I watched this in a Vue in North Finchley in London about 2 days before Christmas The Ginza and Odo Island attacks.. especially the Screeches of Godzillas Ungodly and Mythical Pain he inflicted and suffered echoing in his roars was terrifying. And the fact I say this as I watch in 2d, I wonder how 4DX screenings are..

@@bu11ymaguire hmmm tbh, I'm not sure. I think it may be harder bc of Japanese licensing issues but hopefully it does come on one as this is a must see movie
Since the theatrical opening has been still going strong here in Japan and its re-compiled B/W version “Godzilla -1.0/C” will be on roadshow from January 2024, I guess the digital release might not come sooner than March - May or even later… Well, as a G-1.0 fan, I beg you to reach to your local cinema in this week. You can certainly view the above with ENG subtitles in Tokyo, fyi!
Hollywood magic is long gone, that is why haven't watched any western movies in recent years - they are soulless and awful! Even if you have all the money in the world things like bad writing and bad acting will always pull you down. Worst is most people kinda got used to be fed with junk so hope this new Godzilla movie can show the whole world that things can be better when there is will and effort to do quality.
Lady ballers would be one. The again tho, it's merely a puddle in a sea where more left wing politics is thrown about. Some would argue it's the tide shifting as during the 1940s-1980s a lot of films had more right wing values. However I think the only way to find serenity is to have films from both sides but with subtle messaging and interesting themes. Such as how this film tackled more left Leaning political views such as the anti war/anti bomb stance. Or another example would be the initial seasons of s*x education, which whilst focusing heavily on modern left Leaning politics, such as lgbt and so on. You never felt you were being bashed over the head with that mindset and the characters representing those groups felt so much more than that. It was deconstructing the character tropes of the gay character, the goth girl, the bisexuality guy. Making these character loveable and so much more than their outwards appearances, race and sexuality. Their pains could be relatable as we all know what it's like to fall in love, be rejected, want to date said person and so on. Unfortunately the series kinda went off the rails with the final season and all that deconstruction disappeared but still. It's a good example of how to make a fun and enjoyable series whilst having more modern politics in it. I do agree with you though, Hollywood these days aren't allowed to push films with right wing ideals for the majority of time. There is one more film that came out this year which could be seen as more "right wing" although I can't remember the name of it. It starred the actor from the the thin red line and was about child trafficking. Powerful themes but did twitter have a meltdown when this was promoted haha
@@JofinJonestar Well both lady ballers and sound of freedom were completely independent so not Hollywood or high budget. And it is amazing that being against child trafficking is a right wing position now lol. Yes I agree that subtle messages for humanity rather than a political group are best. Godzilla was good at that. It was anti war, pro family, pro determination and life, and anti government. All of which are right wing ideals now but they also appeal to anyone in their own ways. Same as Miyazaki films. I can’t stand many of his ideologies which are not well thought out at all but do love his movies which are anti war and pro environmentalism - but not the current type of nonsense environmentalism which is fear-mongering for profit with solutions worse than the problem. But as someone who values truth, freedom of speech, anti censorship, anti child grooming, anti forced vaccines and passports, anti authoritarian and anti war, it is dishonest to say “both sides” are doing something - which negates everything happening right now in the world.
@@zonzillamagnus5902 that's fair enough a point. I do agree with you mostly. So many things are now out of wack and to say being anti child trafficking is right wing is absurd but ig that's the world now a days. In honesty I didn't know both the two films I mentioned were both indie flicks so my bad for counting them. I think though if we look at the world in a broader sense of the world atm both political sides are doing something. Both left and right. But I think it's kinda safe to say. Both have been equally useless at changing things. Neither side are given enough time to see their plans put into emotion. Heck half those plans go down the drain as soon as said party is in office. But I think we can now answer that predominately Hollywood is nearly 100% pushing one side than the other!
@@JofinJonestar The uniparty is the issue, which is why Obama, Clinton and Bush are all besties and Pelosi, Graham etc make hundreds of millions from war and corruption. Only one politician in decades tried to do something and he is being politically persecuted at the moment. But spot on review, and I think that without propaganda and tribalism, people in general want similar things which is why Godzilla was so good. You should see Sound of Freedom. No politics and closely based on a real story. It was VERY strange how the media called a right wing movie when it was entirely about freeing kids from slavery.
I came when the first time Godzilla did the atomic breathe, busted all over the cinemas seats man. Such a great film.
Wouldn't be the first time
same thing happened when shin godzilla did his breath

the best thing is that this movie was made with a 20-40 times smaller budget than all those big (and horrible) Hollywood movies

Yeah. Tbh there are a few good movies that have come out this year but there's definetly more mid than good these days
A24 does some amazing films, but the major film studios are lost in the wilderness.
The tragedy and horror of the indiscriminate bombing 80 years ago is being reenacted day and night in the eastern regions of Ukraine today.
