@@mhoeler Jorge Luis borges is a fantastic argentinian writer, he wrote 'El aleph' one of the best short novels ever written. I thought I saw him on the audience.
I think the 'translation' is: It takes a long time and much practice to learn and stabilize the fundamentals of a dependable operatic voice After that is accomplished, many singers don't believe they can(or maybe need to) master the finer points- ie piano, elegance of style, ,etc.- the mastery level beyond standard good singing- you have to want it and think you may be able to do it- and then find a way First you get the basics- then you attempt refinement -Evidently, he learned it 'on the job'- Glynebourne!- The same was true for him about support/breathing- he was on tour with Joan Sutherland when he worked that out(a different video talk) - at least, that what it sounds like he's trying to get across
He has such passion for what he does. That's what makes him so great.
So true
I think that is Sir Rudolph Bing at 0:17.

Esto es de una clase magistral que tuvo lugar en la Escuela de Música Julliard en la ciudad de Nueva York.
