The Kenwood stand mixer is the equivalent in Europe of US Kitchen Aid, and is a great appliance. I own this Cooking Chef since two years, it has proven to be a great help in the kitchen as you can let the machine cook while you do other things. It's great also for vanilla sauce, jams, let bread dough raise, melt chocolate, butter... Very good quality, but beware with attachments, as not all of them do go into the dishwasher.

Ken Wood started the company about 50 years ago. The cooking chef is one of the more recent product lines. I have owned their products and really do believe that they are tops.

I remember when we had them in the stores, but now only the Titanium mixer is available at Costco or Amazon. No attachments are available anywhere in North America. And without much presence here, it means lack of service if a repair is needed.

I had a kenwood major in the early 90's. Nothing but trouble, always going off if it would start at all. Scrapped it after 3 years along with hundreds of pounds of attachments and went for magimix 5000. Much easier, faster, better results and didn't take up a shelf of attachments.

Wow, that would have been very frustrating. I was thinking of getting the Titanium Kenwood mixer, but here in North America, it's hard to get, plus there are no additional attachment, no service. So if I ended up with a mixer like the one you had, it would be a waste of money since there are no repair centres for this.

Probably use the splash guard to pour in all the ingredients. I agree with you, so that's probably the easiest and safest way to add ingredients while the Kenwood is hot.

It looks like a fun thing if you dislike cooking, love appliances, and have money to burn. Most of us who love to cook will chop three shallots with a knife, and stand at the hob fussing over our risotto. Good cooking is hands on.

You can also see it like this: It's a fun thing if you love cooking, hate appliances and want to save money. Because with all the (optional) attachments like the mixer, blender, food processor, meat mincer(also sausages), wheat grinder, citrus press, coffee mill, juice extractor, ice maker and pasta maker(all kinds) you can make almost anything in the ease of your own home and combine 20 appliances into just one all-in-one solution. So you can make anything you want at home, making it amazing for people who love cooking. You don't have to buy 20 appliances, instead you just need to buy one. So you also save money and space.
But still I partly agree with you. I wouldn't use the cooker to actually cook on it. I would use it for things like: puddings, tempering chocolate, mouses etc. Because you can set the temp to a specific number and the machine continuously stirs for you.

Well, maybe not just risotto, but it´ll work out great to make some sweets, setting the temperature to smoe required level and then add milk, cream, eggs, aso and heat it up to make some basic ice-cream (I don´t know how you call it in english). It´s way easier than setting up a water bowl, heating it and stir the mixture until it´s ready. x-mas is getting close....we´ll see :-)

All this for some risotto! It's much easier to make in a normal pot! It even looks like a pain in the ass to add rice!

He probably means that the food is not a "personal, unique" creation and you use a machine rather than traditionally putting your heart and effort to the meal. It's a matter of preference really as well as spare time.

its like comparing a covette with a bugatti or a harley with a ducatti guess which one has grace pace and style?there was a damning consymer report on th.e kenwood. Can someone elaborate i already use the kenwood xl titanium and i want another similar whilst the kitchen aid remains idle

Hi ... can you please tell more about the report for Kenwood on the consumers site? Did they not like the Kenwood? I've read that most people who have used both Kenwood and KitchenAid end up being more impressed by the Kenwood. Thanks.

the titanium chef is nice, i was curious about the cooking chef but it seems to me that creates more problems than what is trying to solve, who would wash all those gadgets for chopping 3 onions, small space to poor ingredients, oil splashing to the plastic guards, also when the food is done i notice the tilt mechanism is quite low and all that steam and condensation or worse food can get into the tilt opening. Also the accessories alone seems to me a full load of dishwasher for every meal... really i would like to see anyone who is into cooking makes daily meals with this thing

Kenwood products are very hard to get in North America. I haven't seen them in stores in years. I don't think the Cooking Chef is available any longer here. Very popular in Europe, but not much of a market for North America. You could write to them at their website, but I found that their "help" is of no help at all.

everywhere. I can see more people buying it if it becomes less expensive

It was available years ago (around 2012), but Kenwood seems to have pulled out of the North American market. KitchenAid is much more popular. Kenwood Titanium mixers can be bought online at Amazon, though. Also, if a European machine breaks or needs servicing, where in North America does a person get it fixed?

No, it came out around 2012. The ordinary Kenwood mixers have been available for over 50 years, but they are mixers that do not cook, similar to KitchenAids.
