Funny story: Last dance season during my companies show. I was performing my hip hop solo and I ended up tripping but I made it seem like it was apart of the choreography and I started breaking dancing. Best part is that was everybody’s favorite part of the solo and they didn’t have a clue
i don’t feel awkward at all when i dance alone in a room or studio and i actually have sooo much fun doing it but whenever someone watches me dance even if it’s my best friend or someone super close to me, i suddenly feel so awkward, self conscious and nervous (to the point i will start shaking) :/ is there any tips on how to stop this from happening/help me with it?
1. be on beat 2. don't lock your limbs 3. don't cut off your movements 4. use everyday motions as part of your dancing 5. be intentional with your hands 6. match the mood of the music 7. dance through your mistakes 8. condition your body (warm up) 9. face different directions 10. it's ok, to look or feel stupid
Idky but sometimes my left arm/ hand has a mind of its own... Haha. That sounds kinda funny. It has it's own brain. But one time someone called me out on it & said it moves robotically. 🤷 I don't always think about what I'm doing. I'm just moving to the music. I wouldn't think I do that alot tho. But I'll assume I look graceful anyway. Bc ppl tell me I do. That & they say I look like I'm almost floating on air. Or once, someone asked me if I was rollin on e bc of the way I was dancing. Is that strange if I take that as a compliment :/? I wasn't tho. I'm not the type who likes to get fd up in public w/ strangers. If I were to do that, it'd be more of a house party. W/ few ppl I actually know & feel comfortable with. Otherwise, I'm gonna tell everybody they're pretty. Even dudes. Or tell them I love them or something. Also, ppl like to stare at me when I'm dancing. 🤷 I should feel kinda flattered, I guess. But it makes me feel weird to. Like wtf r u looking at? I can't look back at them. Not for long anyway. Especially if idk them. Yes, a part of me feels cheesey. Other than that dancing is a little routine to me. I feel like I do the same sh regardless of what's being played in the background.
YES once I figured this out things became so much easier 😂 It took a pretty long time for me to get used to it though cause I mainly dance ballet and your legs are almost always straight there 😂 (with the exception of pliés and retiré, ect)
To be fair the sound of that genre is more mechanical in origin (hence INDUSTRIAL)... So i agree the roasting was not needed because that's the sound of the music
Tip: know where to look. If you look down the WHOLE time it can look (lol) awkward. You can look in the direction of the movement of your hands. make direct eye contact with the camera or audience. If you feel shy in making eye contact, it okay! You'll warm up to it with practice!
And if you're dancing in a club you can even make casual eye contact and smile at people around you when ya'll make eye contact. Don't force it, don't constantly be doing it when you spin around etc or people start to feel uncomfortable. ... unless there is mutual interest in sharing a dance then well; see what happens. I've had some amazing things happen that way. You can also just move your eyes with your body music without really focusing on anything. It's quite fun. Your eyes are another body part, you can dance with them also. Ergo, look down at your hand then move it. Also, I'll sometimes wear a hat pulled down pretty low so I can look out and see everyone around me but not see people's faces. It lets me just get into the zone of body movement where I can make BIG and fast moves worry about making eye contact which I sometimes don't want / feel odd about. I will also dance with my eyes closed

+STEEZY Can I ask how to really control our body power or soft movement? Because even I watch the choreography and I know which part needs to be power and soft movement but when I start to dance I can't control myself
I have a similar problem. My moves are weaker and less sharp at some parts and I've realized is because of lack of balance and strength. What I'm doing now is work on my balance, flexibility and full body strength. That is what professional dancers, like ballerinas, do to direct strenght to certain parts of their body better so the moves are sharper and controled.
1. Practice makes perfect. In addition to repeating the dance, try going slowly and putting extra emphasis on the moves, then try adding that emphasis on a larger scale. 2. Just because a move is soft, it doesn’t mean that it lacks strength. When I dance contemporary or ballet pieces, I’m not putting any less strength into the most graceful moves than I am when I’m popping. Even a simple arm extension requires force from all my arm and back muscles, even if it looks like I’m just placing my arm. To me, it’s not whether or not I am putting strength behind my moves, it’s where the strength is applied and what the strength is achieving.

3. Focus on delivering great education, but also on how your students are receiving it. Read body language, facial expressions, give out surveys explicitly asking how you could improve the experience (ESPECIALLY to your students who stopped coming)
4. Offer discounts or promo codes or other incentives. Even a showcase you're working on together is a good thing to look forward to after putting in the time and effort!
man dancers are some of the coolest people
Loved the tips and the puns. 😂😂
Oh, thank you!
I've just taken my first dancehall lesson this evening... truly my first dance lesson... at almost 47 years old.
And all what you said is just so helpful.
I'll write all these tips on a paper and learn them by heart!
Thank you again.
That last tip I can relate so much cus I dance whenever I'm free but there are moments that I feel so stupid and awkward but moves are correct
Everytime I see a "tips" video or "how to" video they are always sooooooo boring. They just talk and talk and doesn't make it funny or quick. But you guys and this video! Dang, I didn't even skip a second! Awesome content!
NAME A BETTER DUO... I’ll wait

these are very helpful tips, like when i did the record for my videos, i didn't have a bluetooth speaker so i just couldn't hear the music. then my dance moves just look terrible and no passionate at all. thanks for the tips so much, you guys such grear dancers ^^!
0:07 that actually looks amazing. Especially compared to what I look like.
same, I’m not even close to that level yet
They are so confident in every thing they do! Even at 1:26 on the examples I'm jealous
I never really feel awkward when Im dancing by myself, but when I dance in front of people especially my friends (who always say that my dancing is bad) it just makes me not want to dance at all or ever
I just started dancing classes, salsa to be specific, I felt like I looked stupid while doing it and I felt so stiff but I am determined to be good at it. These tips are really helpful, thank you.

i was going to start doing dance covers, but i don't look as good on camera as i so on the mirror. So my confidence got LOST. But now that i saw this video i will try harder to improve! Thank you i really needed this🥺❤️
I clicked on it so fast thinking that it said how to not look awkward in general but good vid tho 😂
I'M ALREADY LOVING THIS CHANNEL❤️
0:09 got me laughing so haaaardd HAHAHAHA
i keep going back to steezy whenever i lose motivation, it helps!
Omg.... this channel is so amazing!!
I'm currently in a dance group and i feel super uncomfortable with so many talented people right by me, and then there's just this random potato sack trying to stay on beat😂
You'll be right there with them in no time! Keep at it 👊👊👊👊
I love how fast this video is and at the same time the tips are so helpful!
Also love the way they teach lol ♡
another good tip: breathe properly
your body can't move well if it doesn't have enough oxygen, also you will fell tired and your moves will be weaker, so make sure you breathe properly so your body can have enough oxygen to move properly
Honestly the dancing in these videos looks so fun
*I gotta say, my dance teacher said that there's no such thing as a mistake, so as long as you keep moving (on beat), you good* ;)
My cousin is having a quinceañera this weekend and her family barely decided they wanted to do a dance. So we have to learn the dance in less then a week(It is currently day 3 of learning the dance and the quince is in 4 days). This is really helpful!
Excellent
This tips are so helpful :) Thank you.
