T6.1 caravelle replacement. It has Caravelle styling seats set up and floor and also comes as a SWB and LWB
Honestly I don't hate it but from a van point of view it looks like you sit too far back from the nose, looks more like a tall Caddy for an ICE Buzz. I figure this is probably around 4 cubic meter load rather than the 6 we're used to? That's what it looks like anyway.

Hello. Delayed until September now. The factory either blame Covid or Putin 🤷🏻♂️

It would be interesting to see how you get on with them and all the new electric vehicles coming through the VW network
So it’s basically a slightly bigger Sharan?
No not really. The seat configuration is very similar to the Caravelle, plus it comes in a SWB and a LWB the same as a van.
