In the second battle, while charging his ninjas he used the subterfuge abilty wich make ninjas invisble even when there are not in the trees up until they become visible to the enemy when they are 50 meters close. Thats why the other player did not shoot and moved up his units he could not see the ninjas. Very well played by the red player. I already knew what was going to happen when i saw the ninjas in the trees and the enemy units in the open.

Had he just stayed, he could have actually made a stand but he moved them up, then pulled them back and got charged in the flank. Plain out stupid move when fighting against Kisho Ninjas/Hanzo's Shadows with the stealth ability.
Apollo, ninjas have a skill that allow them to remain in stealth even when running and another ability that makes them sprint. The two combined resulted in the that execution.

Whoever brough the ninjas on the first match is brilliant. It like those action packed movies where ded men flying everywhere with explosives and the battle is a pure chaos. The second match is a perfect execution and timing using ninjas skill which allow them to stay hidden while running like a Chad they are until they are close to the enemy.
I think that one blue square behind enemy lines has the highest unit kill count out of all of them. Just look on the mini-map how many they fight and drive away.
I like the fact Pixeled Apollo is wondering why the black gunmen ain't firing and as I see it, he forgot the ninja units has the ability to hide while running and getting surprise attack till the ninjas get too close. Love ya Pixeled Apollo
I saw many comments saying that the black player in the second match lost because of the ninjas activating their stealth ability, not their unskillfulness. However I disagree. I haven’t played this game, so take this with a grain of salt. However if I were the black player, I would’ve first checked the other general’s retainers. If I find anything that could tie to a ninja rush, that is a definitive warning sign, allowing me to set up a defense to prepare for the ninja ambush. If I find retainers that tie to rush in general, that would give me time to prepare for an ambush. I would’ve also brought in 2-4 units of spear levy, not only to counter cav especially from the flanks, but also to provide a cheap meat shield to allow my infantry to retreat to safety. As well as that, I would’ve brought in at least 3-4 units of yari ki, to scout the possible army comp. One unit could charge in to the forest and get sliced but that’s okay, since now at least I’m aware there’s some sneaky units that could potentially wreak havoc to my army. Another could get to the sword dojo and dismount, capturing it, pressuring the other player to push. If there was an archery dojo then I would’ve immediately went for it with my other cav, allowing my infantry to reload faster and get more shots. Some units of police force is also great to hold the rush back, as they could hold their own in close quarters while also being able to deliver a devastating counter-attack. Finally, I would’ve went for a layered defense to try and get as many shots as possible to the rushing army. Straightforward, innit? Clearly the black player didn’t have much knowledge of the game, and thought that sitting back like it was ETW would work against something like a ninja rush army. This isn’t an attack on the black player, but I feel like they could’ve done much better at stopping the rush.
Apollo You know I love NTW but I've really been digging these Shogun total war vids the animations are Juicer the the blood the screen shake for artillery it really just brings alot in there is a couple things I could nag on like pathfinding and such but overall it's just so satisfying to watch
The thing about that second battle I think too is that the ninjas were hidden, so the black player didn't even see the ninjas until they broke from the treeline. He saw empty space in the tree line and assumed it was empty. His thought might have been to take it or move closer to deny the red team that area and encircle them. He might not have even noticed the ninjas were there if he was busy setting up the rest of the army like the Gatling guns until they were halfway across the field from his gunners. Then he underestimated their sprint ability and tried to reform his lines with little success. After that massive loss on his flank, he simply got outmicro'd as the red player divided and conquered the rest of his army. What a massacre. I have never seen a battle go that poorly between two players in Shogun. Ninjas are such an incredibly effective tool if they are commanded by a player who understands how to utilize their abilities in any situation.

Empire Total War, first thing I usually do if the enemy has artillery is use my artillery or cavalry to take it out, so that was a good move on their part to remove the artillery early on so it wouldn't be a issue later on.

I've been inspired to download shogun and Napoleon again after years but now I have a half decent pc its all ultra and 4k, beautiful! But the UI doesn't scale! Is there a fix for this?
In the second battle, the rifles who ran up might have been the result of a missclick from the black-white player, they might have wanted to do an attack order but didn’t click on the unit and ended up moving their troops instead
It's more about the ninjas having an ability to be invisible while running, they can be seen but only by units that are very close to them. The other player probably wanted to move his troops because he didn't see the ninja units and got caught.
I have so many replays I'd like to send to Apollo with 2v2, 3v3, and 4v4. Still don't know how to send them, how does one become a "Knight of Apollo" clan member btw?
