I've struggle with the whole thing about the odds and evens game for a long time. Now, thanks to the work you did here, I finally get it. This stuff is really, really great. It's kind of like a proof of the finitude of every Symbolic order. This does a wonderful job of showing the autonomous logic of the Symbolic (Other's discourse, relationality of signifiers, the unconscious) that evades all Imaginary capture, intention and determination. Seriously, thanks for making Lacan's thoughts on this game clear to me. I now see the Symbolic with new eyes. Huge help!
I'm very glad. This was a big struggle for me as well. It really helped me once I did my own example. Bruce Fink's analysis of it that I mentioned in the video (The Lacanian Subject) is the best I've found.
Great explication of this difficult, but ingenious articulation by Lacan. Whether he is right or wrong, the links he makes here across literature, logic, and psychoanalysis, is impressive in it's creativity and originality. This alone makes it worth understanding.
Thank you for the comment. You've hit on what has attracted me to Lacan. It is quite astounding to see how many different areas of knowledge he weaves together in his thinking.

@Rodrigo Farías -- Well, I knew him personally. We used to hang out at the pub and get drunk on our asses. I think I know him well enough to call him anything I want to. So there.

heads and tails will be, in an infinite number of tries, closer to 50 50 then any other odds
牛逼啊
Edgar Allen Poe would cringe if he knew how his poems and stories would someday be, analyzed, explained, and picked apart.
Though Lacan is neither attempting an explanation nor analysis of his story. Merely a creative appropriation of elements for ulterior purposes.

@@Dr.Pepper001 you knew Edgar Allen Poe?
@@elia8544 -- Yes. I played a round of golf with him just yesterday. 😉
