What does Japan's first Ramen taste like?

- Mac checks out Rairaiken, Japan's first ramen shop. reopened 110 years after it was originally founded.
Japan’s first ramen shop, Rairaiken (来々軒), opened in Asakusa in 1910. It survived (with a couple of changes of location) until 1976 when a lack of ownership succession led to it closing down. It’s unique, historic recipes were lost to the ages. Thanks to some groundbreaking research from the Shin-Yokohama Ramen Museum, Rairaiken has been reborn. It opened to the public on 14 October, but I was honoured to be invited to the press day on Friday 9 October.
What's the history of Rairaiken? How was it recreated? Is it a novelty or is it actually good? Watch the video to find out.

I love the concept of a ramen museum, because it makes history feel tangible.
I mean, it's not like just seeing some statues or coins which you can't relate to, but rather food, which you can actually touch, smell, and eat.
Also, it's a great way of preserving the culture and history of the common people, not just the nobility.
Spot on! It's all heritage and should be celebrated. We continue...
Added to my list of places I need to try.
The list never ends!
