That said, I don't think he's going near that fast but a rider shouldn't be going more than 10-15 mph above the speed of traffic when splitting. That gives you time to react to people changing lanes unexpectedly or making unexpected movements.
In the first video, both the biker and driver are idiots. The driver changes lanes to get out of the turn lane, with plenty of room in front of the bike. All the biker has to do is change lanes and pass him. But he gets all butt hurt and keeps looking at the driver which causes him to get angry. Everyone should work together on the roads, we're all in it together people.
If you time the distance (pick one of the lines), it's less than a second of space between the two; GoPro cameras and the like don't do justice to distance. I'm assuming the car did a somewhat panic-move to keep going straight instead of face the fact that he'd have to turn around or something because he's in a turn lane. However, to your point, the kid wasn't helping the situation by perpetually giving him the finger and all that nonsense, too lol. If it were me, I'd have been noticing the slow move into my lane, let off the throttle to give more distance, shake my head in self-righteousness (lol), and go about my business.

You're assuming that everything is fine even in a distance that doesn't allow for someone to react properly simply because nothing is causing the driver to hit the brakes; that's a false assumption of safety. It's an imperfect world, and shit happens, so we as motorists can never make assumptions. It's why I said before that the rider should have just simply let off the throttle and get back to the minimum 2-3 second following distance, and everything would have right in the world again. Because he didn't and decided to rev bomb and get closer and do all of that nonsense, part of the blame also goes to the biker. Part of the blame goes to the driver because he/she needed to allow for sufficient spacing of motor vehicles when merging, changing lanes, or following. So yeah, this is an "everyone at fault" situation, but eeking into first place was the brain surgeon who decided to play a dangerous game with a 2 ton car while not even wearing gloves or a jacket lol. :)

Blayne i have seen you way to much commenting about the law so i actually looked it up. Lane splitting is legal at speeds of 50 or less (this means the flow of traffic is at 50 or less not that you can go 50 whenever the fuck you want in standstill traffic) and the guidelines state you should not do more than 15 mph more then traffic, if you do more then 15 over the traffic you are doing it at your own risk. The guidelines also state that you should be aware at all times and anticipate lane changes. That's kind of hard to do when you are going over 40 mph faster than traffic. Everything i have read has said doing 20 faster than traffic is extremely dangerous the guy in the video is doubling that. i am pretty sure in the case of this video insurances would not pin fault fully on the car if they had crashed due to his excessive speed, would have most likely been split.

I've noticed something with dirt bikers on rural roads: no, they don't have a licence and no, their bikes aren't street legal. There absolutely is a speed limit on lane splitting, you're both incorrect. The biker is completely at fault. Do you ride motorcycles? I do. Do you ride motorcycles in California? I do. Do you pay attention to the traffic laws given by the law enforcement agency responsible for your state who makes the guidelines for lane splitting? I do. CHP will blame you for the accident and write you a reckless driving ticket in a heartbeat if you're splitting lanes like that. Biker is totally at fault. Unless you ride in CA, lane split, and pay attention to the guidelines/laws given, you have no room to make assumptions. Lane splitting is permitted under 55 MPH, within 15MPH of the traffic you are passing, as stated by the C.H.P.

when is strong wind and in a hard to see cause trees bush or whatever curved intersection without traffic lights. Well the safest way to go is to turn your head like he did. 😊😊 Always works on bikes you can hear much clearer if somethings coming! Edit: works pretty well even on a calm no wind day.
2:40 the sign literally says '' give way'' wich makes it a kind of stop sign, the car was in the intersectoin before the bike had even crossed his stop line
Seen a couple now, with a car having a blown fuse & the rear lights not working. Driver is unaware until someone actually tells them about it. Been there myself. Worst was a faulty alternator that was sucking my battery dry while driving back from work one night. I had to turn my lights off for a period now & again to recharge the battery. Was no issue, past midnight on a mostly empty well lit up one way expressway, apart from the bastard behind me constantly flashing his spotlights at me whenever I shut the lights off, as though he was unable to comprehend the reason for my lights getting dimmer & dimmer until I turned them off again. Empathy, knowledge & a little patience go a long way.
Sorry guys. No sympathy at all for people changing lanes while you're lanesplitting at 30+mph. When a car is in bumper to bumper traffic, they're looking at the cars directly around them. There's no reason to expect that someone will be flying in between virtually stopped cars at 30+. If you lanesplit, it's your responsibility to watch and pay attention.

Everything i have read has said doing 20 faster than traffic is extremely dangerous the guy in the video is doubling that. i am pretty sure in the case of this video insurances would not pin fault fully on the car if they had crashed due to his excessive speed, would have most likely been split.

There absolutely is a speed limit on lane splitting, you're both incorrect. The biker is completely at fault. Do you ride motorcycles? I do. Do you ride motorcycles in California? I do. Do you pay attention to the traffic laws given by the law enforcement agency responsible for your state who makes the guidelines for lane splitting? I do. CHP will blame you for the accident and write you a reckless driving ticket in a heartbeat if you're splitting lanes like that. Biker is totally at fault. Unless you ride in CA, lane split, and pay attention to the guidelines/laws given, you have no room to make assumptions. Lane splitting is permitted under 55 MPH, within 15MPH of the traffic you are passing, as stated by the C.H.P.

Seen a couple now, with a car having a blown fuse & the rear lights not working. Driver is unaware until someone actually tells them about it. Been there myself. Worst was a faulty alternator that was sucking my battery dry while driving back from work one night. I had to turn my lights off for a period now & again to recharge the battery. Was no issue, past midnight on a mostly empty well lit up one way expressway, apart from the bastard behind me constantly flashing his spotlights at me whenever I shut the lights off, as though he was unable to comprehend the reason for my lights getting dimmer & dimmer until I turned them off again. Empathy, knowledge & a little patience go a long way.

Sorry guys. No sympathy at all for people changing lanes while you're lanesplitting at 30+mph. When a car is in bumper to bumper traffic, they're looking at the cars directly around them. There's no reason to expect that someone will be flying in between virtually stopped cars at 30+.
