Undoubtedly and obviously Arax Mansurian does a superb job. I'm a 69 years old guy and around when I was 15, 16 or 17, growing up in Calcutta India where we had; and still do have an Armenian Community. Three Churches, an Armenian Sports Club, and an Armenian Sports Club Field Hockey, Rugby and Football team (soccer). Our Scoutmaster, Mr. Haik Najarian's Scoutmaster was none other than Lord Baden Powell, the guy that founded and started Boy Scouting. Anyway, a great Baritone named Pavel Lisitsian came to our school dinner hall. Our School is called and still stands there, its called Armenian College and its on Free School Street in Calcutta. The Indians have changed the name of that street where I lived 6 blocks away and went to AC boarding school. It was Co-Ed and boys and girls from Persia (Iran) Beirut,Baghdad, Lebanon etc would come to our school to learn English....can you imagine that? Anyway, Lisitsian gave a stellar performance that day in our school...wish I were older to appreciate this great Opera singer, thou relatively unknown in America....he must have been on a World Tour when he sang for us that day...He sang some Opera, and many Armenian Folk songs..and I vaguely remember him singing Kroonk. You can do an Armeniapedia search but I don't remember where I got a hold of his LP and recorded it on audio Cassette and I now only have it on Audio-Cassette still....but no one has sung it so poignantly, so heartfelt and especially Pavels sonorous baritone swelled when he sang "Deh Pataskhan tsch tveer" =you didn't answer me. and you can feel the Goosan's rage at the Crane for not paying attention to the Goosan's pleas and finally the Goosan shoos the Crane away in utter disgust. Lisitsian potrays this will such elegance and panache. Reminds me of Franz Schubert's The Trout and Robert Schumann's Dichterliebe. The passion is just as good if not better than even the German Art song (Lieder) genre. I don't know how to transfer Cassette to CD or on to UA-cam...But Pavels Kroonk interpretation is I believe THE MOST touching and beautiful. Yes and I cried not only for the beauty of Pavel's rich voice but to the exquisite interpretation. CHECK IT OUT. This song and music of Komitas Vardaped goes beyond mortal souls and transcends straight into the heaven's right away. Too bad the Jewish Genocide of the Armenian Christians drove Komitas insane and mad.
