今回はEちゃんからのリクエストでサバイバー（Survivor）の【Eye of the Tiger】を歌わせていただきました。
1982年にリリースされたこの曲は皆様ご存じのシルヴェスター・スタローン主演映画「ロッキー3」主題歌です。
アメリカのビルボードチャート「Billboard Hot 100」で６週連続１位を獲得し、サバイバーにとって最大のヒット曲となり、グラミー賞ベスト・ロック・パフォーマンス（by Duo or Group with Vocal）を受賞しています。
サバイバーの中心人物のジム・ピートリックは、主題歌作成にあたり、歌詞は「rival」と韻を踏む「survival」という言葉を考え、この言葉をこの曲の主題にしようと悩んでいた（Survivalというタイトルも考えた？）ようですが、「Eye Of The Tiger」という言葉が映画のなかで6回も使われていることにも注目し、タイトルにしたらインパクトがあると思いなおして、そのようにした、と言っています。（wikipediaより）
そしてこの曲は、ハルクホーガンさんの入場曲、ボクシングの亀田興毅さんやオリックス・バファローズの小松聖投手が自らの選手登場曲として使用しています。
イントロを聞いただけで「よし！やるぞ～！！！」という気分になりますよね。

This time we sang "Eye of the Tiger" by Survivor at the request of Miss E.
This song was released in 1982 and is the theme song for the movie "Rocky III" starring Sylvester Stallone.
It was #1 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 for six consecutive weeks and became Survivor's biggest hit, winning a Grammy Award for Best Rock Performance (by Duo or Group with Vocal).
In creating the theme song, Survivor core member Jim Peatrick considered the word "survival," which rhymes with "rival," for the lyrics, and was worried about making this word the subject of the song (he even considered the title Survival?). He also noted that the words "Eye Of The Tiger" were used six times in the film, and decided that it would have more impact if used as the title. (from wikipedia)
And this song has been used by boxer Koki Kameda and pitcher Sei Komatsu of the Orix Buffaloes as their own player appearance songs.
Just by hearing the intro, you can't help but think, "Okay, I'm going to do it! Let's do it! I was so excited when I sang it.
