I just got my cd copy of “When We Were Kings” today! It is absolutely fantastic. Michael Sweet and the boys are crushing it. Thank you Stryper for making my day!
Brilliant. I've enjoyed every song of this album so far. I hope they stick the landing on the rest of the tracks.....but so far, it's sounding like one of my favorite Stryper outings.
So good to hear and know that Stryper is always still in top form musically speaking. I believe it would be difficult for me to choose a favorite album of theirs.
You can almost always tell who does what solo part. Michael is more structured and melodic. Oz is faster, more legato and generally faster and with more vibrato. Usually in the last several albums Michael does first followed by Oz
Hyper for Stryper! It would be interesting at some point to go back and review the last five albums and see if the songs hold up or have gotten better/forgettable with time. Also, is Michael’s annunciation becoming difficult to decipher the words he’s singing? It’s becoming where I need lyrics with every song. Maybe it’s just my ears. Top notch other than that. Excited for the album can’t wait for the release. Good job bringing Quality Christian music to us again. Other Christian bands along the lines of Stryper you might like to review are…Barren Cross, Bride, Guardian, Holy Soldier and X-Sinner. Turn it on and Turn it up!
it's not that difficult but bear in mind that he had an operation for thyroid cancer prior to Christmas last year. in his words during an interview he stated that "his voice had changed as they had to cut some muscles in his throat and he's working on getting back to where he was pre-cancer"
@amysson5151 I think Bride might be the only one of those bands still going. You should check out the band Theocracy as they have another top notch vocalist and they are Christian

Not trying to hate. I just hate that you are the only one that pops up for Stryper reactions. I really love catching a surprise of seeing someone who is not familiar with Stryper react. All you get here is a dude who shakes his head 90 percent of the reaction. Yeah he gets into some stuff but it’s always a really biased reaction and it’s evident. I love Stryper but it seems this dude has been given too much love from the band so he just provides these very biased reactions. He’s going to react the same way to every song. Not hating, it’s just boring and so many more people need to be reacting to Stryper
Really its more of a review even though its a 'reaction' because its' the first listen. You have to know Leigh to get it. But ya seeing a kid react to classic Stryper is a treat.
Stryper blend pop sensibilities with metal; that’s their sound. They’re an intelligent band with brilliant songwriting and craftsmanship. Plenty of other “heavier” (whatever that means) bands out there if you prefer that.

So far I like this one the most. The guitar solos really nails it. It is especially “Stryper-esque.” I am 100% with you on No More Hell to Pay.
Fantastic song. The song and the sound takes me back to 1986 and gives me the feeling of the To Hell With The Devil album. I LOVE IT !

I've noticed that also about his enunciation of the lyrics. I have had to look at the lyrics some also. I was wondering if it was just me as well.
