Looks there's some confusion about the Super Smash Bros theme. The video refers to the origin of the songs. Marx theme originated in Brawl. However, the gameplay I chose to show is from Ultimate because it's much more interesting and relevant than some random gameplay in Brawl's Halberd :P
I solely came to relisten to marx’s theme with how well composed it is. i didnt learn how complex the composition is until now that i finally understand a LOT of music theory. genuinely fascinating how complex kirby music is
@@Georghiou2D Lots of music jargon ahead, but the first section holds a majority of the complexity. Firstly, the entire piece is mixed meter, which means that the piece is constantly changing time signatures. For what this was made for and when it was made, this was CRAZY. Secondly, before the second theme plays (which by the way, is a reworked version of King Dedede's theme, and one of the MANY self referential themes within this game) the section that has marx's main theme is tonally ambiguous, meaning that it doesnt stick to chord progressions, explicit chord relations, or a major or minor key. It is centered around a minor tonality? But the chords do not support the key of F minor that's established with the first main chord, and the melody has absolute No scale that its deriving its melody from, not even more obscure scales like octatonic or the modes of limited transposition. While this is the case, even with the tonal ambiguity, the composer made sure to establish F minor as a general tonal center to not throw listeners off, by Repeating that chord a second time during the theme, and only that chord. It is genuinely surprising to me how free this game's style of composition was for its time. This whole soundtrack could and should be studied in modern music classes in my opinion.
@@syweb2 to be more specific, they changed the time signature in that section to 4/4 and halved the speed to make it sound more like the traditional boss theme from that game.
Personally, I think 5:04 is my favorite section in kirby music. The first five measures sound threatening, but then in the sixth measure it sounds much more triumphant, then the rest is just beatiful, I don't even have to explain it. Not much more to say.

I never realized until hearing 5:04 but part of Marx's theme is a remix of the standard boss theme.

I think because they slightly altered that part of the theme in the electronic version.
