Just used this method to add waistbands to some swim coverups that were very oversized. It took me a bit to understand in practice and I ended up doing 5 rows instead of 3 but the end result looks great! Thanks much for this information
Thank you for a great tutorial. I am mostly a visual learner and your instructions are well demonstrated too. Love your sweater idea - I also knit and would like to try that out. And it also helps you have coppery hair & fair skin to see how good it looks on you. (yes I have the same going for me).
thank you Julija (what a great difference to spell your name), this will come handy of several boxy dresses I have to add a small gathered waist. You explained and showcased in detail, very easy to follow.
Thank you so much. I have been searching for a video like this. I have sewn A line dress that I don't like the look of. Too baggy. This will be perfect!!
What if you already had a very small band of elastic around the waist but wanted to make it thicker? Would it be possible to follow what was already there without drawing the lines because the dress doesn't hang straight anymore?
Can you do this in reverse? I look better in straight lines than with a waistband. Was thinking of doing this with a dress I recently got - I want to take out the waist elastic.
Watching from Papua New Guinea 🇵🇬 and thank you so much I learned a lot ❤
this is what i need for a dress, but i didn't know how to explain it to a tailor, thank you
I didn't even know there was elastic thread! Thanks!
Always glad to share what I know 🤗
Me either! I just ordered two spools of it. I was ready to make a casing for elastic, now I don't have to!

I have found pretty dresses that I did not buy because the waists were too baggy, this is a fantastic fix, thank you!

This is awesome! I never attempted anything with an elastic thread, going to give it a try.
Elastic thread is so handy! I always keep a few bobbins in my thread drawer 🤗

What would you recommend for marking white fabric?
Thanks so much! ❤️
What tension do you use for shirring? I have experimented with different tension settings but it doesn’t seem to work for any of them. Thoughts?
Will this work on a stretch fabric as well?
Hi Julie 😊 can you changed a gathered waiste in a shirt dress (Lyra) to elastic ? 😊

Hello, julija, do you stitch on the regular side, not the underside (inside out) side? Thank you so much!
Yes, you shir on the right/upside of the fabric. That way the elastic thread is hidden on the wrong/backside 😊
@daaesviolin that is what I thought, thank you so much!
@@milliebeeski of course!!
Great video thanks!! Didn’t know there was elastic thread!
