The song “Ovule” outlines Björk’s theory that we each carry three “eggs,” filled with ideals, realities, and darkness. It is also about the way that Björk’s view of human connection has morphed since her girlhood, when she dreamed only of fairy-tale romance.

Not darkness but discord or dissonance. This album validates darkness as being a good thing when it doesn’t consume you. Same thing with lightness. “Pursuing the light too hard is a form of hiding”

Maybe this will help someone out there, who is struggling with coming to terms, and letting go of what keeps them from enjoying the current projects… after listening to Ovule, I feel that she has been preparing us for years, to reach this moment with her, where we can understand the level of this poetic piece, it’s fine that some of us lost connection somewhere along the way, I myself have been in and out of love with her latest work, but I’m slowly coming to terms and embracing it all, this latest piece has really captured me entirely, and brought a sort of enlightenment into me, maybe it’s cause I’ve found other artists to fill in the gap of that groundbreaking pop sound I kept yearning, of what it once was, so I’m not longing for the nostalgia anymore, but to meet this friend of my past again, and hear her stories, her growth, her troubles, her vulnerabilities, this is what this is giving me, and I’m ready to absorb everything, and lean into it with all my heart. Basically all Rs are rolled, but if it is a word that has a double R in it then you just roll your R just about a second or two longer than you would if it was just a single R. It sounds like to me just for The Panache of it she is giving all Rs a Double R sound when singing.

    “Ovule”
    [Lyrics]
I have placed a glass egg, above us floating
An oval ovule in a dark blood red void
Carries our digital selves, embracing and kissing
My skin-mud dense by you, I anchor our darks
    I anchor our darks
Sleep with one eye open, watching our sub-selves
The keel of our ship, these obstacles are just teaching us
So we can merge even deeper into our own personal mineral
    Fuse alloy, ship ahoy
The hostility a broken heart endures
The velocity of that injury is returned to thе world
With the same grin showing teeth
When I was a girl I fеlt love was a building
I marched towards but deadly demonic divorces demolished the ideal
Now with your romantic intelligence, the sensual tenderness
We dissolve old habits and place a glass egg above us floating
In the dark blood red oval void
Our lovemaking avatars in a shell

I've been a fan of hers since homogenic when i was in year 7 and must admit i had become slightly disillusioned by her later work (vulnicura being the exception). I miss that feeling of being introduced to a new song of hers and being totally addicted, wanting to come back for more. That feeling is so seldom these days sadly. However in the past week i started to have craving to listen to this song again and you're right it def does grow on you! I think its probably the best song on the album.

It is fun to notice that Björk is trying in her own way celebrate her respect and passion for hip hop and rbn (which one can tell from her Dj-sets). I would love to have a remix with perhaps Kelly again on this track, or Erykah Badu. ;)

I'm so glad artists still exist in an era that constantly downplay art because people refuse to open themselves to it, refuse to have a dialogue with it. Instead, they want all the answers given to them. They think they want to think for themselves, but little do they know how much their fear and lazyness towards art reveal about themselves: they don't want to think for themselves. When you deny art, you're saying you want others to tell you what to think. Most of the world simply isn't ready for art and artists like Björk.
I love Björk for 26 years. It could have been way more, because I know her since the early 90's, but I admit I wasn't mature enough to understand her and her work. I think I'm starting to get her. What bjork is doing is taking her epiphanies and all the information that she is given from Life's wisdom, takes that and turns it into poetic music. Some people write books, some people write psalms, some people become preachers, but she uses her downloaded spiritual information and turns it into form of art. I have never really listened to the words of her music until recently and I'm just now starting to get it. I don't believe her music she creates is really something to really just jam and sway to necessarily all the time, but there's very very deep messages in them. It takes a wise person to understand her style.

I was lucky enough to see her in The Sugarcubes on February 14, 1990, this was in Phoenix, it was a cold night but hot and steamy inside. People were throwing clothes on the stage and her and other band members would put them on. The energy and heat in the ballroom and her platform sneakers, it was unforgettable. I melt away into her soul with every song! She makes life worth living. 💕🧸🍯🐝
