Hey Tim...i love the sickle mower attatchment and the fact that it;s in the front and not hard mounted to the side or in the back...it doesn't leave any big patches to have to come back to with a hedge trimmer or string trimmer...and we are grateful that Joe has made such a miraculous recovery..he truly had a guardian angel looking after him on that day..i wish the other person no ill or foul harm but karma has it's ways of biting people back..blessed be from Alabama hill country
Joe seems like a great guy. Praise God he didn't get killed or hurt any worse than he did I'm sure he had a tough recovery burns can be some of the worst and most pain full injuries to recover from. I Pray they catch the other driver someday. Tim with all the attachments they have to offer I think the ventrac is perfect for a property layout like Joe has nothing against Johnny but I think the ventrac would be a better for him. I was really impressed with the cycle mower and how well it did. I thought you were doing a great Job for the first time using it and Joe seemed to get the hang of it pretty quick as well. Great video as always and another great Job by TTWT. Have a great week. God Bless!!!
Yes I think Ventrac is fantastic but it's dearer than BMW M3 in Australia. Without the attachments. Love to watch it working very much. I'm saving up for the next ten years LoL.
Tim, just forget about it! You are just having fun with a new toy. My son ended up buying 19 acres with a small house and a nice 20x40 workshop - big enough to get his big W900L Kenworth into it without the RGN trailer. He bought a used Yanmar 2 cylinder diesel tractor and a 42" brush hog. It cuts very well but there is one problem. The shift lever is in the middle of the tractor; i.e. between your legs. My son is 6'5" with big broad shoulders. To get into hi, he has to stand up and sit atop the seat. Funny to watch. He will need to get a tractor of some size since he has 7 acres on one side of the creek and 12 acres on the other side. There is a ford but the Yamar is not adequate to the task. An elderly couple owned the property but when the husband became ill and then ied, the big pasture got no attention. So we need to get someone with a foresty mulcher and clear five acres for the two horses. Some of the saplings are about 1 1/2". I think the only alternative is a wee-wacker with a saw blade on it, pick up the saplings and then use a brush hog, use a disc harrow and over seed. Any thoughts?
You and Joe did a great job of using the boom mower. A Ventrac may very well be in Joe’s future. Joe must have had an angel with him on the day of the fire. Great video!
I wish I had seen your videos on the Ventrac about four months ago before I signed the dotted line for my 1025R. That is a very nice machine. I love that most of it' implements are out front for etter visibility. The only thing my 1025 would be better at is the backhoe. I don't think the Ventrak is very well set up for one. I love that boom mower! For my little ditch I simply run a small 3-1/2hp push mower up and down my short, but steep slope using a rope! My 1025 nor my zero turn can get down into that ditch without slipping all the way into muck. I use a lot of Roundup and mow it down twice a year. That Ventrak would make it fun to mow several times a year, though.
Love your videos...I have hundreds of acres in Texas and big equipment that I take for granted, and consider work. You help me to consider it a priveledge! Thanks for your enthusiasm!

When we used sickle mowers like that for hay (in the old days...), the tip had a bar on the end that stuck up so you could tell where the tip was. Made it easier to tell but it may add another place for grass or cause a clearance problem going under lower stuff. Pretty cool tool though.
I like how this attachement is is on the front of the machine. Our Ford 501 sickle mower is on the back and you can't see what it's doing plus when you come to the end of a ditch it leaves a big section that isn't cut. The ventrac with this attachement is superior.
Bomford turner makes the micro klippa that would fit your tractor. It's pto driven. There's dealers in the states that carry it. You can also trim bushes with that. There's a number of companies that offer 3ph boom style mowers that include the sycle bar, rotary, and flail mowers. Bush hog, tiger, alamo, in the states. Alamo is used on bigger machines. Tim, you got to check out Alamo mowers, they got a remote controlled mower with different attachments.

Mower on a fully articulated arm? That’s pretty cool! I have a Maschio Giraffona off-set flail that’s similar but doesn’t have nearly the capability. I could mow ditches but I don’t have any. RJ404 wouldn’t of been too bad with some loppers & heavy duty weed eater. I’ve cleared stuff like that on my property. I have sloped area along the roadway that runs parallel with my property, probably about 200 feet in length, 10-12’ wide and it’s all sloped at about 40 degree angle. Awesome design tim. Do they make a flail head attachment? Sure seems like these bigger grasses and weeds could do with mulching. But that finger bar design would be real nice for garden hedges and finer finishing.

Do they offer a taller ROPS? I realize that the design of the equipment makes it very stable from rollover, but somebody, somewhere will eventually figure out how to roll it.

is there some sort of float control for that sickle mower where you might say be able to have a guide/hight wheel on the bottom of it controlling the height of the boom above ground level?
There is a float function for any individual function or both arm and head together. To utilize it your tractor must be equipped with a float detent on the auxiliary spool. A boom mounted flail mower would do a real nice job on that ditch but then you need.....yah the list grows the need for a bigger money tree. Cool you'll be at GIE....looking forward to your vids of whats new equipment wise on this scale of work you do.
Hi Tim, have you run a sycle mower on the farm growing up? I really haven't used one enough to say but that seems to work better and not plug like a pto drive cutter bar. Glad Joe is doing so well.
A compact excavator and flail mower would be a better idea for keeping that down. With that combo, the grass, brush, sprouts, etc., would be shredded finer and left as mulch.
Unfortunately I mean a machine larger than Casey. A machine in the 40-60 hp range. With one of those machines, either a flail or rotary mower could be implemented. And dig the drainage ditch out with a ditching bucket. If Tim gets a track loader, there are boom mowers for track/skid steers. Those thick stands of grass would be better dealt with by a flail or rotary mower. Just a few ideas.
Well yah, I could use that setup here. I'd end up using the weed eater for fence lines only. Ever since Ventrac came out with that I've been wanting one for my 1026. To bad that will never happen.

Hmm. Did you watch any of the video? What do you call the mower we were using?

Vinny is quite a performer!
Yep. He likes the limelight!
A boom mounted flail mower would do a real nice job on that ditch but then you need.....yah the list grows the need for a bigger money tree.
Cool you'll be at GIE....looking forward to your vids of whats new equipment wise on this scale of work you do.
Love it.
Amazing machine.
Hi Tim, have you run a sycle mower on the farm growing up? I really haven't used one enough to say but that seems to work better and not plug like a pto drive cutter bar.
Glad Joe is doing so well.
I have mowed a bit with a sickle bar. Not a huge amount. We had the premier sickle bar mower (IH 1300) so ours worked well.
Is that HEMP I see growing on the ditch bank?!
Love Venny
Glad Joe is ok. That Vintrac is pretty impressive so far. Do they have a brush mower on an arm, like a county road tractor? That would be what I need.
