Floyd is 100% correct. Usyk beating Joshua is not an upset. He's a gold medalist, unified the entire cruiserweight division, had nothing left to prove. Now beat a unified champ in Joshua. The guy should've maybe said Douglas vs Tyson when giving examples of upsets.

See, people are using terms like 'big upsets' way too liberally now. Kambosos was well known to be a very serious threat to Teofimo (and any others) and Floyd is correct that Usyks win seemed like a 'big upset' because the vast casual viewers didn't know who Usyk was.
I don't know we need everything to be dubbed a "big upset" *Ruiz wasn't nearly the shocking upset people thought either. Ruiz was a highly regarded rising HW well known to be a very real threat.
Fr fr people act like Ruiz was some bum when he actually was undefeated (The Parker match was a robbery for me Ruiz should’ve won that) and never been knocked down in his career before. AJ was the first one ever to drop him in his career
@@klaasjan1578 Right, its ridiculous to hear people talk. Yes, his only loss was Parker and a very strong argument can be made that was a 'draw' and many saw Ruiz as the better fighter.
Otherwise, yes, he got dropped by AJ and then proceeded to repay it with several of his own.
His only real loss was getting run and points-popped by a pedaling AJ (who did the right thing) but it's also worth mentioning AJ had to NOT engage with Ruiz and was rattled anytime he did. Ruiz did blow it - he did come in outrageously heavy in the belly but he's been incredibly dedicated to demonstrating he comes in surprisingly slim now. I don't even think he needs to be 256 but he's absolutely proving he's not making that terrible mistake again.
The idea that Andy Ruiz is some bum, some fat tin can, some out-of-shape contender is just wrong and someone collected clips of Top HWs talking about sparring or training or even fighting Andy Ruiz Jr (various interviews before the 1st AJ fight) and ALL OF THEM are just 100% peer respect and admiration, every coach or boxing personality, if asked, talked about Ruiz as an absolute top contender to watch, some joked about how hard he hit them in sparring, nobody spoke about him as anything other than a world class up-and-coming major HW contender.
.. i think its just the media went wild on the idea of a 'real life rocky' and didn't want to know Ruiz is a very legit long-earning solid top 5 guy (at that time).

A small guy at HW in today's standards coming in with only two sub par wins at HW, who completely surprising everyone with how he schooled the much bigger three belt holder champion. C'mon now Floyd, you never had Usyk winning, ever, cause you're a supporter of the black fighter no matter what. Am I right? Or am I just blowing smoke? I'm right. Floyd never would have offered to train Usyk if AJ had won, would he? He's offering it because he is at heart is about black fighters first and not about boxing first. Yeah to those that follow boxing, Usyk is a top guy with what he did at cruiser, but how many times in history has someone come into HW and taken on the current three belt holder in his 3rd fight at that weight and shaken up the division? Never. It's an upset Floyd. Floyd's comment is again from a racial perspective, don't give Usyk credit where it is due. While he hides Tank from Loma for 4 years now. When's Tank going to fight the top dogs at 135? At 140? Tank ran from Farmer and Loma at 130, and has been skipping that jump rope from 130-140 avoiding the top dogs to keep up the zero mirage. The real fighters meet up in the ring. Everyone who knows anything about boxing and in 50 years will write it as it is and not this bs Ellerbe and Floyd try to manipulate. Floyd's zero record has an asterisk next to it because he did the exact same bs during his career. Zero means nothing if you don't fight the best fighter immediately when that guy is in his prime and you just fight and don't use steroids, blood infusions, play games about gloves and etc. Sounds like Teo before the Loma fight, give up rematch clause or I won't fight you, give me some of your purse or I won't fight you. No wonder Loma didn't postpone the fight to get his shoulder taken care of, he didn't want to give Teo another excuse to back out. Give it a rest Floyd. You never would have taken on the fighters Loma and Usyk did in 15 fights. You fought guys with records of 0 and 4 while Usyk and Loma were fighting for 7 belts and 5 belts in first 15 fights. Thats why its so important to learn defence from the best defensive boxer ever. Also, bear in mind that boxing is boxing. It doesnt change drastically in heavier divisions. The welterweight actually has better competition with the heavyweight division actually being pretty weak.
Also, Floyd was fighting guys who were much bigger than him and he would still beat them so his advice is solid. Joshua on the other hand has 2 losses and both guys were much smaller with one being a 6ft 2 heavyweight and the other a ballooned up 6ft 3 cruiserweight. Both should have been winnable by Joshua if he had any natural talent at boxing.

Floyd was a 5 division world champ and was beating younger fighters at 40 years old. In terms of boxing iq, Floyd is still a few levels a head of Ward but it looks close because Ward looked amazing against the doormen he would fight for most of his career. De la Hoya ruled the division he was in for years, Pacquiao is a hall of famer and the only 8 division champion ever, and guess what, Floyd beat them both.

I think Tyson Fury may be the greatest heavyweight in boxing history. 6’9” , 280 lbs, 7’1” reach and can move like a welterweight with power in both hand, and a hell of a chin.. I believe when he’s 100% dialed in he could beat any heavyweight in the history of boxing.
