  • This video instructs about hana-basami(花鋏), scissors for ikebana.
There's a special pair of scissors for ikebana. You may wonder for its shape, but it's because it contains lots of functions, cutting, chopping, peeling and so on. In this video, I'm instructing 2 types of scissors and the detail's below.
    warabi-te(わらび手)
2 steel blades that each handle's combined are pinned by a rivet. The middle of the handles are expanded so that we can hold them softly with a whole hand.
    tsuru-te(つる手)
Just like a normal pair, their handles have holes to put into fingers. Easy to use for beginners.
In my channel, I introduce ikebana, Japanese traditional flower arrangement in many ways.
Instruction videos, live ikebana performance and unique ideas to arrange.

Shunpou San, I have been using my warabi-te for a few years now and feel like they need sharpening. How do you proceed when yours need sharpening... I use a whetstone for my kitchen knives but scissors just seem different... do you have any recommendations?
Take care and thank you for your videos!
