    Thanks so much for the video. I got a 2ZR-FE corolla and same coolant got in cylinder and I have a P0304. It has tap ping sound. The quote is very expensive and now I understand why; however, I hope I can take on this by watching your video again and again and may be I don't mess up. Thanks again.

    Nice video, next time make sure you have oil on the threads of the head bolts before torqueing them, it will throw off the torque doing it dry, Also make sure you use assembly lube or at least some oil on those cams and cam journals before you install them.

    Good day sir.
    My 2012 prius makes knocking and rattling noise when ever the engine starts and its charge the Hybrid Battery. On stand still or moving slowly. If I'm speeding the noise stops. I don't have any check engine light on. Scan does not show any issue.
    I have changed the 4 plugs.
    Cleaned the injectors, PCV valve, Intake manifold, throttle body, egr valve all cleaned. After cleaning all these the knocking and rattling sound remains.
    It's comes one at slow speed only when the engine is on and hybrid battery is charging. If I match my pedal hard and speeds, the sound stops.
    I noticed that this does not happen on cold start. It happens when the car is warned up.
    When I removed the inlet manifold to clean it. I looked inside the engine. I noticed that all the inlet and outlet valves are carbon coated expect the cylinder to the extreme right. I noticed that, that cylinder inlet and outlet valves are half inch clean on top.
    My coolant doesn't short and the engine oil does not show any signs of water in it. The car is now 140,000 miles on it.
    My location is Lagos Nigeria 🇳🇬.
    If its blown head gasket, is there a way I can check it?

      Hi mate
      You have to do again remove the injector clean manually (don't do spraying any chemical in engine start) do it manually
      1st step.
      If not working that way don't clean egr valve replace it
      2 step
      3 step
      Replace egr cooler
      sometime egr cooler slowly leaking coolent inside but we can't see it?
      It's common fault in toyota.
      Cleaning injector manually

    You forgot to run a wire arround the back nylon guide to the upper part of the timing chain holding it in place in order when you put the timing chain cover on that the lower chain does not pop of the timing chain gear on the crank bottom. I found out the hard way. Had to remove the timing chain cover and reset the chain

    Wow. Please do not follow this video. He did so many things wrong.
    Didn’t set the crank to TDC. That’s why he’s struggling with the chain and timing LOL. Also he removed all the cams when he could have loosen four bolts and the entire cam cradle lifts together as a whole.
    Cams are bad from rotating them dry.

      I was wondering about the lack of TDC! I’m still learning, but I thought you’re supposed to lube up a lot of those parts, too. Maybe I’m not too far away as I thought!

    Stay away from GEN 3. The Toyota engineers blew it on GEN 3. Stay with GEN 2. No EGR valve, no electric water pump. no catch can necessary, no poorly located PCV valve, no water-cooled CAT, More. GEN 3 is not the 400k Prius. GEN 2 is. Sell before 100k.

    • @DarkstarDarth
      @DarkstarDarth 3 роки тому +1

      My gen 3 runs smooth as silk, change oil every 5k 0-20 and zero issues. Take car of your car and and it will last years.

    • @amazoidal
      @amazoidal 3 роки тому +2

      With GEN 3, taking care of your car means 1. New water pump at 100k. Plastic ring around impeller breaks from heat/cool cycles and jams impeller. 2. Change PCV valve at 100k. 3. Install catch can ASAP. 4. Get ready for EGR valve service or replacement. All can affect head gasket life, which is even worse on 2010-2012 because they are inherently weak. Luck only lasts so long. Oh, change out the non-synthetic WS ATF for true synthetic REDLINE D6. Every 50k.

      @@amazoidal Yes gen3 prius has systematic issues with pcv valve and EGR. My gen3 prius 2012 blew head gasket at 177K miles. I did the head gasket replacemnt myself and found EGR cooler completely clogged with soot. When I took off air intake manifold, cylinder #1 intake was positively dripping with oil with pcv valve as most likely culprit. So with gen 3 prius, it's absolutely mandatory to install oil catch can and do regular cleaning on EGR valve and EGR cooler to prevent head gasket blowout. I also found my piston #1 rod was bent, causing piston in cylinder #1 to sit lower than cylinder #4. Luckily, piston rod #1 is not difficult to replace, as it's accessible after oil pan/oil pump removal. But the other three rods will require engine removal/disassembly.

      @@springer-qb4dv I disassembled and cleaned the entire EGR system thoroughly and also installed a new air intake manifold about 40k miles ago. I now have 280k miles on my 2010 Base model Gen 3. I'm now starting to get rough start issues. The coolant level does not appear to be dropping. Any thoughts on how often the EGR system needs to be stripped and cleaned? Thanks.

      @@steveo3494 check Nutzaboutbolts UA-cam channel. They have great videos in regards to maintaining your 3rd gen Prius. I am a newbie but watching their video gave me enough confidence to take on a few projects. Especially cleaning out the EGR valve and EGR cooler, along with the intake manifold. I also added a oil catch can. I just reached the 100,000 mile mark and hope my Prius stays happy.
