- Hey guys,
This video is about the aesthetic changes that occurred with the MK4 JZA80 Toyota Supra in the USA. I've also included some optional parts that were offered elsewhere in the world. Let me know if I missed anything.

FYI Supra production finished in Japan in 2002, not in 1998 as in the USA.
The euro spec hood scoop is functional with a cutout under the bonnet and air guides which actually fed air towards the turbos and rear cylinders for cooling. The theory being that this would provide cooling on extended high-speed Autobahn type runs.
The photo of the red supra with the white hood scoop that you used is actually my old Supra. ;) In that picture, the scoop was not mounted properly and only placed there to see how it would look, hence why there is no cutout under the scoop.
The series 1 headlights also had an integrated turn signal while the series 2 didn't and the turn signal was moved and incorporated into the lower front fog lights. Euro spec Supra's had the option of glass headlights while all other variations only had plastic lenses which tend to fade and yellow over time.
There is also a difference between series 1 and series 2 gauge clusters. Series 1 only having 3 main gauges while series 2 had 5 gauges.
HTH
JZX World Correct. I'm only referring to the US model in this video.
No problem, it's just that you've mentioned the hood scoop etc. which was a euro only option so I figured I'd chime in.
JZX World Yeah, I decided to include some OEM options in case people weren't aware. Thanks for the additional information!
The '97-'98 models also had different color dash panels (more grey than black).
Supraman Good to know. Thanks!
I know it, i know it, i know it.... One day I WILL own a mk4 toyota supra.... One day
Thanks GT Content, I learned a few things about my 97 supra I did not know where different from older models.
claudiomm95993 You're welcome!
OEM wing gets my vote for sure. I also like how it perfectly matches the rear window looking towards the back of the car. there were also some gauge cluster changes for series 2. thanks
good video, would like a longer or a part 2 lol
You forgot the TRD exhaust
The interior dash and inner door panels was changed as well.
thanks so helpfull
Theres also the UK spec which had the same rear lights but they went red reverse red indicator and a chin spoiler. Also the series 2 didn't have an indicator bulb on the wing.
the facelift one also had 5 dashmeters in total (3 small ones on the right instead of 1 big one)
+ILuv4ss Good to know
In about 6 mounts I will go look for a Supra and hopefully buy one! I hope to find one that has a complete stock body. Wish me luck!
LMK how it goes. Good luck!
The high beams on the head lights are different too, the second Supra have like those little mirrors on the headlights of nowdays cars, in the taillights the little squares in each one of the four lights are bigger on the second Supra, which makes it look cleaner, and, is it me or the four circular taillights are smaller on the second Supra?
In the interior in think that the numbers on the tacometer and velocimeter are kinda different
Pd. sorry for my bad english
That grill splitter doesn't intrude on the FMIC fortunately. I have a 4" core up front mounted comfortably behind the splitter with no issues. It's just a matter of personal preference I guess. I've even seen some 97-98 guys remove it from their cars.
Nathan Smith Yes, it could be a hit or miss. Some remove it for aesthetics, some because of intercooler intrusion and some because they believe it may be blocking the air going to the intercooler.
Good vid but forgot that some Supras have side markers on the front bumper and rear while some only have side markers on the front fenders
I love this car all stock
Full TRD spec items go for SO MUCH these days.
the 4 spoke steering wheel is looks exactly the same as the ones I had on both of the 6th gen celicas ive owned, and the 3 spoke ones looks like the ones on RAV4s, just in case you need a new one and you dont want to spend supra money, now you know where to look for the same but cheaper
TCreatorO Good to know! Thanks for the heads up!
GT Content i like the trd supra better
Who doesn't? It's clean.
My dream
My co-worker has a white tt supra and the wing never look stock to me, now i know its a trd.
1:48 I'm my opinion the TRD spoiler looks so much better than the original one
I have both stock and trd parts, they both look good, as long as you keep everything together. Don't use the trd wing without the trd hood, trd sideskirts, and trd front lip.
What TRD front lip? Toyota never made a TRD front lip. The only lip that Toyota made that was mention in the video was the active spoiler.
the 93-96 have glowing green ring on the door key hole and on the ignition key hole. So at night time you know where to put the key in. While the 97-98 have no glowing key hole, to save cost? I don't know.
+Trump 2016 Not too sure about this. Can any 97-98 Supra owners confirm the above?
Trump 2016 i have a 1995 supra it does have the green glowing key ring. 1993 -1996 also had turn signals light on the quater panel and i dont believe the rear panels and sideskirts where oem from toyota. They are Ridox side skirt to me
Joseph Fahie incorrect. The side skirts and the rear spats were optional Toyota parts in Japan for the Supra. The USDM Supra was never given this add on.
The type r spoiler was on slapjack's supra in 2 fast 2 furious
Facelift models also have a black carpet instead of gray as the first series as far as i remember
Good to know!
My ''94 JDM has a 3-spoke steering wheel ... interesting indeed. (I like it a lot more than that fugly 4)
David Stennett I don't even own one, but definitely agree!
Thank you for the video otherwise!
Yeah, that is the non airbag wheel, it has the supra logo in the center.
So the fancy TRD steering wheel is without an airbag as well? Either way, it's not needed for me so no worries. Thanks for that!
it's just the standard jdm non airbag steering wheel. Not the same as the 1996+ models
Trd wing looks amazing imo. Stock is nice but I'd take the trd wing over stock any day
Why did some of the Supra not come with front and rear marker lights?
Different country safety requirements.
Also on different year models the stereo is different, 1998 is different and 1993 is different
can you do this for the nissan 300zx and skyline r34
JDM Cesar Sure. I'll add it to my backlog.
1:10 the lights are changed and notice the logo , one has supra and other supra turbo
Yes 97-98 added the turbo logo, also the 97 was the anniversary edition which came with little upgrades but i do think he made a video on that as well
Series 2 plz
The grill is for air diverting (so they say)
manchester808 Good to know.
I love the looks Americans give me when I tell them I drive a 1999 Toyota Supra haha. The series 2 1996+ looked alot better.
no spoiler, no skirts. that is how I like supras.
The 'four spoke' steering wheel is because of the airbag. The original years did not have them.
Thanks! Good to know!
I have a Series 2 1998 RZ-S 6 speed with a factory 3 spoke steering wheel and it also has an airbag.
JZX World Yes, I wouldn't doubt that the 3-spoke steering wheel lacked an airbag. I prefer the look of it to a 4-spoke. Get some vids up. I'd like to check out your car!
Thanks, I plan to ;)
They only lacked an airbag in the jdm supras (which were 3 spoke with the supra logo). All the usdm supras had airbags and were 4 spoke except for the 98 supras which were 3 spoke with an airbag. I dont know about the European supras.
Dipe Video. Whats the song name?
Thanks

I love you jackie chan!!!
how much is the cost? I will buy them all!
+macprime tech $1....billion dollars 😂🤣😂
hahaha I will buy them im my dreams!
i shudder when i see an auto stick in a supra
Why put a automatic shift on a supra
Danny Vue for people who can’t drive stick lol and want s Supra
anyone know where i can find multiple ones for cheap incase one gets bought?
the toyota supra mk4 is a tuner car and you guys want to dis on the parts for the cars
1:21 But now you can't adjust it. LOL! What where they thinking?!
(facepalm)
20 dislikes comes form people who owned a ferrari and a supra came and kicked there ass!!!!!
i know ITS HURTS!!!!😋😋😋
missed tons of things man...
I think he was going for the obvious changes that can be seen right away, im sure there may be more but those changes may be minute.
You look like Jackie Chan
Wtf boy you look like jacky Chan jajajajajajajajajajajajaj
why am i watching this i have a MK3
Because you're about that Supra life.
yeah probs haha nice vid btw
Thanks! lol
I can't stand that TRD spoiler EVERYBODY put on their Supra's! It doesn't flow at all with the rear end of the car.
Yea the oem wing flows best with it. That trd and the last one are "rice" and kills the rounded trunk look.
Dare I say, ____?
You missed a LOT
an asian talking about rice
hehe, stay classy
An adult still playing children's games
hehe, grow up
When you have no knowledge maybe it's best you don't make videos pretending like you do.
Ok Car God.😂
GT Content you clearly have no idea first example your thought on the series 2 front bar splitter. And there's more difference to the rear lights then color.
You apparently know way more. Feel free to share your knowledge in the comments section or educate us with your own video.
The majority of people would see things as I state. An enthusiast like yourself would see the minute details. As an enthusiast you would care. The video is not meant to provide the intamacies of mentioned items as honestly I don't believe the majority would care about the intricacies.
As an example, I'm sure you've seen other "car channels" and they may not even provide the details you're imposing on me...but they provide entertainment which seems to be what the majority are seeking.
I've been a lurker/member of Supraforums since the early 2000's and have a couple friends with BPU Supras. I know a thing or two and you I assume being a Supra enthusiast, I wouldn't doubt you may know more.
