    This DIY (Do It Yourself) How To Video shows how to remove and replace the spark plugs in a typical late-model BMW N62 V8 engine. The N62 V8 has been used in the following chassis and models:
    * E60 5-series (2004 thru 2010 545i, 550i)
    * E63 & E64 6-series (2004 thru 2010 645i, 645ci, 650i, 650ci)
    * E65 & E66 7-series (2002 thru 2008 745i, 745Li, 750i, 750Li)
    * E53 X5 (2004 thru 2006 4.4i, 4.8is)
    * E70 X5 (2007 thru 2010 4.8i)
    Whether you are replacing the spark plugs or the ignition coils (or both), this BavAuto DIY video will detail the steps and tools needed to complete the task. The procedures shown would also be applicable to the installation of the Bavarian Autosport High Performance Coils.
    Details have been shortened and edited due to UA-cam requirements. See the full tech blog article at - blog.bavauto.co...

    Replaced the plugs on my 2004 745Li yesterday using the Tite Reach wrench my wife bought me for Christmas this year. It was awesome. This was the third time I've changed my plugs and the first time I wasn't swearing at the evil little person at BMW who designed things where adult hands never fit. Thanks for all the vids and tools to keep our cars running.

    Great video. Do you have one covering the very popular N63 engine. Seems like the procedure would be quite a bit different from the N62. I own a 2011 550i xDrive and it's now time to change the plugs. Thanks.

    BavarianAuto I experienced oil leaking from the front of my cylinder head so I initially went in to replace the valve cover gaskets. My spark plugs were nearing replacement, so I ordered them along with hp ignition coils. Once inside, I noticed the seals on my spark plug tubes were completely worn off and I am now awaiting new spark plug tubes to finish the job...Otto, once this is finished, if it persists, can you think of anything else that would cause it to leak?? Thanks in advance for your help/time!!! (E63 '07)

    On BOSCH site , there is recomended 28 Nm of TQ what reffers to 20 Fp of TQ. I head also when engine block is from Alluminum,momentum should be reduced by 5 example 28 Nm - so apply just 23 Nm. If 18 Fp is 24,4 NM so it is very safe just little over what should be on N62 block.. I have question about High performance coils. What i would gain over stock coils ?

    I have two BMWs with 318i. I just replaced spark plugs after only 20K in one of them. Code P0300 & P0304 and running very badly. 3 of 4 plugs where bad. These misfire code are rather difficult to diagnose, especially not thinking the spark plugs were bad. I use a short length of rubber hose to start the plugs on install. I replaced the Bosch with NKG. This video was helpful. I also used anti seize. A video on scan code diagnose would be helpful. Thanks and I look forward to more videos.

      Actually, the injectors are installed into the bases of the intake manifold runner ports. You can see the fuel rail and a couple of the injectors at time 4:53 in the video shown in this post: blog.bavauto.com/15427/bmw-diy-video-replacing-spark-plugs-and-installing-high-performance-coils-in-bmw-v8-n62-545i-750i-x5-etc/

      You do have to remove the coils in order to access the spark plugs, but the coils do not typically require replacement every time the spark plugs are replaced.

      @sandyshoremann7524 4 роки тому

      The "wires" are low tension as each plug has it's coil pack. They are lifetime service. There are no" secondary ignition wires" per se on modern engines. HTH - Sandy
