I was there, When he Overjumped that triple on the first lap I thought bad things were about to go down. Both his wrists and his spokes must be the strongest in the sport. He came down at least 25 feet of verticalto dead flat. I've met Josh in the pro shop at milestone many times over the past 4 years, but didn't know he was an up and coming pro. When I finally saw him riding the number 24, and how fast he was. It then clicked that he was that kid "Jammin24" that follow on Instagram. He's so humble, over 3 years about, neither him or his mom mentioned to me that he was a up and coming superstar. I was so stoked to see him racing at Pala! Couldn't believe it when I realized it was him racing RV, I didn't know he was doing the 125 All Star races.
Kenneth Illman for sure ! I know it did me . Less braking , less clutch and clearing the technical rhythm sections , big jumps takes a lot less thought now .
Not here for a 2 stroke vs 4 stroke debate, but I have to agree with other posters that this old school moto was some of the best racing I’ve seen in a long time! These cats were wringing every ounce of hp and performance out of these beautiful 2 smokers and the awesome onboard footage captured the all-out dogfight that this short race was! Josh Varize and RV2 conducted a clinic and I was on the edge of my seat during the 9 minutes and 49 seconds. Thank you Racer X for posting what made my day! Oh and, Brraapp!! 🤙

These subscriptions are "nice" to have, but totally unnecessary when you can just wait to see the same stuff here for ZERO price. I cut my cable to zero, cut my Amazon Prime to Zero, cut my Netflix to zero, even cut my cellphone bill TO ZERO. Dude, I was watching in Person, RV did not want to give that one away at all. He fought tooth and nail after #24 hunted him down and passed him. I'm sure RV isn't quite as fast as he used to be, but damn, he was giving it 110%. He has too much pride to let a kid beat him.

When's the last time you saw someone chase down and pass RV?. I've never heard of this guy, but he rips. I can't imagine how much work was done to the motor on RV's Yamaha to allow it to compete with the KTMs and Huskies.
Not bad for 15-year old technology vs the "latest-greatest" all-new technology. And, yes, I have ridden both - the new YZ125 and the new KTM 125SX. Not even in the same stratosphere. And I'm a YZ rider too. So, I'm not hatin'. It's fact. The KTM is a far better overall performing bike in this class. Tell Yamaha Motor Corp to wake its lazy ass up and update their 2-stroke bikes!
It's crazy how much the extra body weight was a disadvantage to RV on a couple of those sections. He'd probably have no chance of contending with this featherweight at a place like Glen Helen.

Holy ....shit! RV2 is so competitive. He was getting a little more aggressive than you would think for just an all-star race but that competitiveness is what made him such a great champion. Better line choices by Varize... didnt let the mutli-time champ rattle him....outstanding ride!!! Butter smooth!
Stew cant hang with these guys not on a 125 anyway he has full dad bod now power to weight makes all the difference, I bet RV is just a few LBS heavier than Josh and that why Josh just out pulled RV on that up hill. But this was a great race wish it was a series with championship at the end

I've been watching some old 2003 supercross 125 races lately, and Travis Preston who was the second best guy behind Bubba, weighted 186lbs. While he admitted being too heavy for the bike, he surely did pretty good on it. ^^

Considering the YZ125 has almost FIFTEEN-YEAR OLD ancient "technology" compared to the fancy always all-new million-dollar Katoom, you can thank both Yamaha (for being far ahead of it's time with this technology) AND the skills of Villopoto for keeping this great race close. (I have test-ridden both the new YZ125 and new KTM 125SX and they are nowhere near the same in overall performance. I love the way the YZ rides (because it's what I ride), but the KTM is miles above it in overall performance, and in the 125 class - you kinda need horsepower and "overall performance." If these guys switched bikes, the race wouldn't even be close. And Yamaha Motor Corp needs to get off it's lazy ass and update the YZ85, YZ125, YZ250 to CURRENT TECHNOLOGY. No debate. (I ride Yamaha.) Would have been the same in last year's Red Bull Straight Rhythm when RV raced Dungey. Had they switched bikes, the race wouldn't have even been close. Come ON, YAMAHA MOTOR CORP, get with the 2019's!!!! CONTINUE TO GET LEFT BEHIND (in technology) BY KTM AND HUSKY IN THE 2-STROKE CLASSES. Jammin been holding it down at milestone and perris for years. Paul and Brandy have him on an awesome training program. Proud of them.

Good racing the KTM is straight up faster than YZ.
YZ got the holeshot with a heavier rider, but the KTM is faster? Actually there were TWO Yamahas that beat him to the first turn.

@@joeshmoe12301230 Dude it's mostly the rider that makes the difference, not the bike. At MXoN there are 250s getting better starts than 450s, and I don't think anyone would tell they got more power in the 250. :)

Yeah I agree, its BS. I paid the $54 for NBC sports gold last week and I have to come to youtube to watch this amazing 125 race. What a crock. They should be covering this one way or another. Lol, if this race is on when the camera men have to take a break, leave the damn cameras rolling on everywhere...

@@HorsepowerHouse I watched it for free last year and I like seeing it live. I even watched it live at 123tv free tv channels(with some bufering). I watched it next day at offroad videos dot org and youtube. You gotta catch it early the next day before copyright police show up and cock block it. Anyway, my point is, Im tired of waiting, buffering, copyright strikes, etc. I really love MX and $54 for a whole season is very reasonable IMO for stress free watching live. I dont have cable TV, only internet, so its not that bad money wise. I just wished they broadcast the 125 race, thats all man.
