As believers how relatable we are to the disciples. They failed in sin and were often rebuked by Jesus, just like we do as believers. But praise God

I noticed that the disciples, after they could not cast out the unclean spirit,
    did not bring the matter
    to Him.
    The boy's father,
    unlike the disciples,
did not just quit on the matter.

What if you were married and got a divorce but got back together but didn't remarry but said to one another that we are still married under God is this ok with God?

That's the exact situation my father is in now. I really don't know how to answer that question. Maybe consult your pastor about it as I will soon.

@@AndrewHennen I did come across this.
      1 Corinthians 7:10-11
“Now to the married I command, yet not I but the Lord: A wife is not to depart from her husband. But even if she does depart, let her remain unmarried or be reconciled to her husband. And a husband is not to divorce his wife.”

    "The Greatest (Luke 9:37-48)"
(Sorry for the VERY long "comment". But I believe it NEEDS to be espoused)
Kind belated Sir and Brethren...those verses (37-48) in the book Luke...were spoken and written: suchlike that it causes people to misinterpret those verses. Believe it or not IE:
39 and a spirit seized him and he suddenly screams, and it throws him into a convulsion with foaming at the mouth; and only with difficulty does it leave him, mauling him as it leaves.
The words "spirit seizes" were NOT literal.
42 Now while he was still approaching, the demon slammed him to the ground and threw him into a convulsion. But Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, and healed the boy and gave him back to his father.
NO Heavenly Holy Spirit would EVER do that to any human. EVER. And there is NO literal ''Demon"; and there will never be one, either!
But...because in those days (and some even now); were (more or less), "Superstitious"! So deeply; their own shadow was often a demon also, etc!. Oh yes So Jesus used "euphemistic" words; to better understand what He was preaching, etc!
Like all of the 200 million "False Angels" that were called: satan's "demons". And the same, in the case of the child...
48 He said to them, “Whoever receives this child in My name receives Me, and whoever receives Me receives Him who sent Me; for the one who is least among all of you, this is the one who is great.”
Now the word "child" in that verse; is NOT talking about a "literal" child. Rather: it is "grown up humans; who MUST be HUMBLE (like a child is. when they are very young). Thus, Jesus KNEW they would NOT understand that literally, So He used the word "child"; so those ignorant people could understand Him. Amen!
And the worst thing: MOST of the "Christian World" today: believes and preaches; that those words are literal. How sad, but very True. May Jesus have mercy!
End of Story and I rest me cases...
...In any case Brethren, Please Pray OFTEN and Praise Jesus OFTEN; for He is the ONLY true "God Almighty"; there will ever have been. And may Jesus bless you and yours always. AMEN!

was Jesus rebuking a superstition? or was he just playing along and thus misleading them and being dishonest? Or Did he also believe in superstitions, because that is what your comment amounts to if you say that there are no demons, also verse 48 is speaking of an actual child, Jesus is telling his disciples that they should have the attitude of a child, verse 47 says,
And Jesus, perceiving the thought of their heart, took a child, and set him by him, …
and now I also rest me cases thank you very much, 😅
oh and also, Jesus is not three manifestations, Jesus is the second person of the Holy Trinity personally distinct from the father and the Holy Spirit

did Jesus give his disciples the authority to cast out superstitions in Luke 9:1? Or was Jesus perhaps referring to superstitions in Luke 11:24-26?
