exactly my thoughts. This line-up had all the passion and emotions for this sound. The line-up changes stepped their game up but their sound changed too much. The last single 'Dissolve' got nothing on Dear G-d, too much synth/pop elements :( But I still love BAAO
I worked the stage for joel, nicest guy ever..... at this point and no dig at all I do think they could have done another album of this perfection before they stepped away, truly a classic now I guess. Now lift it high
@@thealexeitubeI’ve listened to the most recent album and it’s fantastic, death can wait captures that old baao sound while still being innovative.. it’s fantastic
they are they are not main stream and the songs they come up with are meaningful. they are normal people like everyone else. :)and that is why I love them.
Tyler said he recorded Dear God with an Orange Rocker 30. Their tone has always amazed me. You can pretty much get there with any good quality light overdrive and reverb.
It's been almost 10 years since I first bought this album on vinyl. After all these years I can firmly say that this will always be my favorite album of all time. I have never had an album carry me through so many highs and lows, and no matter what point in the journey I listen to it this album always makes me feel...alive
"Salute E Vita" Raise your glass high And share with me in my joys and grievings I toast to the mountains and valleys To the future and the days gone by I invite you in with good humor and levity All I have is yours and I pray that you drink deeply My cup has been emptied So I may see what it tastes like to be free Cause for so long this glass has owned me Focused on the chalice rather than what it contained So I gave all of worth to the needy and the rest to the sea Then I looked around at all of the beautiful things that I had gained What can a glass speak of its contents And can it boast at its filling? What else could it do but mutter a quiet thanks So it is that I look forward to my spillings For I am sure that such times are the only thing steadying my hands from their violent shaking So with gladness in my heart and hope in my eyes I drink to my fill of Your celebration wine And as I pour glass after glass I’ll lift it high (I’ll lift You high) And give a hearty toast to life
This band blends various elements together to create something that fans of heavy stuff and indie stuff can enjoy. It's interesting. The more I listen, the more drawn in I am.
Pubmaster Drax hey bro check out La Dispute or even Touche Amore, they're similar with the melodic part of it but the vocals are a bit different. Think you would dig them for sure.
I just now discovered these guys andI dont think I will turn away. Harsh vocals, Clean/Melodic riffs, meaninful lyrics. Keep it up, guys. You earned yourself a new fan.
Probably because you wrote "ur" instead of "your". Look at her sentence; it's capitalized and punctuated. Now look at yours. Typing like an illiterate is turn off by many women.
I had the privilege to see them live, seriously one of the best nights of my life. When i'm in a bad mood or just depressed their music always gives me the strength to continue going forward and not giving up on everything. thanks for making perfect music!!
Despite Im atheist and their lyrics are super religious I really apreciate them on a moral way, great band, but for me their lyrics is what makes them outstanding.
ya know, I am spiritual in my own sense, rather than holding true to any specific religion or doctrine i've kinda developed my own ideas. But I believe the lyrics are very universal, especially to this song. they present an idea that I feel like is applicable to the life we all share and our own individual selves, regardless of what lens you view and interpret your surroundings with
manolation1993 I'm not religious at all, And they're my favorite band. Even with Thier religious lyrics there still very meaningful to me. so I understand what you're saying
I am also not religious at all. But gladly every human being can interpret every song and lyric for itself. Absolutely one of my favorite bands, which brings me to tears very often.
I wasn't a huge fan of these guys the first time I heard them. I gave them another chance though and they're now one of my go-tos. I can't express enough how much I love the emotion they put into the music they make, and how much I love the fact that they stand for something worth standing for. I'm not even a religious person, but their lyrics still get to me. I'm in love with this band.
the music you guys make tell us so much. not just through lyrics but also through drums and guitar. you guys together make amazing music. "Raise your glass high"
Oh my God! We scream together when sensibility of melodies is combines with heart-breaking confession. "Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be." / Lukas 22:42
I love how you can hear the twang from the Telecaster. Tele's are so sexy looking guitars and very versatile, even with a singelcoil pickup. They have a great sound.
I am kinda new to this band. but the lyrics are great. the way they blend the melodic guitar with the raw screams is awesome. personally I am a Christian so this is a band that I can really get into
I have got the same with this band (and I am also a Christian) and i can't get enough of them :) You might also like Wolves at the Gate, its more heavy but their lyrics are really good!
Sleepwalker926 Ofcourse I can also enjoy music that is not related to God or religion, its just that when a band also speaks words that match your view on the world, that its even better and more enjoyable for me. Because for me lyrics are important in a song.
Don't listen to these guys. It takes a special kind of arrogance to tell someone else the reasons they should be listening to music. The fact that the lyrics are bent towards worship is AWESOME.
wooooooowww i hope i see you guys someday ..i knew that you came very close to my town but i was so busy with college ...fuck i regret that haha love your music and total respect from Ensenada B.C!!!
How? As a drummer, I can understand Conor's complexity and beautiful fluency wilth his fills and such, their old drummer is very generic, but I will admit that he gave us the "old being as an ocean sound" while Conor helps the band experience news sounds with his technique so similar to Aaron Gelespie (old under oath drummer).
Miss this BAAO so much. They're still solid now, but Dear G-d was grade A.
exactly my thoughts. This line-up had all the passion and emotions for this sound. The line-up changes stepped their game up but their sound changed too much. The last single 'Dissolve' got nothing on Dear G-d, too much synth/pop elements :( But I still love BAAO
Back then they were formidable
I worked the stage for joel, nicest guy ever.....
at this point and no dig at all I do think they could have done another album of this perfection before they stepped away, truly a classic now I guess.
Now lift it high
@@thealexeitubeI’ve listened to the most recent album and it’s fantastic, death can wait captures that old baao sound while still being innovative.. it’s fantastic
I've never seen a band who's youtube comments are filled purely with love rather than random sprays of hate. These guys must be pretty special.
they are they are not main stream and the songs they come up with are meaningful. they are normal people like everyone else. :)and that is why I love them.
both of you suck
atksenc I'm gonna guess you're not a fan of stuff that has meaning, huh? Just a guess
Jinxed it
Be sure to check Make Them Suffer. They've really strong lyrics as well!
As a guitarist, i find it really interesting how much emotion is created simply by using a cleaner tone.
More of a bright crunchy tone really. Just a combination of the 6505 tone and a Boss Blues Driver.
I noticed that too. instead of a heavy tone, a clean one
Tyler said he recorded Dear God with an Orange Rocker 30. Their tone has always amazed me. You can pretty much get there with any good quality light overdrive and reverb.
Same, Love this sound so much but sadly nowadays they only use distortion in live show
NatFlaps it's amazing how you can express so much emotion through music
I still have such severe goose bumps after years
Hey I'm not the only one here in 2021 😃
It's been almost 10 years since I first bought this album on vinyl. After all these years I can firmly say that this will always be my favorite album of all time. I have never had an album carry me through so many highs and lows, and no matter what point in the journey I listen to it this album always makes me feel...alive
This was definitely the dream team of being as an ocean
"Salute E Vita"
Raise your glass high
And share with me in my joys and grievings
I toast to the mountains and valleys
To the future and the days gone by
I invite you in with good humor and levity
All I have is yours and I pray that you drink deeply
My cup has been emptied
So I may see what it tastes like to be free
Cause for so long this glass has owned me
Focused on the chalice rather than what it contained
So I gave all of worth to the needy and the rest to the sea
Then I looked around at all of the beautiful things that I had gained
What can a glass speak of its contents
And can it boast at its filling?
What else could it do but mutter a quiet thanks
So it is that I look forward to my spillings
For I am sure that such times are the only thing steadying my hands from their violent shaking
So with gladness in my heart and hope in my eyes
I drink to my fill of Your celebration wine
And as I pour glass after glass
I’ll lift it high
(I’ll lift You high)
And give a hearty toast to life
Thank u so much for this
You are the one of the greatest bands ever †
I've never heard of heart in hand....thank you
This band blends various elements together to create something that fans of heavy stuff and indie stuff can enjoy.
It's interesting. The more I listen, the more drawn in I am.
melodic hardcore
That's what I figured, but I haven't heard anything quite like this before.
Pubmaster Drax check out 'Emergency gate" if you get a chance, their a german metal band, very similar styles..
Pubmaster Drax hey bro check out La Dispute or even Touche Amore, they're similar with the melodic part of it but the vocals are a bit different. Think you would dig them for sure.
You said exactly what I was thinking.
Finally cracked the 1,000,000 view mark boys. Congrats what a tune!!
This band is so clean. Love the melodic soothing sound this band produces
Why is this band so perfect ?
+Dylan Aramini because all songs talk´s about GOD ;)
+BlackillerKatanaboy As much as that's an influence to them, I think it's because they straight up KICK ANUS.
+mac cavanah couldn't have said it better.
Because they write actually meaningful lyrics, unlike the shitty, generic pop artists.
+Randy Speight Hyper Agreed
Such a strong band lyrically, I love them.
I just now discovered these guys andI dont think I will turn away. Harsh vocals, Clean/Melodic riffs, meaninful lyrics. Keep it up, guys. You earned yourself a new fan.
The melodic beauty and the badass lyrics will always keep this song as a top 10 in my book. I LIFT IT HIGH

Benjamin Doggwiler haha you'll find yours sooner or later. ik your feels
Probably because you wrote "ur" instead of "your". Look at her sentence; it's capitalized and punctuated. Now look at yours. Typing like an illiterate is turn off by many women.
Peace, love, and melodic hardcore
I had the privilege to see them live, seriously one of the best nights of my life. When i'm in a bad mood or just depressed their music always gives me the strength to continue going forward and not giving up on everything. thanks for making perfect music!!
Despite Im atheist and their lyrics are super religious I really apreciate them on a moral way, great band, but for me their lyrics is what makes them outstanding.
You and I both. I feel the same exact way, and am also atheist.
ya know, I am spiritual in my own sense, rather than holding true to any specific religion or doctrine i've kinda developed my own ideas.
But I believe the lyrics are very universal, especially to this song. they present an idea that I feel like is applicable to the life we all share and our own individual selves, regardless of what lens you view and interpret your surroundings with

Found this band recently, and yes, it's the same for me.

I knew you guys would make it , I fckin' knew it from the first video of you guys practicing I saw :)
I am kinda new to this band. but the lyrics are great. the way they blend the melodic guitar with the raw screams is awesome. personally I am a Christian so this is a band that I can really get into
I have got the same with this band (and I am also a Christian) and i can't get enough of them :)
You might also like Wolves at the Gate, its more heavy but their lyrics are really good!
this is a band you can get into cause your a christian? religion shouldn't play a part with what music you should really get into or not
no religions .just music my friend please
Sleepwalker926 Ofcourse I can also enjoy music that is not related to God or religion, its just that when a band also speaks words that match your view on the world, that its even better and more enjoyable for me. Because for me lyrics are important in a song.
Don't listen to these guys. It takes a special kind of arrogance to tell someone else the reasons they should be listening to music. The fact that the lyrics are bent towards worship is AWESOME.

Such a great band got me out of my shit season of life thanks guys!
I would love to know the number of lives this album prolonged. 1 for sure.
