@@SilverStarHeggisist Yep, sadly the people in this conflict aren't protected by plot armor. One of the nastiest effects of bombs like this and fuel-air explosives is barotrauma, or blast lung. The overpressure damages the lungs, so soldiers that survive the initial detonation may start to have fluid build up in their lungs a short time later and need chest drains, or die from "dry drowning".

People dont understand the most common damage by these type of explosives is the effect on the human body ie blast lung ,cardiac damage and hidden abdominal injuries - People watch a bomb of off and assume its the material damage, building collapsing , fire that kills the most but thats not true - Its the shock wave of the blast itself that injures the most in war

Russian forces attacked the Kupiansk district on May 5 with a FAB-1500 air-dropped bomb, the first time a 1,500-kilogram bomb had been used since the beginning of the full-scale invasion. Even IF it missed - it was the first reported attempt. So what? Also, those are glide bombs - there are things that can not be adjusted and it may just have been unlucky (bad wind, no way to adjust in the last km enough due to lack of kinetik energy). Show me 10 videos and we talk - one means nothing, especially not of one of the first deployed ones. By all accounts it could be a programming error - it is not like we did not have those in the west (including large missilies blowing up of the epic Pentium bug in math).

The actual casualties being somewhere around 75 000 to 80 000 seems a reasonable with a 2.5 - 3x ratio for Wounded/MIA/Captured/Deserted making it total removed from the battle field around 300 000 - which if we take that announcement a while ago that over 400 000 new recruits signed onto the special operation .... it would explain why Russia is opening new fronts, like in the north and what you called the newyork front ... while the losses are heavy the number of forces at their disposal is going up not down .....
The issue for Ukraine is in a vide a few days/weeks ago you showed an estimation of killed for Ukraine you showed was around 50 000 pretty close if I remember correct, if we add similar ratios through I suspect the Wounded/MIA/Captured/Deserted ratio for Ukranie is higher than for Russia ... through not by much 3-4x maybe because of the firepower and ari advantage Russia has .... this is a big problem as this means the numbers are comparable ... which is a disaster for Ukraine, as it needs to inflict significantly higher casualties than take just because of the population dynamics.
But it would be in line with the Ukraine need 550 000 men - this includes not just lost forces, but also additional troops needed to defend additional Frontlines, shore up defenses, rotate units and counterattack ...
That said those numbers may be underestimated but to what degree it is hard to tell ... we would have to be talking at least a doubling of the 85 000 excess death number for it to start having serious impact on Russias forces, and again if the situation is similar for Ukraine its still an big issue for them .... because again unless Ukraine is dealing significantly more casualties than it is taking it just does not have the numbers to keep this up ... which would explain the push to put NATO forces in the backline to free more personnel for the frontline.

Now I think he might be the most able politician we have in the world right now, and most people miss this about him, that he rarely lies, probably because he's a dictator and he's confidant about his power. What is funny is that when we, Russians, see how Putin portrayed in Western propaganda, we are fucking sad that real life Putin is different from "literally Stalin" painted by West. Putin from Western delusions immediately kill by poison or throwing out of window any incompetent person in military or government, actual Putin give his people many second chances and usually let them save the face even when they sneakily demoted (like Shouigu now, but its actually a common practice. Person not fired or straight up demoted, just switched to much less important place. To be fired or punished you must not just fail your task but fail spectacularly or expose yourself as a big criminal. Its infuriating because average Russian (and average in the world i guess) boss are much harsher to his men than Putin to his generals and officials). Western fictional Putin constantly plot magnificent schemes to rebuild Soviet Union and destroy West, actual Putin always aimed to build average Western capitalist country and want to sell raw resources to the West, but was forced to fight back when West pushed him into a corner.
As commonly asked among Russians, "so, now we are turning to Asia, right? Why the fuck we was turned away from them in the first place?!". Sadly, Putin are not Stalin and not Deng Xiaoping, and his government is not the most competent that Russia ever has, and they underperform in many areas. But they are not even close to be as degraded and corrupt as most Western governments now, or, God forbid, most of post-Soviet republics, especially Hitler-loving ones. Also ministry of foreign affairs is really good, Lavrov, and Churkin before him, are perfect statesmen, competent, clever and honest, so people love them (and because of their good work Russia have so much allies in the world now, and half of the world want to join BRICS+ ), and ministry of economics apparently don't deserve nearly as much hate as Russians had to it. And ministry of energetics are okay (as are Rosatom state corporation of nuclear energy, they are pride of the country). Gazprom are shit, RussianRailroads are shit (workers do their job properly, its management who insanely incompetent and slowing work of this state corporation tenfold), ministry of education are huge shit, ministry of defence are very mixed (they failed 2022 mobilization heavily but somewhat fixed that mess since, but is lesson learned? Unknown), ministry of natural resources are shit, ministry of sport are clowns, ministry of culture must be kidding, throwing money at shitty movie directors again and again instead of helping popular indie ones as they supposed to. Ministry of healthcare... mixed? Healthcare free and mostly good but questionable decisions are many. Its like officials conspire to drown both teachers and medics in papers they have to fill instead of do actual work.
so, i hope my rambling somewhat give you a insight to opinions inside Russian society about our government and such stuff. Peace to you.

Only two periods of war that Russians realistically could have bigger losses than Ukrainians is beginning of Kharkov counter-offence (before Russian forces entrenched in Kupyansk and make AFU bleed heavily for they "swift and easy" victory, before retreating further) and first stage of Avdeevka offence when Russian armored vehicles was piled in burned mountains alike to Ukrainian vehicles in greatest summer counter offence before that.
But both are relatively brief. All other times, be Ukrainians in offence or defence, they was very obviously losed much more, usually not outnumbered but pretty much always outgunned

It would help if you always went to the source before you comment. He did not say what you claim.
Putin never mentioned casualties at the St Petersburg conference that was on June 7th. he did discuss casualties
at a Meeting with heads of international news agencies in St Petersburg on June 5th, 2024.
In response to a question by AFP Editor-in-Chief for Europe Karim Talbi:
      viz.
Why cannot you still disclose the number of losses among Russian soldiers in Ukraine during the hostilities?
Vladimir Putin: If this is the only thing you are interested in, I can say that, as a rule, no one ever talks about this. If they do, then, as a rule, they distort the real figures.
I can tell you with complete confidence that our losses, especially as concerns irreparable losses, unfortunately, then they are several times less than on the Ukrainian side.
I can tell you the exact numbers captured by the both sides, or war prisoners. There are 1,348 of our soldiers and officers held by the Ukrainian side. I know the exact numbers because we work with them every day. As you know, there was an exchange just recently: 75 people were exchanged for 75 people. We have 6,465 Ukrainian soldiers.
If we talk about approximate irretrievable losses, then the ratio is the same: one to about five. This is what we will proceed from. This is precisely the reason of the attempt to carry out total mobilisation in Ukraine: because they suffer great losses on the battlefield.
You know, this is how it looks: according to our calculations, the Ukrainian army loses 50,000 people per month as sanitary and irretrievable losses both, although their irretrievable and sanitary losses are approximately 50/50.
      en.kremlin.ru/events/president/transcripts/press_conferences/74223
Thus if we extrapolate if Ukraine loses 50,000 a month, given that the ratio as mentioned by Putin is 4.8 to 1, the same ratio as the number of Russian to Ukrainian pow.
This means that the Russians suffer approximately 10425 losses a month, This does not mean killed, it includes killed, injured, missing, and prisoners.
He claims that the ratio of deaths to injuries for Ukraine is 50/50 which seems to fit with reports because of the lack of medical facilities and training of Soldiers.
In an interview with Willy Oam a mercenary claimed that his groups' casualty rate dropped dramatically when he trained his soldiers in Nato first aid techniques.
Russia has better training and better medical facilities. The ratio of injured to killed ranges from 3 to 1 to 10 to 1 in war.
If we assume the lowest then Russia is losing around 3300 a month. This means around 80,00 Kia which fits in with the figures by Mediazona and Meduza.
Ukraine's losses are higher. they are at least 250000. this fits in with the kill ratio of artillery and bombs used by the Russians.
Just as the Russian figures match the same formula for the amount that Ukraine fires. Of course, in one wants to believe in hundreds of Russian soldiers attacking a position and being mowed down then do so. But this is not How Ukrainian and foreign soldiers at the front claim how Russia fight.

Iit doesn’t matter if you miss “slightly” when there’s over 2000 ibs/1000kg of explosives.
If you been near a 155mm that weighs 48kg with the distance that this “miss” had you’d be toast.
Never deny reality just because you don’t like it, people.
Why put in good chips in the FAB that hits in a 5 by 5 meter area when it doesn’t matter if you hit even 40 by 40 meter off target?
I think Russia made a mistake in introducing these FAB-3000 in penny packets though, same mistake the Germans used to do.
All these one off strikes does is to warn the Ukies/NATO and gives them time to enact counters.
    IMO ofc

    • @kindlingking
      @kindlingking 8 днів тому

Thing is, FAB-3000 are at best a niche sidegrade, it's impact is mostly psychological as ukies don't have anything a couple of FAB-1500 or FAB-1000 can't already destroy (both if which they're already terrified of shitless as well). It's likely going to be used sparingly against particularly tough singular targets.

@@Br1cht there is a use for them of course, but again it's niche. The main issue is that fact that Su-34 can only carry one bomb at a time. Maybe it could be compensated with larged airforce and more planes, but until then FAB-3000 is gonna be a rather specific tool in overall toolbox.

  • @toutsokar
    @toutsokar 7 днів тому +1

The radius of destruction of an explosive charge varies with the cubic root of its weight. Considering medium destruction of structure, this radius is about 10 m for the FAB 3000 and 8 m for the FAB 1500. Using FAB 3000 is not clever: the destroyed area and volume by two FAB 1500 is greater.
