i remember playing Golden Sun back in my school time, its really an incredible JRPG, the graphics/effects were unbelievable for its time on the game boy advance. i still hope for Golden Sun on Switch togehter with a Remaster of Last Story
@@pythonxz I can't even be mad at Sora. KH's popularity far exceeds the likes of Golden Sun. But part of the charm of smash bros is including underrated characters not many know about, and making them more popular; like a Marth, C. Falcon, Roy, Ness, etc...the good old days...
I was 100% hoping that for the 20th anniversary that Nintendo was gonna remake the first two Golden sun games, and possibly port dark dawn over to the switch. I would love them to combine the first two games into one, and even allow players to continue the second game with Isaac and crew, then also have it to where you could start the game from felix’s perspective. Would give something to new players and older players too
Replaying this gem in the Switch now! Ironic this is a 20 years later vid because that's roughly how long it's been for me 😂 the soundtrack alone makes this game amazing
Golden Sun fans, the dream of a remaster still lives on, but in the meantime, I stumbled upon Sea of Stars, and it's a hidden treasure! If you're patiently awaiting a Golden Sun revival, Sea of Stars will quench your thirst for an epic RPG adventure with its masterful storytelling and captivating gameplay. Dive in and prepare for a journey you won't forget! 🌟🌌
My sisters boyfriend stole my gameboy to buy drugs when I was little so I never was able to beat the first game.I used to have a crush on Saturos and Menardi ngl(don't ask me why I was attracted to pixels) now as a adult I finally beaten the first game!I'm trying to play as slowly as possible and do a complentionist route to savor the game bc I doubt camelot is ever gonna continue it:(
I did pick it back up recently after probably 10 years and I walked up to a sapling so I was like, “Oh yeah douse should work!” Nope! Found out I had to mix Venus and mars djinns to get a specific class to get the growth psynergy. lol my save was at Venus lighthouse and then before I knew it I was in the biggest boss battles of the game against Saturos and Menardi, and then against fusion dragon. Very fun game!
Dude, it’s pronounce like genie. The d is silent. That’s the proper spelling of “genie” it’s “djini”. Sorry but I really thought you should know. It’s also not Psy energy. It’s Psynergy. Like Synergy with their allotted element.
This was the game that made me love RPGs. My mom who knows absolutely nothing about video games bought it as a gift while she was on a business trip and changed my live without knowing it.
Too late to change it now, Matty, but the D in Djinn is silent. Otherwise, great video. Love the game, love the channel. You continue to crush it every single day.
I remember I got this game by accident trying to get A Link To The Past on GBA all those years ago. I was probably 6 years old and this ended up being one of those games you never forget.
I played this game so much back in middle school. I completely agree that with the advent of other GBA games coming back and getting remasters on Switch, the time is just right for a Golden Sun rerelease of some sort.
Nice video. I love Golden Sun, but I haven't played the GBA games for a long time. I really want Nintendo to bring them to the switch somehow, or remake them.
Damn. I loved Golden Sun growing up. Would at least love a switch port. I played this game at such a young age, the way I play the game would probably be entirely different. Thanks for making a video about it, got a little hit of nostalgia!
This series is my favorite thing. Not game, but THING. I adore Golden Sun so much... I cry a lot thinking back on the wonder this game made me experience.
Dude the whole water thing.. I’m completely sure you get exposition to how the water from that lighthouse healed everything. Once you defeat the tree and the female tree is sick it becomes absolutely clear what you need to do
At the very least since Mario Golf and Tennis are already out on the Switch and those are the big Mario Sports games Camelot makes I think its likely they're cooking up a new Golden Sun. Interesting to note is they brought RPG elements back to the newest Tennis and Golf instalments
Regarding healing Tret with water from mercury lighthouse, there actually was subtle hints in the game that were given but you had to go out of your way to talk to a lot of NPCs. I believe someone in Imil mentions the lighthouse water has very strong healing powers, and someone in Bilibin mentions that a strong healing power might be able to save the forest. Also mind reading Laurel she straight uo says that the lighthouse water will save Tret.
These are the things that blew my mind as a young kid playing this game. There was so much information hidden in the game and it felt like a puzzle. You knew that there was a way to progeess but you had to figure out who you had to speak to. I spent so much time mind reading all of the various NPCs, looking for new djinn & the various strong weapons and armor, and exploring. The world was so immersive for early 2000s.
I thought Golden Sun was the Kojima game with the light sensor on the cartridge. After watching this, I realise that game was called Boktai: The Sun is in Your Hand
Golden Sun is a great "babies first RPG". I really loved the animations, character designs, and the music is great. The story, puzzles, and battle system is pretty shallow, but still enjoyable. Wish the franchise kept going.
I think purely in terms of difficulty you're spot on, but I was reading comments from how other people play the game and there's a lot of depth to be had with all the different playstyles. You could keep most djinn on standby so you can immediately summon rush, you could mix and match a lot with the class system, you can use psynergies a ton for damage or keep their use limited to healing, you could build for crit chance so that weapon unleashes happen way more often, you can use all the different djinn to do all sorts of things like create barriers, affect stats, avoid damage, do damage, etc. And obviously you're not strictly limited to any of these and can mix and match these styles as you see fit. It's a suprisingly deep game for its light difficulty curve.
I actually loved the battle system. If you intend to keep battles as hard as possible by escaping ALL random encounters and only battling the boss fights, the battles are actually decently hard and require developing some nice tactics. I can really recommend it for replays :)
So... not talking about its sequel which is quintessential to talk about GS1 cuz of being literally the other half of the game cuz they had to split up GS1 and GS2 which was originally one game? Cuz GS1 is quite.. OK in compare to GS2 or GS3. You should really get around to play the sequels, both of them. While GS3 has its issues it doesn't shy away from a solid narrative, even atmospheric creeping moments and Motoi Sakuraba blasting the OST imo more then he did with GS1&2 (mostly due ot hardware limitations, not discrediting his work but GS3 does a bit more for me with that). Oh and GS3 also had a worldmap so.. something to look forward to!
Really loved Camelot back in the days. As a Sega fan and as a fan of the Shining Force series (on the Saturn) I remember being so excited for this game on the GBA. Still a great game today.
They already told you about the djinn, but the magic is call psynergy, “Sin-er-gy. Otherwise love the video, I miss reading the manuals on the car ride back from Walmart
Back then, I'd always play Golden Sun 1 & 2 over and over again right after just finishing it. Those lush combat animations, the puzzles, the overarching story, the characters. . . I think the charm of Golden Sun is that it innovated on what supposed to be its limits on older hardware.
Recently did a complete re-playthrough of both GS & GS:TLA, still remembered everything sadly, wasn't as fresh as I wanted it to be but great all the same. Brain can't remember what I ate 5 days ago but I could remember every dungeon layout and item chest after YEARS of not touching it.
Loved this game so much! Still my favorite GBA game and would probably put it in my Top 20 overall games. I must’ve been around 11-13 when I got it. Hope it at least gets a Port to the Switch, if not a Remake, Remaster or Reboot of some kind. I think Isaac or Felix should’ve made it to Smash. I think either Brawl or Smash4 had Isaac in it (not as a playable character), but can’t remember the context. Maybe an item? Or just a sticker?
I was 14 when Golden Sun came out and it was my first non-Pokémon RPG. I remember buying it, taking it home, and playing it all afternoon in my dad’s living room on a cold January Saturday while he watched TV. I can still remember being in awe of the colors and music like it was yesterday.
One of the greatest RPG's of all time. A true classic

The story and dialogue reads like it was written by a five year old with brain damage

Second game is really a part 2 of the first game

I'm glad I got a loose copy a few years ago. $15 wasn't bad. Nowadays it's $24 loose or more. Looks great on the new IPS screen.
I wish they'd remake the games for Switch or put a new one out. Golden Sun remains one of the best RPG series ever.
Fond memories of Ivan Dying at every Boss fight lol

Here in 2024 to share that Nintendo are adding Golden Sun (and it's sequel) to Nintendo Switch Online's retro library!
Being released January 17th. You beat me to sharing the message, but I did want to add that bit
i think with the remake of Advance Wars, that Nintendo will do a remake of Golden Sun for the Switch !
Still play this today on emulators.
You should collab with SuperDerek
Think we'll ever see a remake for the switch?
Is it playable on any device?or console
Late reply, but I believe it’s on the Wii U store.

fucking goat game from 2001
also that's a gameboy sp, not an advance

Just saying it is pronounced "sigh-ner-gy" not "sigh-energy"
Also the "d" on djinn is silent. The plural is djinni which is pronounced "genie"
