The Ranger as more of a hunter than a tree-hugger is the best path for that class to take. If you want to be a tree-hugger, be a Druid or multiclass into that. Being a hunter gives it a distinct focus, something it lacks in earlier editions.
The 0.7 update deleted the ability for Warlocks to spend HP in place of MP, and made Wild Magic Sorcerer a choice at level 1 instead of baseline. Many people hated being forced to play WM sorcs x)
Ah I see. I thought it was kinda thematic to sorcerer. Maybe they could’ve just changed the table itself instead. It still only happened on crit. And too bad about warlock. It seemed VERY risk reward which I like a lot.
It was a litle too risky warlocks ran out off hp suuper quickly especially at lvl 1 i like it conceptualy but i agree with the changes Also wild magic is fun amd feels very Sorcery
The interesting thing with cleric blessing is that once you get a blessing, it's stored for you to apply to a spell. You can get a healing blessing, and them on a later turn cast say Sanctuary on someone and apply the blessing to just add heal 3 to it, or get a destruction blessing and then add it to a debuff spell.
I'm excited to try playing a Monk in DC20. I love the stances in PF2e. And the idea of offense vs defense with the resources here definitively paints a really different approach to their theme.
Yes, it was but thanks anyways! I actually reallly like the idea but yeah if you have a pocket healer you just never go out of mana. 😆 did they make it something like “for every HP you spend you have to spend a MP to match” or something?
@@CriticalMits So they used to be able to use MP enhancements (upcasting basically) by spending HP But yeah... constant upcasted heal spells and shield spells haha
Hmmm no Paladin that was my favorite as a player and as a DMs my groups have always included someone who chose it, unlike many of the other included classes in this
DC20 used to have an explicit paladin class, but it's getting folded into other places. You can play a paladin as a spellblade, a cleric, or a commander depending on what you want to focus on and what you use your talents for. Spellblade would be the first place I would look to for making a paladin. That's the one that gets access to the equivalent of smite earliest.
I think this is my first time watching you so I’m going to unfairly ask a question. All the UA-camrs cover all these classes because a majority of the people are players. But then the players want to play and they will look for a DM. As a DM who like to challenge players why the heck would I play this over something like Pathfinder? If it’s going to be just as much a pain the DM, who would I buy all the books when I could just run a D&D game? Sure my players might want to play DC20 but they ain’t running out to buy me books or reading all the material to learn how to play. Most players frankly read up on there one class and show up expecting the DM to know most of the rules.
I know exactly what you’re saying. If your players are happy to play in whatever setting you choose, that’s fine! If you (as the DM) as solely responsible for purchasing all the books and rules for your players to choose from, you SHOULD ask them to pitch in. The classes look very fun but some of the things they can COULD be homebrewed into either PF2e or D&D. So if a player says they want to try a class from DC20, and you’re happy to help them convert it in different ways rather than submitting to a whole new system, I think that’s fine too! Play how you want, make your own fun!
My understanding is that it could be boiled down to a looser PF2e. A lot of the rules are less hard-coded and rigid than PF2e, although more focused than 5e and still much more structured and rigid than narrative-mechanic systems like PbtA.
This is the first DC20 video i see that doesn't feel like (or is) an ad. Thanks for that!
Yeah definitely not an ad but I do like the concepts for the classes a whole lot! 🤣 well mostly.

HP instead of MP is still there. It's the Life Tap feature warlocks get at level 2.

DC20! Love the classes
Me too actually. New takes on old classics.
Might have been mentioned already, but Warlock lost the ability to spend HP for MP in 0.7

I really like the Bard for once. Haven't GM'd enough of these in their current iteration, but they seem really fun across the board
Yeah the bard idea of constantly playing music IN COMBAT and psyching everyone up! Seems awesome.
