I've been playing mridanga for nearly 40 years but never learnt the mantras, back in the old days we had to listen to Vaiyasaki and Agnideva cassettes and learn beats like that, I was asked to teach Sri mridanga but like I said I didn't know the mantras. Watching this video makes me feel I must forget everything I taught myself and start anew, I'm 58 now so it will be hard.
