  • What to practice on snare! Every drumline needs a great warmup packet but lots don't cover the core components needed to master marching snare. This one stood out to me as a well thought out routine that covers all the basics in just 5 short and simple exercises.
I teach you each one in this tutorial.

This line plays really well! Better than a lot of world class groups honestly. I'll always be more impressed by a line that attacks basic fundamentals and learns to play every note together v.s. hammering a bunch of dirty beats with no consistency

Approach is a lot better than some World groups but World groups have sound quality over every Open group with maybe Meraki being the exception. They are making smart decisions since Open is closer to A class than most people think.

Honestly I do love warm up books like this. I understand some difficult pieces in the lot but for a while it seemed like lines wanted to be more impressive on the lot instead of the field or court. This is truly a pure warm up and I dig it.

Yea drum corps and wgi is imo in danger of slowly playing things so complicated that 1. Only elite drumers can follow and 2. Sound like random noise to anyone not from drumcorps. I think the basics are more important than many realise

@@FreestyleRudiments Me too. I played for Tom Float (The man himself) in 1980 Spirit of Atlanta and the
exercises that were popular then were very specific and simple, although I do think our chops in their
purest sense were better than today's kids. And of course we were playing on mylar heads and that's
a whole different ball game. I do admire the complexity that's going on today but I still like a good
fundamental series because at the end of the day it's all about the basics.

Hello guys, i recently started playing snare drum and most of the time i'm practicing on my pad but a lot of drum tutorilas(drum lines/drum solo) are really hard for me. Can you suggest some beginner or even intermediate pieces since i have a lot of free time and can play doubles, triples, paradiddles, flams.
I have a wish to learn ditty someday but it's obviously too hard for me :)
Sorry for my eng and thanks for your attention

go back through all my old videos and get the simple basics down, especially all the standard warm ups. "warm up" are really daily exercises. Get a copy of my RED book as it will teach you all the rudiments you need and start watching bands of america drumlines and high schools to see what they are doing, they are the "yellow brick road" to the elite stuff like ditty.

    • @michaelcharette2234

Geof , I have a little problem with Ditty. I've played it hundreds of times. At tempo below tempo and everything in between . It's like everything else, it just doesn't want to stick in my memory. With the sheets not a problem. Although I can still remember what I played 60 years ago.
