We really enjoy the videos. One thing, 3% of all emmissions from container ships that deliver about 45% of global GDP, would not be considered "staggering". Rather, Trucks, globally, which represent 17% is quite a bit more, but passenger cars are, by far, the greatest contributor in vehicles.
These kind of videos really can get me emotional, like how awsome it is to see the true potential of humanity if there is more union in solving problems

I’m definitely not sold on the “Livestock Carbon Tax”. Many Farmers are having a hard enough time making ends meet these days. Subsidies may help but I’m sure they won’t totally cover the tax. There has to be better ways than this. Have the government pay to get the farmers the cow feed instead.
absolutely agree. Hate the fact that a show like Clarkson's Farm has brought this info up towards the mainstream way more, not to mention all the European, especially Dutch, farmers' protests this and last year about this sorta stuff.
Same. Seems like a lazy way for the government to reduce emissions by targeting those who can't as easily fight back. The amount of emissions as not as large as it claims and farms give back with much more than just food.
@@AlmightyRawks I totally agree. I just don’t think that this is the right solution (or at least the best possible solution). Also, I know that the sentiment behind these carbon taxes may be good natured, however when they negatively impact low income/middle class people who are already having a hard enough time getting by they end up hurting there cause more than helping it. They leave people disillusioned with the entire process.
I'm no expert, but I think the livestock tax isn't the best way to prompt change. (And I'm a vegetarian, so seeing all these beautiful creatures and imagining what's waiting for them at slaughterhouses is heartbreaking.) Maybe there could be a more complex program with minimal tax and strong incentive to change methods and/or transition to plant-based protein production. Thank you for your channel.
I always look forward to these videos, and love hearing good news. especially lately. but to be fair, the "first cargo delivered by wind power" happened a few hundred years ago.
A carbon tax in Denmark isnt good news. It just means the farmers will suffer in the country and more of the meat will be imported, which is even worse than just producing it locally. I work in the meat industry, we already import way too much meat.
you brought it to the point! Greetings from Germany, we also charge taxes on those methane sh*t and the meat we buy is expensive, the farmers are bleeding out and the state does nothing about it because they want to push some CO2 goals. Glad someone recognises that
You'r right! First they sould implement this to the gigantic global companies, which are killing the "little" farmers for more influence and to have more export/profit for themselves. If it works on the big industrialized farm fields, then maybe they should use the good exemple on the little farmers. ("big meat farming industrialization" is almost everywhere, but the real big ones are on other continents, not on the "big" Denmark)
global bias against meat isn't helping. especially because the co2 bias against cattle is actually wrong... the amount of co2 sequestration that regenerative cattle grazing buries back into the soil is massive
I think a "good news ecology" monthy extra episode would be great, like about rewilding projects and new businesses that either grow food in sustainable ways (like salt water agriculture in spain) or that focus on serving/using invasive species
News can always be framed as negative or positive, but it serves our traditional media to prey on fear. I think the world is a lot less scary than media typically makes it out to be.
I watch these videos and I find they help me massively with my depression. It really helps restore my faith in humanity, and even inspires me to learn science to help humanity. Please never stop making your videos, they are very important.
I think taxing the farmers directly is a bad move. I would move the tax toward the companies that create the high methane food and offer positive incentives for farmers to go as green as possible. Also provide subsidies to get livestock alternatives like plant-based and lab-grown alternatives on the market at competitive rates with help the market naturally start shifting away from our enormous dependence on livestock. Putting funding and incentives toward green energy has done more for the energy sector than imposing on fossil fuels, and I think the same is likely true for the cattle/meat industries.
Helping livestock farmers switch to regenerative grazing would solve more problems than a tax, actually improving the carbon sequestration capacity of degraded grasslands, and eliminate the hostility farmers have towards climate change initiatives. The planets grasslands used to house herds of millions of grazers sustainably locking away as much if not more methane than was produced by grazing animals, but industrial agriculture has allowed livestock to become a "scapegoat" that far more environmentally damaging industries can shift blame and attention to
I think the law should have this (supports and help for transition) tied directly to it. The tax remains in order to say "hey, you cannot simply ignore this" but the tax must be used (at least while the transition is ongoing) to help farmers switch to less carbon intensive processes, and fund resiliency and efficiency upgrades
Agree 100%…livestock are recycling carbon, fossil fuel industries are releasing what has been safely locked underground for millions of years. And we all require food…
Been a minute since I caught a Good News video, I gotta say I like the 10 or so minute lengths! Also that Teen making the skin cancer soap was an amazing section.
This is definitely one huge problem, but beef definitely needs to be more expensive. It's by far the worst food if looking at the eco impact and people are eating waaay too much of it. I'd personally raise the CO2 tax on beef and lower it on rest of the food industry.

I saw a study that showed if you feed cows a certain kind of kelp or seaweed (I don't remember which) it greatly reduces the methane that comes from livestock.
I'm not sure what you could improve. I think these are fantastic, and we thoroughly enjoy watching them and learning about good and amazing things that are happening!
Taxing more our farmers is absurd. We need food to live. They should be given support and training to become carbón neutral not robbed by government. Look what happen in germany france this year. Farms on protest over fuel and subsidiary being cut
feels like Denmark is going in the wrong direction, what does it really do other then making it harder for the ones that makes our food? pretty sure they could have done more other places. they could also have skipped the first step and just give farmers tax break for environmental upgrades
was doing research yesterday on USA meat consumption. basically, even just a 5% decrease in meat consumption would save BILLIONS of gallons of water, 30 Million TONS of CO2, 3 billion kWh of energy, and 7-8 million acres (about 11,000 to 12,500 square miles). As an aside, if filled that land with solar panels, it'd be enough to literally completely power the USA (by some estimates, twice over!). Anyways, we don't need to ban meat. But if we can get people to reduce consumption by even just 5%, we'd see massive environmental wins. I also love the idea of a carbon tax, since i think it's fair to ask people to pay for to clean their pollution - and the money can be used for that goal. My only issue is that I'd extend the tax to everything, not just meat. (Also, assuming the average family spends, say, $250/yr on the tax, I'd include an automatic tax credit of $125 to everyone. This way people aren't taxed too heavily, esp poor people, but it can still help nudge people to better behaviors.)(P.s. wild fact: 12% of americans account for 50% of US beef consumption.)
Great news! I loved all the topics, lots of green progress 🍀🍀 I loved the last one about the wind powered cargo-ship I think regarding the Livestock carbon tax if done properly can be very effective in reducing emissions. There are a lot of ways this legislation can be implemented in the wrong ways, I am thinking for example imported meat competing with local due to higher prices etc. But if imported meat is also taxed and farmers have a say in how they make this important transition together, it can turn out pretty well I think. Don't be afraid of having some "controversial" news highlights it can help discussion around much needed issues that needs talking about from multiple angles. 😁
In relation to news article 6, I'd be weary of creating a "super-coral". Such a species may outcompete various other coral species that are having more difficulty adapting to warmer and more acidic conditions, even if they might still make it otherwise. Hope the researchers are taking that risk into account
I really enjoy your channel. It is very nice to hear the good news you find. One thing I wanted to note - I don't find #3 as a good thing as it could be. Have you ever visited the carboncowboys channel? They have tested and explained how cow emissions aren't bad and are reversing the carbon emissions if used in the appropriate way by rotated crop grazing. They prove that it helps the land go to a normal healthy thriving state because of the cattle grazing which if done in an appropriate way reduces emissions caused by cattle flatulence. But the cattle contribute to this land by their natural fertilizing and naturally working the manure into the soil. The land rests because of the rotated grazing and the cattle eat a much healthier diet which causes less carbon emissions. It's a win win. Taxing farmers I don't feel is the right move. Would love to see you note something on this type of grazing causing less carbon emissions. More and more farmers are implementing this method which they have found costs less to care for the cattle and takes less time to do the actual farming. They are now making money from farming. No pesticides used and severely significant reduction in vet bills. Please keep posting your good news. Thank you.
The cargo sailboat seems promising; even if the amount of cargo is very low per ship it sounds like they're totally automated, meaning many ships can be run at once. And because there's so many ships the crews from the old ships could be transitioned into mechanics for the many more ships that will undoubtedly break down.
How about all the lithium that goes into the battery for the wind turbine and then the emission tax on farmers Farmers don't make enough to be taxed extra we will be paying more for it at the stores just a way for us to pay more money
why would anyone tax cows for farting, because essentially this is what this is. Then introduce subsidies, so that the state wastes money, and eventually everything gets more expensive, because of the taxes. This will result in even more import of products and make farmers even poorer than they are now. All of that because a cow farts? that is ridiculous! But the rest of the video as always a banger
Are the cows polluting? Yes. Sure they do it inadvertently but here's a ton of herd animals that would not otherwise be polluting if we didn't farm them for meat. If you don't like it, stop eating meat, maybe don't say "I am a mindless consumer who will now import his luxury items" because you're quite literally causing the problem and now trying to obfuscate about it. You should feel bad, I hope you do but I doubt you will
Oh and do you know that these taxes cause inflation? The studies I've read by economists indicate the amount of inflation is less than 1% percent year from these taxes. You're being very disingenuous if you say they will make things more expensive for normal people, just people who eat a ton of meat or profit from killing animals 😂
The global meat farming industrialized companies that are the "influensers" here, on them should be implemented this first, let's see if that would work on a global scale. Anyway, we are going on a different direction as a species for some time. Catle and pork are using up much more space than chiken and insects, so they will be eventually a luxury in the future, or who knows, maybe I'm wrong and the sanity for our species will return...no, not in this century.
@@blobymcblobfaceCows release methane to the atmosphere as a result of their digestive process, which is part of their nature. Nevertheless, it should be noted that this methane degrades over time and can be absorbed back by the environment, thus taking part in the carbon and nutrient cycles. The methane that cows produce isn't long-lived in the atmosphere, which is one of the reasons it doesn't persist there as long as carbon dioxide. Over time, it goes back to the soil, which is one of the reasons it helps plant growth. In well-managed systems, cows can actually play a role in soil fertility and the growth of grass, which absorbs carbon from the atmosphere through photosynthesis, thus ensuring a healthy environment.
You clearly dont see the whole picture here. A livestock carbon tax is crucial to fighting climate change. Ignoring emissions now will skyrocket food costs later due to climate disasters. Short-term price concerns pale in comparison to the long-term devastation of doing nothing. Smart policies drive innovation, not inflation.
@@Mr.Eu1 Poorer people care about climate change less. Instead of taxing we should promote better alternatives with lower emmisions, that would be smart. No innovation will come of this policy, it's just a tax pushed by politicians who want to look like they are doing something for the environment.
Taxing Farmers on farting cattle? That's such a horrible idea, maybe spend that time making less gassy feed affordable? Or tackling a different, more polluting problem as a whole? Not only are you taxing farmers who are having a hard enough time getting by, but you are most likely also directly causing beef prices to rise and the general populace is already having enough problems stretching their cash thin.
"Carbon taxes make things more expensive", YES - AND * They pay to clean the pollution people are not currently paying for. It’s a simple change but it makes each video appear more Unique and focused, rather than just being episode #157 of good news. It has the potential to draw in more viewers and have more success with the algorithm. Let me know if this helps!
there is no successful environmental movement without justice to the worker. a carbon tax without a way to empower farmers is moot. we've learned this already in conservation: the best way to preserve animals is involvement and empowerment of the local community. this should absolutely be applied to animal farming as well.
Interesting news regarding carbon tax for livestock. I think it is good that the animal agriculture is being taxed - since it recieves billions of Euro from subsidies from the EU to remain profitable. So I think it is a good way to incentivize towards a more plant-based future.

I am against all intensive farms but grass fed cattle are recycling carbon and other molecules from the food they eat. Fossil fuels, by contrast, are releasing molecules into the atmosphere that have been locked away underground for millions of years.
I say everyday that I so much HOPE and FAITH in young people. They are gonna save us all. Thank you for giving more evidence that I know what I am talking about!!!
This Channel saved me from the Darkness that grips me when I don't focus on the positive. 😊
Commenting so you have more reach and bring more good news to people!
Me too!! ❤❤
No feedback…just want to say that this channel truly gives me hope.
As all the news agencies around the world seem to delight in giving bad news only, thanks so much for providing us with some feel good information.👍
Thanks for spreading positive news in a time where bad news is spread all around. My feed desperately needs more content like your guys ❤
Doing my happy dance! Thank you for all of the hope you provide!🎉
Channels like this are so necessary. It's nice being reminded of the good things that happen in the world.
Sidenote, It's funny how we ended up re-inventing sail ships 😂
We really enjoy the videos. One thing, 3% of all emmissions from container ships that deliver about 45% of global GDP, would not be considered "staggering". Rather, Trucks, globally, which represent 17% is quite a bit more, but passenger cars are, by far, the greatest contributor in vehicles.
These kind of videos really can get me emotional, like how awsome it is to see the true potential of humanity if there is more union in solving problems
I have a friend who begged me to stop bringing her bad news. I found this channel a couple days later!! I desperately needed it!!😊😊 How about you guys??? I look forward to seeing more GOOD NEWS!! I especially like climate, GOOD NEWS!! Thank you for bringing some brightness into my life. Instead of political bad news.....❤❤❤
My partner and I try to keep aware of global news but when I read this think the other day that said watching too much news itself sabotage, I really felt that. I found a good news channel in my country and now this one popped up too. Nice to breathe for a minute..
please never stop, this stuff renews my faith in humanity.
Heal me with good news 😊
I’m definitely not sold on the “Livestock Carbon Tax”. Many Farmers are having a hard enough time making ends meet these days. Subsidies may help but I’m sure they won’t totally cover the tax. There has to be better ways than this. Have the government pay to get the farmers the cow feed instead.
@@adamhodgson8851 imagine subsidizing the farmers just to have them pay it back in taxes
Yup but they also can't maintain the right to pollute or unwillingness to innovate. Cooperation and openness to solutions remains important.
absolutely agree.
Frfr ever heard of pirate ships 😂
The world has gotten so dark, everything isnt dark there is so much good news. Ty for the vids
Glad someone recognises that
You could always not eat meat, it's a luxury item that frankly isn't ethical or good for the planet.
Because it's not tax. It's a penalty
i particularly love the good news about clean energy, and banning fossil fuels :)
I think a "good news ecology" monthy extra episode would be great, like about rewilding projects and new businesses that either grow food in sustainable ways (like salt water agriculture in spain) or that focus on serving/using invasive species
bro is reporting the knife in the heart of denmarks agriculture sector sinking in deeper as if it is a good thing
1:34 this man just invented something that will save millions of people... True legend
He deserves the Nobel Peace Prize.
It's just soap with topical anti cancer drugs in it , it's been a thing for years
Helping livestock farmers switch to regenerative grazing would solve more problems than a tax, actually improving the carbon sequestration capacity of degraded grasslands, and eliminate the hostility farmers have towards climate change initiatives.
Grazing is nice and all, but mostly useless. It's very costly for what it produces and it turns grasslands into depleted pastureland.
GOOD NEWS WOOHOO!

Carbon taxes just makes stuff more expensive. All that does it make the food you buy worse not good news
This is definitely one huge problem, but beef definitely needs to be more expensive. It's by far the worst food if looking at the eco impact and people are eating waaay too much of it. I'd personally raise the CO2 tax on beef and lower it on rest of the food industry.
Fantastic video as usual!! Thank you so much for these. They make my week ❤
Love the good news. Thank you 🙏. I am studying electrical engineering so I hope I can work for a company in a meaningful manner ☺
Bless you for caring for your fellow earthlings. ❤ Keep the greedy financiers away so your invention can do as you intend. Don’t let them buy the patent and lock it away.

Namaste. I love this. Thank you
Great video! The stories were varied and interesting. I also appreciate that the show is weekly - I think that's the perfect frequency. The video length is also about right too. Happy to subscribe!
More good news!
Loved the soap idea.
i hope for a future thats more quiet due to people not having to cut their grass all the time.
Taxing more our farmers is absurd. We need food to live. They should be given support and training to become carbón neutral not robbed by government. Look what happen in germany france this year. Farms on protest over fuel and subsidiary being cut
Wow this was a real good week
This is an amazing channel. I am tired of all the negativity on other channels.
feels like Denmark is going in the wrong direction, what does it really do other then making it harder for the ones that makes our food? pretty sure they could have done more other places. they could also have skipped the first step and just give farmers tax break for environmental upgrades
Interesting. Like the focus on science and ecology.
Good.
I look forward to your videos every week.
Best way to improve any show... Smile more often and inject excitement through the voice.
was doing research yesterday on USA meat consumption. basically, even just a 5% decrease in meat consumption would save BILLIONS of gallons of water, 30 Million TONS of CO2, 3 billion kWh of energy, and 7-8 million acres (about 11,000 to 12,500 square miles).
Comment for the algorithm.
Keep doing the amazing work. Words can't describe just how important a ray of sunshine like you guys can truly be.
I love your work!
the volume could be better-normalized though.. it gets hard to listen when you are loud and they are quiet.
Still amazing stuff!

Great Video Man. These videos make my day way better!
Commenting to help video. But also, Regis has the nicest voice of almost all UA-camrs I watch.
Amazing work. Keep it up!
excellent!
Great news! I loved all the topics, lots of green progress 🍀🍀
I loved the last one about the wind powered cargo-ship
I think regarding the Livestock carbon tax if done properly can be very effective in reducing emissions.
I would love to see hands on interviews with the people involved in your stories! Otherwize the content is top notch.
I like seeing the blooper(??) of Regis working on the name of the super coral
Thank you 🙏🏼
GOOD NEWS SUNDAY!😁😁
Very interesting, lets hope these new sailboats can be scaled up in the future
Have a good day everyone 😊
Good news coming in from all sides! Let's hope it becomes a habit 🙂

I don't think the livestock carbon tax is a good idea. I consider any policy that could rise the cost of food/energy/housing as bad.
This is nice. I'll be back. Now I have to study, though. Thanks
🔥🔥🔥
Taxing Farmers on farting cattle? That's such a horrible idea, maybe spend that time making less gassy feed affordable? Or tackling a different, more polluting problem as a whole?
Not only are you taxing farmers who are having a hard enough time getting by, but you are most likely also directly causing beef prices to rise and the general populace is already having enough problems stretching their cash thin.
uh-oh
seriously wishing soap dude the best.
peotect this man at all costs!
any info on how much energy is needed on building, transporting, assembling, maintaining and dismantling that wind energy turbine?
I'm curious if they could put sails on existing cargo ships. Even netting 5-10 knots would be a huge win.
Nice
"Carbon taxes make things more expensive", YES - AND
* They pay to clean the pollution people are not currently paying for. (I.e. the default should be that you pay to clean your mess. yes, things are cheaper without a carbon tax just like, say, construction is cheaper if you don't have to clean the job site afterward. but that's not how society functions. pay to clean your mess.)
* They discourage polluting behaviors
* They encourage innovation
* They help ensure that our planet is literally habitable
Just before giving some feedback, I just wanted to let you know that I’m big fan of this channel and I think the work you do is really important. Love from Luxembourg ❤.
You could improve the video titles to gain more advantages with the algorithm. Instead of just “Your weekly does of good news” you could put the main story of your video (for example a titanium heart) into the title of the video itself. For instance “New Titanium heart Prototype successfully tested | Good news #41”.
❤❤❤
Interesting news regarding carbon tax for livestock.
I think it is good that the animal agriculture is being taxed - since it recieves billions of Euro from subsidies from the EU to remain profitable. So I think it is a good way to incentivize towards a more plant-based future.
