BTW: The Thing 2011 is an excellent movie, if you've seen The Thing 1982 John Carpenter's Classic this movie is a must viewing, it gets the short end of the stick in reviews because it has the same exact name which was obviously a marketing mistake because it's constantly reviewed as a comparison to John Carpenter's classic and this movie is a prequel to that movie, to this day 10 years after it's release, many people who have not seen it or refuse to see it still think this movie was a remake of John Carpenter's Storyline, this movie has a completely different story it's the prequel to the John Carpenter Movie Storyline, this story is the perspective of the Norwegian base scientists and workers that discovered the spacecraft buried in the ice and made the unfortunate mistake of bringing the frozen lifeform to their base

@@javiermigoya Troll Hunter is GREAT. It's funny while also getting scarier and scarier, and more believable, as it goes along. One of the funniest elements is the whole thing about whether or not anyone in the group is Christian. And the last troll scared the crap out of me. My grandmother came from Sweden and she had children's books with the most frightening images of trolls and other creatures in it, and usually terrible things happened to kids who didn't obey adults. So, that movie pushed a few buttons!

1982's The Thing was definitive, and closer to the book, but it wasn't the "original". If you want a fun variation, "The Thing" from 1951 is a must see.

1951s The Thing w James Arness as the Alien is great. The 1982 was okay but I wasn't thrilled by all the gore in it which is strange that I liked the newer version more. Guess it was that tied up the loose strings . It's actually the prequel to the 1982 movie if you run it then watch the 1982 film. Run them together and see.

@DaveNF2G the 1951 was the original but wasn't called The Thing. It had James Arness in it. The title was different but based haha on the book. Funny thing is all 3 versions, none had women in them. Did the 1982 have a woman in it ? It's been so long I honestly can't recall. The 51 version was the hookiest as most were for that time period, but it's still a fun movie. You never really get to see a really good glimpse of the Alien except to see he is tall. Arness was 6 ft inches.

Lake Mungo was pretty good!! I LOVE found footage horror movies!! This one wasn’t so scary but man the actors made it seem so real!! That’s why I think it’s so good! Found footage movies are either really good or really bad and when they’re really good they make you feel like you just watched something that’s actually happened!!

Something I appreciated about The Thing 2011 was the slavish way they set up scene after scene from the original.
As Kurt Russel went through the Norwegian base, every single room and scene he saw has been built and created and explained here in precise detail.
But THEN they changed where the craft was. Where it was situated and how it got there.
WHY?? Why, Flick Connection? Why pre-create everything else perfectly then make this arbitrary change?? Can anyone tell me why?? Because it really bakes my biscuit!
(Also it could have been amazing if they’d left in 100% practical effects instead of chickening out at the last minute and throwing all that footage in the bin)

I did find your comparison between Daniel Isn't Real and Mandy interesting because I ADORE Mandy (as in small obsession) and I loathed Daniel Isn't Real. Schwarzenegger's son is excellent but the rest of the characters and storyline just grated my nerves so bad.
