  • Hello, This is Joseph.
Comprehensible Input! Forget the unrewarding study of grammar and vocabulary. The modern trend is toward Comprehensible Input. It is the natural way to acquire a new language. Studies show that it is effective and efficient. Experience with Comprehensive Input shows that it can be fun. Input English is designed for adult and teenage English learners to acquire the sounds of the language to foster excellent pronunciation. Grammar and vocabulary are not ignored. No, they are learned and learned well, in context. People who talk with each other over time gradually start talking with similar expressions, similar pronunciations and similar accents.
Comprehensible Input uses this tendency to help you improve your ability in any language. English is complex and trying to learn it by traditional methods is boring and often not effective. The language spoken in these videos is simple and not too fast. The video format allow the viewer to understand many new words because of visual cues.

Bu tarz videolarını beğeniyorum. Hareketli bir şeyi izlemek dikkatimi canlı tutuyor. Ayrıca tarih ve biyoloji hakkında bilgi içeren videoları da çok seviyorum.

Yes, an amalgam is a mixture of things in its general definition. In common use an amalgam is a mixture of mercury and another metal. They used it as a refining process. However, dentists used it as mercury + silver to make dental fillings. Someone might have amalgam fillings in their teeth. You got it. Lots more to come. Thank you for your support.

It is interesting to consider. Blacksmithing plus engineering led to the development of machinists. The industrial revolution was a phenomenon of the 1800s. I am glad that you liked it. Thank you.

What a treat!! Thanks for taking us to these interesting places in California. I didn't know about lichen and that it is an indicator of clean air. In the minute 20 08 you used the phrasal verb wound up, I find it really confusiong I have heard it in lots of different contexts. Can you explain it a bit please? am looking forward to the video that you promised about tardigrades. Thanks for keeping us learning English.

I am glad that you liked it. That phrasal verb "wound up" in this context is "ended up". Terminó. Wound up is judged by context because a watch or clock can be wound up. Wound is past tense of wind and is a verb. The same spelling, the noun wound is an injury and is pronounced as if it was spelled WOOND with the OO sound. Don't you love English. So many ways to entertain ourselves. Tardigrades are on the list but don't hold your breath. It will not be real soon. Thank you for your support and interesting comments. You really help.

Great video ❤, I want to ask you I'm at b1 level I can understand almost 70% when I listen to English should I continue with more input or switch to output?

It depends on your needs. If you can continue with lots of input, that has a lot of advantage. If you need to use English in your day to day, then use it. I did not try to speak Spanish early. When I got to 1500 hours of input, I found that it simply started coming out. I started speaking spontaneously. Judge your situation. If you focus on listening input, your pronunciation will be better. I was not in a hurry to speak, but I realize that some people really need to speak and they should do so. I hope that this helps.
