no. visual presentation was part of the test. Companies usually add preservatives like sodium benzoate and nitrite for a redder and much more appetizing color that reminds you of childhood. Or many companies use Titanium Dioxide on salad sauces and pastry ingredients to make them look "whiter" and "purer." How canned food looks (and how it often looks more appetizing than fresh food) is as important as how it tastes for manufacturers- that's why it was important to show that, often, it may not only taste and smell better, but also look better, because of harmful and often suspected carcinogenic additives.
The program didn’t talk about BPA that is used to line cans. In fact, by avoiding canned food consumption, you avoid the major source of BPA exposure. In the US, some organic canned tomato brands are marked “No BPA lining on can”. Those are what I will pick. Also, for fruits and vegetables, frozen is better than canned (in fact it is sometimes better than fresh because it is picked at the peak and then flash frozen).
Great video by CNA, very very informative and thorough. I think the lesson is also to be everything must be in moderation. Having excessive eating of one type of food will always be bad for you...
After arriving Australia I was shocked how much preservatives they consume. I’ve been avoiding them, just cook fresh, even eggs on toast is better, healthy and wholesome. My anxiety has reduced and more fit.
It would be nice if you guys could also send all those canned food for lab test as from time to time, there are plenty of undeclared extra ingredients such as pesticides. Such information will be beneficial to your viewers.
When I saw that high fructose corn syrup was an ingredient in "deli style turkey breast" on the shelf of my local grocery store, I stopped buying prepackaged meat altogether. 🤢
In disaster prone countries, canned goods are distributed as relief goods. Also, on days when food budget is meager, people buy canned goods because it is less costly than fresh produce. These are some reasons why people resort to eating canned food. But ask any nutritionist and they will tell you, fresh food is by far the best choice. Home cooked meals would allow you to customize your ingredients according to taste preference or health concerns, without using chemical preservatives, making homecooked meals not only more affordable but far better than any meal bought from a restaurant or a fastfood place.
A good guide for use process food (if no choice) are choose the ones with less ingredients. For example a pure butter are made milk, water & salt. And avoid any form of sugar or sweetener & Seed Oil (vegetables oil)
using canned tomato in the experiment is a flaw. canned tomato is usually superior to fresh tomatos when making a tomato sauce and canned tomato has almost no negative effects.
I'm selling canned tomatoes from China. Want to buy them? Comparing canned tomatoes produce in the EU to the ones here in asia is kind of laughable. They have higher standards and enforcement compared to SEA
In America, people eat these canned foods on a daily basis. unless you know how to read the label (which most don't), you can easily consume three to four times the sodium, sugar and preservative agents daily. In America, white sugar is our biggest offender. It is in everything. Drinks, foods, and even medications.
Thank you so much CNA Insider, KUDOS to Talking Point Team for keep providing us quality and very informative documentary and articles. Happy subscriber here on my end.
The only canned food I eat is tuna and sardines. Even that, I’m particular with the taste and nutrition profile. High salt and additives are things to avoid.
Fresh food has no replacement. It builds immunity, psychology, healthy gut and digestive system. In all it’s a base for experiencing life positively. Imagine our body is like a car. Then the food we eat is like the fuel we fill in. For high end cars high performance fuel and oil is needed.
Whatever people say, I only believe in my fresh vegetables. They might have lower vitamins, but I believe fresh is always better. I don't have to worry about preservatives.
Good info and better awareness now when i buy canned food. Essentially to avoid is best but will need to have some as contingency. Good to know which ones to have in the cupboard.
20:03 isn’t that canned fish dangerous when opened and then stored in the fridge without transferring it to a different container due to risk of rusting? 😨 (then my question was answered in the end 😊👍🏼)
Wonder how frozen food compares to fresh food. I would assume frozen foods are one ingredient and frozen without additives are better long term storage food than canned ones
As an Indonesian i cant understand the pull of canned food 😂 i mean the only canned food i ever bought was sardens, the rest i bought them fresh from traditional market.
If you're Muslim of course pork luncheon meat won't be your choice. Other than sardines, I think you'll occasionally come into contact with canned fruit like longan.
i eat luncheon meat but i dont eat it evryday i have allergy in canned tuna and sardines🙄 i have vegetable garden but im only human i eat evryting .life is short. enjoy life😂
I haven't seen the video yet. Just arrived home. Luncheon meat ( Spam at that time) was my favorite breakfast so I our help would fry some for me almost every other week. The next breakfast favorite is canned corn beef. I am now 47 and feel fine. So I guess it didn't harm me.Will watch the video later
people should understand and not be afraid of all additives. not all preservative, addictives and even MSG are that bad. in fact MSG can be used to reduce sodium intake.
I've already gave up canned food for 2 years now. never looked back. way better healthier life. but recently started purchasing canned kidney beans though 😅 its only water and beans. non gmo and organic stated.
Think about eating less often and avoid snacking, especially when you eat a lot of carbohydrates and sweet stuff, drink sodas etc.. It is called intermittent fasting and helps to avoid diabetes type-2.
After watching this video clip (3:50), I stop buying Golden Bridge Canned food anymore. 100% manufacturing issue. It is stupid and dump to show the world your production defects. How can the meat drop out of the Container. Oh your GOD. did you hear the girl "Ow....."
Fresh food is not always readily available in an urban environment such as Singapore and we may need to take meals with canned products occasionally. Everything is dependent on eating them in moderation.
I wish there is Chinese subtitle or dubbed to show my parents this video. They only believe in their relative in every topics, and treat our advice as BS.
Why not? I personally do not promote canned luncheon meat, but canned tomatoes and sardines (which I used most of the time for pasta in college)are not bad for our health isn’t?
Canned italian tomatoes are better because they are the correct variety as Seth (?) mentioned, rather than the salt and sugar. Outside Europe, and even outside mediterranean countries within Europe it is not easy to buy the correct variety of fresh tomato. Most people resort to buying bottled passata or canned italian tomatoes.
its common and natural for the mind to automatically match the accent. one example is when people sometimes speak differently when speaking to an Indian as compared to westerners.
I change my accent too when I speak to angmo, not because I want to bootlick them. But I rather change my accent than having to repeat myself 3-4 times every sentence if I stick to my sg accent.
some people feel happy when they have control over their own lives rather than giving in to urges just like going running is tiring but people who do it is happy to be tired. the more tired the better
you just need to know how to cook. I regularly cook for people of like 5 different dietary needs and everytime I manage to come up with something good.

No disrespect, Is Sharda Harrison a Muslim or non-Muslim? as you may mislead others when you deal with pork in this video.
The choice of fjood is always at your own choice and discretions, fresh food is always better.
You should also wash your lettuce. Hehe.

That canned vs fresh segment should have been a blinded test.

I bet the chef suck at fresh. good chef will always win on fresh,

This 👏👏
They made a video about BPA and it is like not even bad unless you eat the lining 😂
when BPA is not used they use a different but similarly bad chemical like BPS
As always. Very thorough. Good job CNA
These shows are so informative. Thank you. USA Viewer

Not wholly true
Great video by CNA, very very informative and thorough.
I think the lesson is also to be everything must be in moderation. Having excessive eating of one type of food will always be bad for you...
I love eating the excessive ones, but being stressed and toxic is much more bad than eating processed foods alone
Very educational. Keep up the great content CNA!
Loving this content!

@Iamlove Iampeace Avoid people to remove anxiety.
I'm Australian and I have never seen tinned eggs... ugh gross. I won't eat cammed meat yuck.
Waltzing is supposedly good for anxiety. 😎
“Shouldn’t eat more than one in a couple of months” okay I think I’ve reached my quota for year 2021
I've probably reached my quota till 2025! 😆
I had two in 1 week ...shiettt
Another issue with canned food is the lining. Look for cans that say on the label- "No BPA added."
It would be nice if you guys could also send all those canned food for lab test as from time to time, there are plenty of undeclared extra ingredients such as pesticides. Such information will be beneficial to your viewers.
I love canned tuna, the only canned food i can eat straight from the can.
Thank you for creating and sharing this content. Lots of inputs.

Very informative, well research, full of lesson and additional wisdom.
Thank you ! Hoping for your next videos.
22:25 the veggies she's eating looks so perfect. Must be treated with pesticides or farmed in hydroponics. All of the effort to eat healthy wasted

What this was missing is a talk about the metal used in tins and what they are lined with and if they are healthy because most are aluminium cans.
They’re lined with bpas
using canned tomato in the experiment is a flaw. canned tomato is usually superior to fresh tomatos when making a tomato sauce and canned tomato has almost no negative effects.
lol that is why tnis experiment is about canned foods😂
I prefer fresh, if you use good tomatoes (not the grocery store artificially ripened ones). Passata pomodoro is divine, like sunshine in your mouth
@@seitanbeatsyourmeat666 All Passata recipe videos show Italians taking fresh ripen tomatoes and canning them which turns them into canned tomatoes.

22 minutes well spent I must say! The host is so pretty and well spoken =)
SIMP
Yes and her way of speaking is slow and clear. Even the auto generated English shows clearly all the words she says.
I spent 22 minutes in the comments section😄

These are nice simple little shows appropriate to teach young children some of life's basics.

Great information.. Keep up the great work.. Brooklyn, N.Y. native here..
This is a good episode.. I always wanted to know what's in my luncheon meat.. 🍖🍖🍖
Its probably better not knowing 😅
Ever tried Haggis ?
Canned food is emergency food. But buy the best quality you can, like all organic, wild caught tuna or salmon, or can your own garden produce in jars.
The only canned food I eat is tuna and sardines. Even that, I’m particular with the taste and nutrition profile. High salt and additives are things to avoid.

Because they don’t contain pesticides, gmos or poor fertilizers
Good info and better awareness now when i buy canned food. Essentially to avoid is best but will need to have some as contingency. Good to know which ones to have in the cupboard.
I hate that they add preservatives. The canning should be plenty enough.
Low salt could be enough. So you can have more than one slice per day.
It’s the tin that’s used in canning that’s also an issue as it can leach into the food it contains.
Ya...l was advised to transfer instantly onto another container...🤔
20:03 isn’t that canned fish dangerous when opened and then stored in the fridge without transferring it to a different container due to risk of rusting? 😨 (then my question was answered in the end 😊👍🏼)
Sure is,🤢🤢🤢🤢
yes can cause botulism
Fresh tomatoes are delicious when vine ripened. Chemical ripened fruits taste like water.
Very informative! Thank you.
Wonder how frozen food compares to fresh food. I would assume frozen foods are one ingredient and frozen without additives are better long term storage food than canned ones
For those who mentioned BPA, you have to also look out for their substitutes ie. BPS and BPF.
Canned food should be illegal unless it's for emergency situations.
18:05
eating processed meat associated with bowel and stomach cancer
By simply looking the colors, you know which one is canned. Canned goods often have enticing colors.
Not really, the fresh curry is the one with oil and looks red. It is easy to differentiate if you know how to cook.
As an Indonesian i cant understand the pull of canned food 😂 i mean the only canned food i ever bought was sardens, the rest i bought them fresh from traditional market.
Canned fruits? I bet you have had them at least once.

They are delicious
Not to mention, after eating luncheon meat, and when going to the toilet, it really stinks. No good.
Gahahahaha
Weird...the homemade spaghetti sauce looks so pale ..are you sure you added tomatoes? Hahaha
I haven't bought a can of anything in years.
Same here and none of the soft drinks too
Yup... stop soft drinks and even desserts, they are too sweet in the stalls.

This is very informative. Thanks for the information for awareness. Just wondering the right way to keep the milk in can after it's opened? 😉

you mean additives
@@avodaco89 i hope he meant additives. because addictives would be pretty bad
Sodium isn't bad. It's the sugar that causes inflammation.
