Homes in many parts of the European continent tend to be smaller but better quality than American homes.

Comparing modern american houses vs more traditional english type of house is not really best comparison. Even in Europe houses differ much between regions. You also cant compare house in dense oldtown environment compared to single house in rural area. Where i come from house is your lifetime project and not everyone has a chance/finances to make one, but those that do usually make house for life and also for future generations.

The reason why “American homes continue to expand” is because so do the people 🤣😀😂

What about the quality of the materials used in the construction of houses? I bet that there’s a significant difference between the ones used in America and Europe.

It is not was to compare European and American houses. There are big differences in houses within Europe. First, you should compare European ones.

If we are talking about a ´´regular´´ house not a regular apartment, as European my first reaction was WOW! until i realice:
They have central heat all year round and air conditioning because they are high consumption houses due to the materials used, (AC and Central H are almost mandatory) even the windows are a joke, therefore, natural ventilation does not exist. The houses must be large because they have no were else to go in their neighborhoods. Also, why do you want a house so big if you're only going to use it to sleep after spending 14 or 16 hours a day working to pay the mortgage? and What it also not mention is that, in most states, even if you sell your house, you must continue paying taxes on it. etc, etc

Saying the same thing over and over 10 different ways. This could have been a 30 second short.

Does the USA have listed buildings like the UK?

I'm european and I live in France. I find houses and appartement too small with too many walls inside. It is not practical to store things and to move around the place. I would love to try large US houses.

Thats the biggest difference I saw too. Maybe because of the central ACs in American houses allow for fewer walls.

The land is expensive in Europe so houses are smaller, lots of apartment complexes. I like the USA lifestyle but can’t afford that in Europe. To build such big house with your own territory takes the same amount of money as in USA maybe even more, but salaries in Europe are much lower

American houses are large, fragile plywood houses... they are poorly insulated and sold at high prices for inexpensive and unsustainable materials. With single glazing and fragile doors.
Recent houses in Europe are solid, bricks, cut stones and concrete, ceramic or slate tiles and built with durable materials.
In major part, we cannot build just anything in Europe and new constructions must respect standards and be very well insulated in order to consume as little heating as possible. Ventilation is also essential. Ventilated spaces under the house.
Windows and bay windows with double or triple glazing...
Many old houses in Europe are also renovated to meet new standards.
Some houses are even passed down from generation to generation...

I always thought hard concrete structures feel a lot worse in terms of insulation. Hard surfaces don’t retain heat very well. Walls in American homes are filled with insulation because they are hollow of course. American homes also have central heating systems. Natural gas is very inexpensive in the U.S. for heating your home. It’s even more inexpensive than electrical heating.

During quakes, Europeans get crushed by their homes.

@@palmshoot When are earthquakes in Europe, almost never.
But more storms and tornadoes in the USA. And what happens to the houses there? They fly away like a piece of paper. These houses are nothing more than a facade. Cheaply built garbage made of wood and sold at a high price.

@@baramuth71 Greece just had one/some. Prior ones occued in Italy and Turkey, part of the latter lying in Europe. There were also Hungary, Bosnia, Montenegro. There were others in this millennium, but since they're identified by the city, I can readily tell you which countries those were. Though relatively rare, some have been bigger than those experienced on, for example, the East Coast of the US. In fact, that East Coast one saw zero deaths while one in Greece killed 79.
Because of America's wealth, they are better able to pay for repairs. Greece is in massive debt. California sees 66% of the quakes in the country, and their newer homes are built to sway with earthquakes, thereby avoiding catastrophy. Meanwhile, European homes are more likely to crush you.
If you looked across the desert and some older parts of East Coast of the US, you'd find some homes made of stone or brick. Moreover, apartments are usually made of brick or similar.

@@palmshoot The quakes in Turkey/Greece have led to the discovery of serious structural defects and severe penalties for the construction companies and engineers.
The USA, on the other hand, is struggling with storms and tornadoes, and the area looks like it was razed to the ground and the owners are facing ruin.
And another point, the wealth of the USA is a moot point, how often has the USA been or is facing total national bankruptcy, with 4 trillion dollars in debt you are no longer rich, that comes from the tax gifts for the rich and the middle class bears all the burdens and nothing comes back to the citizens. So much for the wealth of the USA.

This isn't true lol. American homes are mostly piled on top of each other with NO yard space, there is mass amounts of apartments (tiny apartments), duplexes, etc... the homes you show here are far and few. Wealthy people, not what's the norm

Yeah it kinda is it’s dense near the city areas or if your up north in the south houses are more spread out over a wide area unless it’s a town or city

A smaller yard means less lawncare.
